  • Lol it's like watching Zoolander...all the epic face shots...

  • Okay now let's all get and distribute Metalica! :P

  • jajaja, we have emule, and others, jajaja

  • the only way of stopping people from illegal downloading is . .! . THERE ISN'T A WAY ANYMORE AHAHAHHAHAAHA _|_

  • Lol 2 Napster. Nothing very brilliant about it. Now, Bit Torrent - that is clever.

  • @daniel1982 that's what napster was....

  • Hey all you people this video is great but all you lame PC/MS users are missing 1 big thing. APPLE!!!! Crawl back to your virus riddin PC's/Daf interface/copy cat bugger all system and just remember THE MAC

  • Comment removed

  • I see, for some reason mac users feel that they are protected from viruses by the great apple eh? Know that macs are not invulnerable, PC's are prone to viruses because it is so popular that people like making viruses, it feels good when you infect someone. Mac's, who the fuck do you infect? No one uses a mac, no one want's to make a virus.

  • u fail

  • Nobody give a f about viruses!!!I dont give a f about them. You are missing the BIG Thing,if there was no MS and windows Internet would be what it is today cause nobody would have money to afford 1500 euros MAC that can do the same thing as 300 euros PC (browse the net, listen the music and do custom pictures in paint because not all of us are artists and we really don't edit photoes in PS ;)

  • FUCK THE RIAA !!!

  • That old bitch she chews gum, she is the kind of old mean fart and probably a whore.

  • That NAPSTER dude will go down in history as the pioneer of online music and video entertainment.

  • this documentary is ridiculously biased towards the music industry. just because you like music, it doesn't mean you can just take whatever you want. there are people who are trying to live off of this. it just shows how incredibly short sighted the general public is. as soon as musicians aren't making any money selling CD's, they'll have to jack up the prices for playing shows. then the fans will act like the artists are ripping THEM off by charging a hundred bucks for a show

  • Napster surely the started the revolution in

    web. I like this video

  • i first used limewire in 2000 than i used winmx, bearshare, kazaa and linewire was red with a big e

  • I so remember this in 1999. lol

  • this guy the presenter makes me angry dam he is sooo stupid and ugly I mean couldnt they get a better guy omfg this guy ...aaargh

  • Heilemann's ugly, sure. But stupid? Um, no.

Maybe you are, and you're projecting?

  • I originaly said stupid cuz he made me mad when he said the ugliest band about MetallicA and maybe I was way out of line , I get it he is smart , but u gotta understand that i aint the only guy that dislikes this Heilemann

  • Damn you

  • can i get recent videos of this programm

  • Still, the video overstates how difficult things were before Napster. You didn't really have to program anything; IIRC, I got music either from bots on IRC or from FTP servers that were appearing and disappearing all the time. With enough persistence, you could still get just about anything. And downloading was usually faster than Napster, even if finding what you wanted could, as the documentary correctly states, take days or weeks.

  • I thought Napster's shutdown was hilarious because of how many better and less centralized p2p apps were around even at the time. Downloading one file from one user (and having utter failure when that user disconnected) seemed so silly, but Napster was the most popular, so I was often forced to use it.

I predicted that the better applications would find more users, they did, and now finding music (not to mention just about anything else) is even easier than in the Napster days.

  • Isn't Limewire the new Napster?

  • Sorta

  • EPIC Shoplift

  • Boo RIAA!!

  • this is a great documantary, I had no clue what was going on back then since I'm only 14 now...
