nettle leaf in powder form found in any health food store will help prevent kidney stones.Take a half to a full teaspoon with warm water three times a day.Trust me, this works. If you have them, drink 3 oz of olive oil mixed with 3 oz of lemon juice to pass them.
Hydrangea root and marshmellow root have been proven to relieve pain assoc. with kidney stones in minutes and will dissolve most stones within a few days,,, for about $25,,, research it then u decide
You'll love this but it worked for me. I've had no pain in subsequent 6 mo. I experienced incredible pain! My AlternativesMedicine MD said "use a coffee enema once a day for a week. She bought organic coffee beans and ground some each evening, then boiled the grounds in a quart of water for a few minutes, 3 or 4, It is a vile brew. I don't like coffee. Cool the coffee a bit! Start the enema with about 1 cup of coffee, and hold for 5 min. Use the remainder and hold for 15 min. I passed the stone!
Drink SOBE Water...you can buy it in the grocery stores. It is "GREAT". All different flavors and it tastes just like pop once you get used to it. I have been drinking it now for over a month. They are decent sized as well so you can take them anywhere...
Someone said above that juice from lemons doesn't work and that you should use juice that comes in a bottle. Not true - Fresh lemon juice is fine.
4 days before I was scheduled for an endoscopic surgery, I drank fresh lemon juice mixed with fresh olive oil (quite a lot and quite gross to tell the truth) but it did the trick. Also drank litres of water of course. At the hospital they did an untrasound (unfortuantely after they drugged me for the procedure!) and couldn't find any stones.
My brother had lithotripsy and the stone was split in half but susequently became stuck in the tube that goes to the bladder, after several months he once again went through lithotripsy but the stone did not move. Several months after that some guys at work told him to drink corn silk tea. He simple started using the silk right off the top of field corn, would brew it and drink it daily within a week he passed the stone with no discomfort.
botheparrot: I was not clear. Some people might get the idea they can get lemons at the supermarket and make lemon juice or lemonaid. The studies that show lemonaid reducing kidney stones is based on the bottle lemon juice. Hope that is clear.
The herb chanca piedra is awesome. I get it from Whole World Botanicals. When I found this herb I had already passed a stone a few months before and I had a scan that showed that I had a stone on the other kidney. So I was upset when I started getting pain on the same side that I had just passed a stone. I don't know if I had a stone on that side but around a year later I had another scan and the other stone was gone.
I keep buying this same brand because I believe it works and it does taste good, like tea. This brand is made with vegetable glycerin and water and not with alcohol. I paid $45. for a 4oz bottle, but you can get it online for $27. I take a maintenance dose now a few times a week, I also take 1/2 a lemon juice every morning. (when I remember)
I don't know if my stones are calcium oxalate or the uric acid kind. I get pain in my big toe sometimes probably because of the HCTZ I take so it makes me think that my stones are probably because of uric acid. I wonder if anyone else has that problem?
Hey Dr.M ~ my friend has staghorn stones. and his doctor told him to not eat fruits and veggies-at least to cut way down to minimal intake. whats your opinions on this concerning staghorn type stones? hes had many surgeries because of this type of stone.
Second question please- im mostly a raw vegan(not always) but trys to follow alot of 80/10/10... is there a risk of stones due to a large volumes of kale and other greens that contain alot of oxalates.same with fruits?
I think drinking a LOT of water with higher veggie intake is good. Water is the best way to dissolve away kidney stones, (i think) and keep them at bay.

56 gallons of soda per year???? appalling. kidney stone sufferers should switch that consumption over to lemonade or water with lemon juice in it.

I believe an old folk remedy was citrus acid, drinking lots of straight lemon juice, then followed by lemon aid.

no vidguy007, it has to be reconstituted lemon juice, like Real Lemon brand, Fresh lemons are wrong, you have to use the bottled lemon juice.

What did they do before they put lemon juice in a bottle?
Cranberry juice shows up on a Google search too.
