so many good memories of Guild Wars...best part is I didn't have to close my account after I stopped playing! thank you GW for no subscription fees!!!
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Guild Wars. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
Quite simply one of the most memorable game themes of the past ten years. The Theme to Eye of the North is possibly the best of all the variations, but perhaps it's just the one I'm most used to...
Either way, Jeremy Soule is a very talented individual indeed. I tip my hat to you, sir.
@ZolyxUK If you haven't heard it already you might want to look up the piano solo from the GW2 gamescom trailer. It's a beautiful rendition of this song.
I remember when my older brother got this game when it came out, and we sat down at our old PC and I would watch him play this game for hours, when he was only about 14, and i was 9. Man, I loved this game. Whenever I hear the music from prophecies, I get shivers down my spine because of all the memories I have with it. Jeremy Soule, you are an absolute genius, and your music has given me enough nostalgia to last a lifetime.
i remember paying someone to run me to droks....when lots of people played. when i could do missions with actual people and not henchmen. way back when...):
@Borin81 It's more likely that both Oblivion and Guild Wars are both fantasy epics. This orchestral drama is synonymous with that genre. Try listening to his work on Star Wars: KoTOR, Harry Potter, Prey and Warhammer, rather than two games in the same vein.
@OverBlackSands see? now C64 music got tact, rythm and innovation, instead of just the same EPIC music like Soul does or the crap pigeonpsycho (lol fitting name) tells me to go and listen to.
Sounds so very similar to Oblivion, which Soule also did the soundtrack of. As well as Icewind Dale. =D Jeremy Soule is one of the gods of video game music.
@Mhenlomatras lol... so you like games like wow? do you not appreiciate the graphics and gameplay on guildwars? Trust me.... Guild wars is the best mmorpg around these days... however i must agree that the level cap at level 20 sucks :(
i didnt say i like Wow is childish i dont like the story ive played it tho, i dont like the graphics too,
the reason i dont play GW is i cant meat people outside the cities for example like other games when ur farming u meet others, that doesnt happen with GW that annoys me so bad i quit.
@Mhenlomatras the fact that there are limited skill slots means you have to plan. this means the game is more challenging and rewarding, especially in pvp.
guildwars and starcraft are two of a very small selection of games which have insanely high level play and appeal to real pro players.
@Mhenlomatras besides, i was only commenting on your remark about the limited skill slots in guildwars.
the fun for high level street fighter is from successfully reading the opponent and being one or several steps ahead. the limited skill selection in guildwars means you can read an opponent and be one or several steps ahead even before you entire battle - through smart-picking skills.
@Mhenlomatras another thing is that extending the skillbar would make the game more similar to wow, and arguably the only game which would improve from being made similar to wow is big rigs :P
@Geerse23 Jeremy Soule has done the composition of numerous games including Elder Scrolls III and IV, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, Company of Heroes and Neverwinter Nights... not to mention composing the main theme for Chronicles of Narnia... Jeremy Soule is a genius
Not SURE i'm buying the 2nd one, because the assclowns of ANET failed to protect millions of accounts and one of em was MINE and I lost all of my fucking plat plus my uber gear!
@writertrump look moron, does that so-called "uber" gear actually give you a statistical advantage in combat? no, it doesn't. yes you can get away with speccing only 8 in sword, but you'll do crap damage at 8 spec no matter what anyway.
until you find a sword that does 16-23 damage (which does not exist), you do NOT have uber gear. the people who pay top dollar for req 8 martial weapons are idiots.
Aaah the good days in prophecies, when Droknar's Forge was a major town were everyone wanted to go. Now nobody is there anymore. Maybe some powerlevelers.
haha i know.. i miss my guild wars days. Droks was like this place that everyone was talking about , i never knew how to get there. it was this weird place where you have to go . it was amazing once i got there
@GWFan81 Groups of people gathered around storage, selling their wares. Runners to Marhan's sitting near the entrance. Newbies who had just finished the campaign spawning on the bridge.
It was my old haunt, aside from Piken Square. The place is a silent grave now.
factions introduced huge faction battles, and Prophcies was the biggest, and in everyones except ures the best guild wars game 2 come out, nightfall got the lowest score of all except EOTH
epicness

The level cap is to keep people from grinding which appears in many other games and the 8 skills are for a balanced game.
KoftBalsam 1 year ago 20
@KoftBalsam no the 8 skill is plain bullshit...
it takes the fun out of it..
altough im good an pro in PvP ... i hate the fact there are 8 skills.

If every skill could be used the game would truly suck bowls.

@tarquinbiscuitbarrel have you played street fighter. (try it online SSF is going to come out.
that is the hardest game ever. it is for ''insanely high level play and appeal to real pro players''
Mhenlomatras 1 year ago
@Mhenlomatras real pro players would be starcraft, check the korean starcraft pro league. but street fighter is very big, especially in japan.
