P.S. When you get to the CPU BUS Freq part you can go up & down. What so cool about it you can watch your Target CPU Freq & Your Target Dram Freq go up & down. Example 286 is around 4.0Ghz. Now your dram is to watch for if you have a 1333 try to keep under it there is a reason is to keep it STABLE if STABLE & over then good. The reason to keep under DRAM Freq you do not want to go over more than one thing on your stock parameters. Make sense?
@RollTideMustang You neglected to mention the good part about the Black Edition cpus. :) With these or the Intel i7 "K" series cpus, you don't have to mess with any of that to perform overclocking of those cpus. Just adjust the CPU multiplier, give a small voltage bump if unstable, and off you go. Certainly a lot easier than having to play with the locked cpus, where you'd have to play with the Front Side Bus speeds and whatnot. :)
No offense or insults to GamerTechBlog just a helpful hint to OC Clockers. Now for those who wants to OC your AMD such as 1100T if you have a ASUS Board. You can go to AI OverClocker set to MANUAL set your AMD Turbo DISABLED. I know, I know you ask why? GamerTechBlog explained it. Set CPU Ratio at 14.0 CPU Bus Freq:286 PCI-E Freq:100 Dram Freq: Depends what ram you have like 1333 try to stay below it nto above it that si where you can become unstable. CPU Voltage:1.45 Dram:1.65
@RollTideMustang Any time you're overclocking the recent AMD or Intel cpus, you most certainly would want to disable the Turbo features, as well as the speed throttling features, such as Intel's Speedstep or AMD's Cool and Quiet. Considering how much trouble the speed throttling gives me, I tend to disable them regardless of whether I'm overclocking or not. :)
I have ASUS M4A87TD AMD Phenom II X6 3.3Ghz (Turbo 3.7Ghz) 1100T Core Thurban. 8GB Memory Kingston 1,333Mhz. Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 Core 800Mhz Memory Clock:1,250 someone asked can it run BF3,MW3? You should with flying colors! The real test is SKYRIM!
It absolutely can run BF3 with no major issues. Of course, I've tested it with a Radeon 5850 and modded 6950 (6970 firmware), and the performance is decent, although the Intel CPUs dominate the AMD proccys these days. :)
With a little bit of tweaking, such as scaling back the anti-aliasing a bit, I've been quite satisfied.
@wodka450 You can certainly do that with no major fuss. Hell, I run at 3.6 to 3.8 Ghz on the stock cooler with temps ranging in the low 30s at idle. Considering the max temps are something to the degree of 55C, you've obviously got some headroom to play with there. With a decent aftermarket cooler, you could pull something like 4+ Ghz easily.
@GamerTechBlog If I can give an Advice of experience of a cooling fan I have is a XIGMATEK GAIA SD1283 keeps mine cool... A huge heatsink with cooper heat pipes & with a large fan.
theres not alot of videos i enjoy watching on here when it comes to explaing about cpu's etc, as i find alot sound rather boring and annoying, but i knid of enjoyed watching your video (not boring:-). i was thinking of getting an AMD x6 Core Phenom II 1100T 3.3Ghz 16GB DDR3 1333mhz Asus USB Motherboard Bundle (£285.00 Ebay), and i really dont want to throw good money after bad it is too old now. i want to render movies quicker.
@Dean66Essex It certainly wouldn't be a bad purchase, especially considering how disappointing the Bulldozer CPUs have panned out to be. I might consider the Intel i5/i7 CPUs as well, especially since they shine in gaming and video work.
Hi mate, good video. Recently I bought a barebone bundle from Novatech.co.uk (The pc tower, motherboard and processor with some ram, which in this case was the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition with 6gb ram). I'm just using the onboard graphics card at the moment but maybe looking to buy the same one as yours. Just a quick question.. Do you know how much ram the motherboard can take? Like I say, I have 6gb but would like to upgrade it to possibly the highest amount I can lol :-)
@Deathbringer99699 Yeah, my system is pretty similar, considering that I did the firmware flash on the 6950. Although I'm only using 8GB of ram at this point. For gaming purposes 4-8GB is more than adequate, at least for now. :)
@Deathbringer99699 Yeah, my system is pretty similar, considering that I did the firmware flash on the 6950. Although I'm only using 8GB of ram at this point. For gaming purposes 4-8GB is more than adequate, at least for now. :)

@KSDG84 I'm using separate machines for the parts. The Radeon 6950 is in my Intel i7 920 rig, with an Asus P6T motherboard. The AMD Phenom II X6 1100T was installed into an older MSI K9A2 Platinum motherboard, to see how it would work with an older AM2+ motherboard. :)
@GamerTechBlog Ok so just to confirm that I read your post correctly, The AMD Phenom II 1100T BE DID in fact work with a MSI K9A2 Platinum MOBO, was this the V2 or the 1.0 ?
@myguitarkeepsmesane It is installed in the Version 2 of the MSI K9A2. MSI has the most recent bios version on their website available, and it has support for the 1090T and 1100T hex-core Phenom IIs. :)
@GamerTechBlog oh ok I have the version 1 and its not listed under the supported processors list, but im just gonna go with the 1090T because it is in the list, and its cheaper, besides the only difference is just a mere 100MHz, thanks for a quick reply,
@lopidope You certainly can use the stock cooler to get to 3.8Ghz or a bit higher. I'm running the stock cooler with it as we speak and the temps @ 3.8 Ghz idle around 32-35 Celsius. Under load, I get into the mid 40s or so. Certainly workable, although the max temps for the cpu are something like 55C. So, just make sure your airflow is decent before overclocking that much. You could try smaller overclocking steps and see what temps you end up with in your case. :)
@Vindictus2010 I would go for the 1100T because its better value for money. But essentially, they're both near-identical. Always go for the latest if you can :)
@Cosmeticmexx With a Black Edition AMD cpu, it is EASY to overclock. All you have to do is change the cpu multiplier in your bios to a higher setting, and that part is resolved. Of course, there may be some voltage bumps to be done, depending on your cpu. I can run at 3.8 or 4 Ghz with a minimal voltage increase. As far as the cooler goes, I'm using the stock cooler for the cpu, and running at 3.8 Ghz gives me around 32 degrees celsius at idle, which isn't too bad.
@ GammerTechBlog Your right, I attend a high school we use it in our engineering classes along with 3ds Max. The way my build looks it'll be around $760 but it'll pay for itself fairly quickly. Right now I have a slim emachine it can only use 1.25 gb of 4 so I'll notice a huge change from this computer to the one I'm building
@TheChickenSelect Yes, it is. I think the only non 64-bit cpus that AMD is still making might be some of the Sempron cpus, as well as perhaps some mobile cpus.
@GamerTechBlog Hi, I am running Phenom x4 2.4Ghz cpu, do you think I should upgrade to The x6 1100T? Also could you tell me what bottlenecking means. Great review thanks.
@LLOYD19851012 Unless you need more cores for multi-threaded tasks, then you probably wouldn't see a major increase in your gaming frame rates. Now, if you were overclocking the 1100T, you might see something nice in the frame rate department.
As for the term bottlenecking, I did a video for that for you. Take a look at the bottlenecking video in the Gamer-Tech channel. :)
@Jknessmic Shoot man, you won't even need liquid cooling for this cpu, unless you're looking for silent operation. 4.0 Ghz is attainable on air without a major fuss. With me running at 4.0 Ghz, I'm sitting around 36c with the stock cooler, which isn't too bad.
Htanks. I already built my Desktop with the Amd 6 core with 12 gigs of ram and ati 6950 with eyefinity set up. It runs so sweet!!! It was my first build and it went awesome! Thanks again.
@vasquez527 It is good to see that you're happy with the setup. I haven't personally done a gaming PC build with 12GB of ram (yet). Mostly for the reason that my gaming rig doesn't really have such a need. With 6 GB currently, it has been more than sufficient, at least for now. Good to know that things went well with your build, though!
@TheIdiotNamedR0ppu 4GB is more than sufficient for NOW. Perhaps in the future things will get a little more hefty as far as ram requirements are concerned. But you're good for now...
@vasquez527 Either brand of cpu is certainly usable for a gaming rig. Obviously, if you're preferring the absolute fastest proccy, get an Intel Sandy Bridge or a something like a $1000 high end "Extreme" cpu. The AMD Phenom II X6 1100T is still a decent amount of 6 core power, especially for the price. :)
P.S. When you get to the CPU BUS Freq part you can go up & down. What so cool about it you can watch your Target CPU Freq & Your Target Dram Freq go up & down. Example 286 is around 4.0Ghz.
