It's very invasive and it likes wetter ground. It's a grass, so it grows fast. It's very hard to get rid of once it takes hold. You can find a smaller variety at some plant stores. Waiting for my funny line yet? I don't have one.  It's bamboo.

My father spent about 3+ years trying to get rid of some wild bamboo and you went out and bought some :) There was a call out a couple of years ago for people near the interstate 66 coridor who had bamboo to let the Zoo (DC) know because they were low on reserves.
