@ChromeGhost0219 no the concept of camo was not popular and you must remember the people were not solders they were farmers with guns. they didnt want to blend in with the trees they wanted to blend in with "normal" people

My take on it is simply that if it wasn't standard, don't do it. Better to portray the common, than to explain away everything that's uncommon about one's kit. There are other things more common to militia - and just as inexpensive - that one can choose, such as a market wallet.

I don't think militia wore haversacks. Those were military-issue items. Also, cotton was not in wide use at the time. Linen is a much better choice. Viewers, please be advised there is no such thing as a "generic" anything when it comes to portraying any historical person. There are vast regional and socio-economic variations to consider.

@RevWarDrummer now I some times carry a haversack (when appropriate) when I do 1770's longhunter and I have found refferances to militia wearing haversacks. the way I see it is if aslong as it has been made in a correct material (linen is a good choice) and the button(s) have no military marking and the haversack its self has no military marking (such as "GR") it would be good for any impression.
