  • I thought I was going to see a 10 minute make out session but no..

  • they should've put the end of kiss of death on this song

  • Consider this; if there was a "Youtube" in 1983 New Order would have a billion hit easy. No sh*t.

  • U68

  • New Order: the original synth jam band

  • I'd be just fine with another 10 minutes.

  • めっちゃ聞いた。そんで今も聞いてる。

  • MY FAVOURITE SONG,VIDEO AND BAND XXXX X

  • The faces at the end....

  • I loved this song in the eightys and in this new malenium it still has the same kick gurkirpal singh

  • 94 people have never felt the perfect kiss

  • Amazing, so simple yet so intimate. Not many musicians allow us to see how they play in the recording studio. But New Order, as great as it is, goes against that and makes us feel as if we were there, seeing them record that song.

For that, and much more, NEW ORDER RULES.

  • RIP Ian Curtis

  • this video makes me want to get up an applaud for them even though i know they can't see me. that's how good this is :)

  • Tonight I should have stayed at home,

Playing with my pleasure zone ... :D

  • I only wish I had discovered this video back in may 2006 not now. Perfect perfomance

  • truly amazin' AWESOME...should i say PERFECTo.

  • Did they really do that...XXXXX..meow...

  • I would SOOOOO much rather watch a video of a group "performing" their craft in an intimate set like this than watch a bunch of nonsensical lame storytelling. the concentration of their faces is priceless.

  • 0:58 = perfection...

  • @PhilanthropyClubUK

yea love that shot..like a painting!

  • Todays music is awful because we know how it have to be played.

  • 92 people haven't been kissed.

  • Why is there always someone hating on todays music? Have old people taken over the internet?

  • @Mitsimad It's not really the old people, that hate, because the old people don't even listen to today's music. I work with a lot of 18 to 25 year olds in a job skills institute and THEY complain about the quality of today's music themselves. Folks are craving for substance again. Either in the lyrics or in the musical quality itself. Lyrics are so lame and superficial and the same goes for today's beats, lame and instant. all sounds like it was cooked in the same microwave.

  • Sweet...epic score

  • Perfect song!

  • i like how they all have their battlestations on this track.

  • Wow!!!

    This is music!

    Wonderfull video.

  • the 80's had some really great songs and music!!!! PLEASE WHAT IS THE THING WITH .........RAP...CRAP? I GUESS THEY CA'T CARRY ATUNE EVEN IF IT IS IN A BAG!!!!!

  • @rickynovosad

All of these gangsters and their freakin rap make the world a pretty depressing place. I can't believe people think they look cool with clothes being twice their size hanging down to their ass. Clothes are ment to fit. As far as fasion goes, the 80's and 70's were definitly my fav'! ;)

  • Great video. Can someone post Sherlock?

  • @zatoichiyojimbo24 Elementary, my dear Watson, it's Shellshock the name of the song.

  • @SuperRod88 its 'The Perfect Kiss' 1985, 12'vers

  • @Alanrimshot I'm sorry, but 2 things: 1) have you actually read the question I was answering? Apparently not. 2) I know this is The Perfect Kiss, extended version and repeting myself one last time, have you read the person's question I was trying to reply? That's okay if you haven't read it, it's not something you're going to regret.

  • This is forever the epitome of COOL.

  • Hey, can somebody tell me the name of the song by New Order that has a video where to kids have sex and then go to the roof and scream cheerfully (or at least that's how I remember it). It's not so old (I mean, it's not from the 80's, it defensibly has less than 10 years)

    Thanks in advance =)

  • @freix138 "Krafty", from Waiting for the Sirens' Call.

  • Hammersong...mein Lieblingssong, diesen song habe ich mir damals in barry graves rias late night show gewünscht und dann mit dem tonband aufgenommen...man war das noch aufregend...

  • love the frog sound

  • one of their very best!

  • Every single bit of this song is amazing!

  • I also wanted to add that I love the fact that the keyboards on last half of the song reminds somewhat of a pipe organ.

  • Is this around the time they started hating each other's guts? I seem to sense some silent tension between the band members...or is it just the direction of the video?

  • @Laughingnahga I think they started having arguments because of the cowbell

  • @5:40 ish, frogs as a synth instrument= amazing!!!

  • @parkinish might be the live version for BBC just heard it on pandora so had to find it

  • We used artificial sounding instrument in the 80'sin music and that sounded GREAT!!!

today they use artificial voices.... AND THEY FUCKIN SUCK!!!!!!!!

  • awesome video, really. I think it really works with the meaning of the song. I also really like tbe cuts between the instruments, etc. awesome.

  • The world would be a duller place without New Order.

  • mif music managment come see us mr curtis made a choice and a group was made i will be bigger than tony willson my idol email me at mif musics managment

  • This song needs more cowbell.

  • I once heard an older version of this that was stripped down with less synthesizer in it and I don't remember hearing any vocals. It reminded me more of Joy Division. Sure wish I could find it on You Tube.

  • This is my birthday song it came out the day before I was born.. before knowing that, it was my favourite song on my 16th birthday in May 2001... I love this song but he sounds terrible from 2:20-3:10 oh well still a masterpiece

  • I agree with you @ alles 1008....but you have to admit....some music just plain SUCKS !!!...& some ( like New Order, Pearl Jam, The Cure, Blondie, Tom Tom Club, Pixies, Talking Heads...etc...) doesn't in my humble opinion

  • damn this song still rocks after all these bloody years! Tim Jeanal..

  • allright, got a ticket for the show in Brussels!

  • best song ever:D they were joy division 'not a surprise. they blow everybody out of the water in both forms 'well them and DM. if you don't like'em your just to cool for school & they're just no cure for your sickness;D

  • Love, Love the image of Ian Curtis in the doorway at the end.

  • Who would have thought that a cowbell and croaking noises could sound so cool?

  • @jeffgrossman Cowbell always sounds cool.

  • Last few minutes of jamming are awesome.

  • Wow, its just as epic as it was when I was 18. Dancing in the clubs in Hollywood.

  • I think the best bit about this amazing film clip is after the music has ended: the looks they give the camera and each other personify exactly what New Order was at that time and is still magic to me now so many years later…

  • Perfect Music !!!

  • @powerr8511

analog analog analog analog analog analog analog

  • put back my 18s!

  • I was 18 in 85 and this song was fkn shit, and still is!!!

  • new order el simplemente brutaaal....

  • I love how a lot of people are in love with the frog sound effects! :L

  • never get tired of listenin to this just bloody amazin tune

  • It may seems really weird to shake on frog's cawings

  • Listen. Think. Listen more. And dance.

  • @bobbycarolina75 I see your point & entertained it. But NewOrder is not in the class of the (pardon me) shit crap you describe so therefore your point is mute. I suggest a Music History class.

  • The frogs! The frogs !

  • o melhor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BAAAADDDDD AAAASSSSSS V*ID

  • A video of undisputed beauty, so far from the present taste, still perfectly balanced in an eqilibristic integration of opposites - the dynamics of music and the stillness of the images. Directed by Jonathan Demme, I mean...

  • peter hook....wow

  • I had this on VHS tape in the 1980s, still have all of their albums. A day without New Order music is a wasted one....

  • omg,...this is beyond words....i miss the days when musicians were magicians

  • THIS IS PERFECT !!!

  • The album, "Lowlife" is still one of the top 5 albums of the '80s. This song, along with "Elegia"...come on. Excellence.

  • PERFECT KISS FOR NEW ORDER FROM ME - THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT SONG FOR DREAMING

    Deutschland grüßt NEW ORDER

  • PERFECT KISS FOR NEW ORDER FROM ME - THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT SONG FOR DREAMING

  • The complete lack of emotion, especially from the girl, seemed to fit this synth style of music . My favorite part is at 51 seconds where she turns the knob up and then just kinda looks 'zoned out'.

  • This is the first time i have seen this video since it's original release. I've got goose bumps on goose bumps! What an immensly cool band and such a beautiful song. Still looking for that perfect kiss x

  • ESSE SOM É MAIS DO QUE MANERO!

  • the kiss of death! kiss me kiss me kiss me! the perfect kiss! NO NO NO!!! Yes Yes Yes!!!

  • absurdamente chic. new oreder o melhor de todos.

  • Everytime I look at a video older than 10 years, there's always some carmudgeon who'll say something like "yeah, back in those days there were 'good musician', that was before the corporate creations of justin bieber...blah blah". It's getting really tired. As if creations like Bieber are something new. 10 years ago it was Brittney Spears, before that the Backstreet Boys, go back to the 70s there's Leif Garrett. Music is also subjective, someone else's favorites might not be yours and vice versa

  • @bobbycarolina75 Amen to that.

  • @bobbycarolina75 - Then there's the thought, like the second highest rated comment (at the moment anyway) that it's somehow wrong for people to not like the music that they do. Contrary to their belief, the world would not be a better place if everyone liked the same music. There'd be no contrast. Things would get really stale really fast. I don't listen to Justin Bieber, but it's fine that people listen to him. Nobody's forcing me to listen to him.

  • @bobbycarolina75:

That may be kinda true, but the 21st century has cornered the market on shitty music.

  • @bobbycarolina75 true mate, but how the fuck do you compare new order to fucking pop music!! ffs

  • @bobbycarolina75 you should post that coment on every youtube video then, i'm also tired of "i was born in hurr durr and i like this derp hurrr" -.-

  • @bobbycarolina75 There's subjectiveness and there's shit. All those people you quoted are products designed to sell. There is a difference. But I agree, there has always been crappy money grabbers, since we started banging bones on trees.

  • @bobbycarolina75 It's important to remember, also, that the best artists of any time period were usually not the most popular artists of that period. The most popular ones are often inconsequential, and they usually end up getting swept under the rug and largely forgotten. So for all who hate Justin Bieber's music despite its popularity, chin up. No one will care about him in 10 years (and maybe less!). Plus, if you don't like it, turn off the radio. No one's making you listen.

  • Hooky the Hook

  • One great director: Johnathan Demme + Four Great Musicians: New Order = A classic.....

  • Superb!!

  • 4 great musicians. 1 masterpiece.

  • This is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!

  • Cowbell!!!!

  • @mcdonnelx2 Going to tell you why they've put the sounds of frogs: Stephen Morris simply loved it, so he wanted it to be on this song.

  • brian y esteve son imbesiles

  • This is the SHIT!!!

  • 8:05 is so f*cking great.

  • brian and steven looked real bummed out on the take, fools

  • Barney ..stop hittin that cowbell..you're out of time have the time !!! lol

  • WTF... why the put sounds of frogs on theyr music??? Google, i want the "WTF" button!!! =D PS. I like New Order, but have somethings "bizarre"

  • f*uck I don't have this version (sobs)!

  • O Chuk Norris tocava no New Order? O CARA E IDENTICO kkkkkkkkkkk

  • LOVE This!!!

  • Este som é incrivelmente bom, os caras são geniais...

  • rules

  • tune

  • DANCE ,DANCE, TO THE RADIO

  • This track develops like nothing else, from perfect, to perfect, then perfect, then... perfect. I can not understand how my colleagues are not able to get past 10 second mark... I thought I am the only one remembering this, but thank you all for the recent comments. :-)

  • I love this sort of 'techno' ... still putting it together as real artists would, not programming it all on a computer and pressing play.

  • @Nieghorn this isn't techno, it was a phase of new wave where keyboards were prominently featured, but other than the electronic sound of the synthesizer there is no relation to 'techno' which uses samples, looping and computer preprogramming

  • @discokidx1 that's why I typed 'techno' ...

  • Yamaha drum machine

  • One of the best tracks ever....can anyone tell me is that arthur baker in the background?

  • htis is my first favorite song.....

  • MORE COWBELL!!!!!!!!!

  • This song is so nerdy, you gotta love it!

  • "Tonight I should have stayed at home playing with my pleasure zone."

How many of us have staggered home after a lashing night out thinking the exact same thing?

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing song. Even more amazing to watch them do it live in the studio. Man, they all look so pissed.

  • when 1 genious die, the rest 3 genious continue to make it better

  • 81 people have no taste in music

  • How could you say that? You must be an Avril Lavigne or Katy Perry fan or something. This is the real thing. Considering Joy Division are Legends.

  • Comment removed

  • 81 people are still at the GaGa stage of evolution...

  • Almost 30 years and this song still sounds interesting and not even all that dated. Blows away most modern synth stuff out there. What a legendary band.

  • i like all the songs that involve the woman best, like tis one Procession & ,,, lonesome tonight.

  • Saw Peter Hook last night with his band the light doing a recital of CLOSER on the anniversary of Ian Curtis's untimely death. The set was superb and the renditions od Atmosphere, Novelty, These Days and Isolation are something that will remain with me forever - I hope some of you get the chance i have had to see this genius over the years since 1980

  • Genius of the highest order. Hooky was just something else and is certainly my greatest influence as a bass player.

  • @KeithAtHomeInBolton Correction: 81 people have no taste in music at all.

  • Amazingly influential stuff.

  • i know the focus of new order is not in good chant, but frankly in all the low-life album sumner is unlistenable

  • 80 people have the right to self-expression

  • i love Gillian @ 7:07...."Oh God no, the camera's on me!"

  • i dont like the dance stuff as much as early new order and joy division but this song is still a very good song the bass is fonominaly good love u hooky

  • How can you NOT like this song?

  • 80 people never had a perfect kiss

  • THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER.

  • reminds of 1984 or `85 whenever this came out. I bought the single (45 rpm - anybody even know what those are these days?) at the only alternative record store in Chicago at the time, Wax Trax on N Lincoln Ave. Then shortly therefore I met the love of my life, Susan from the UK. Oh those were happy times...

  • These guys pour their hearts into the music, and at the end, look embarrassed. LOL So English,I love it!

  • Always loved this ever since I saw it as a kid. Someone once said the dude backlit in the doorway was supposed to be Ian Curtis' ghost. If so, he's not dancing hard enough!

  • It's almost criminal that Hook HATES the rest of the band now. Here's to the memories...

  • what drum machine did he used?

  • @shoegazerjoy Not sure what drum machine Steve used on this song, but I programmed this into my Boss Dr220 and it sounded great.

  • @121BassTime waw. thanks man. appreciate it.

  • what drum machine did he used?

  • American music critics have never given synth rock (for lack of a better term) any respect. So groups like New Order never got the cred they deserved in the sates. Despite that people loved their music once they got to hear it.

  • @merkury06 Agreed. My parents called it "New wave" back in the 80's. I'm not sure if that's an industry term or just a NY 80's one.

  • @Dalessiokiller New Wave covers a pretty wide variety of things, but New Order are a pretty good archetypal example of all of the good things about it. New Wave was basically an evolution of punk, moving away from traditional RAWK AND ROLL stuff into a wider variety of musical styles.

  • Gillian is really good at twiddling knobs.
