  • Nice set up, what size flue does is it use

  • @GabodaBuilding it's a 5" flue.

  • Mind if I ask what this system cost, installed? And now that you've had it a while, how long you believe the payback period will be vs. using oil for your heat and domestic hot water? Thansk.

  • @jennifermillerboyle1 Under 10k to install 4-6 years pay back. Now with all the crap thats going on in the middle east I'm really glad to have it.

  • and also is this mainly for water heating or does it also heat the whole house?

  • @Engineer5344 It's a boiler, so it ties right into my forced hot water system.

The basement does get nice and warm just from it running down there.

    It's actually comfortable.

  • is there a certain control box that controls the speed of the augger?

  • can you tell me how this operates and how often you have to tend to it to make sure nothing goes wrong with it please?

  • @Engineer5344 I top off the bin once a month and empty the ashpan once a week unless its REALLY cold. Sometimes I may not look at it for three or four days but a quick peek once a day is best. The way it works is the coal comes up the auger the transfers down to the fire. When the anthrastat placed uderneath the fire tube detects the temp getting low. It pulls in a selenoid which pulls the ash of the bottom of the burn tube and into the ash pan. Its very simple but very dependable.

  • You would think they could have quieted this some, it sounds like 2 skeletons screwing on a tin roof!

  • @adxoplo LOL, what a graphic!

Believe it or not it's quiter than my oil fired boiler now that the feed tube is wrapped with high temp fiberglass tape.

  • @pd4104gmbus If they would have lined the tube with rubber or polyurethane it would be much quieter also.

  • @adxoplo Yikes, that would be great until it caught fire! Sometimes for a couple of different reasons the fire will try to burn up the feed tube and near the auger. That's why the High temp fabric was my simple $20 solution.

  • @harrymook

    What is the ROI?

  • @harrymook

Thanks for the info! When I get rich I'll set-up a really slick solar hot water system.

Believe it or not I price it out before I did this and the pay back was about 30 yrs. This was 4-6 yrs. Solar energy is awesome no doubt but its not very affordable to get it set-up. I believe it WILL in the future.

  • Do the math. 26 Million BTUs per ton @ $240 per ton

Besides, do you want to pay Saudis for oil or Americans for coal?

  • what brand is this?

    where did youi get it?

    thanks

  • hi i have an hs tarm ot boiler 30 years old

i just started burnin coal im just getting the hang of it.its sick and warm and cheap

but this ia awsome, what a sick machine

i want one .but dont have the room lol

i use a shovel thanks for posting

  • hi i was thinking about installing one of these in my home i was wondering if u could send me a video on how it is piped into your exsiting boiler thanks

  • Nothing if you like paying 3 times more to heat your home. During the summer months the oil fired boiler heats the hot water. It is also my backup if I have an out fire during the winter months. Anthracite coal gives you the most BTU's for your money hands down.

  • @pd4104gmbus I agree, I bought a used eshland coal gun 2004 model, S130, it will heat my house on 4 ton per year, SCREW OPEC. ESHLAND is now owned by alternate heating systems here in PA.

  • I'm heating a 2500 sq ft house. This boiler ties into my forced hot water system. If the boiler goes out the oil furnace will take over, but not for long. Burning oil makes my skin crawl! So, I make sure I get the AA-130 back up quickly. It usually runs for months on end without any problems. If you want to learn more about burning anthracite search for Nepacrossroads. Its a great forum!

  • Whats wrong with burning oil?

  • Burning oil is much better for the Environment compared to Coal, but it's more expensive..

  • Fantastic! I am looking at gasification wood boilers, maybe I need to look at one of these. How big a house are you heating? What is your setup?

  • @Stammon Alternate heating systems sells a WOOD GUN as well as a COAL GUN, the wood gun is a gasification unit, and they are VERY efficient. their coal guns run at about 90% efficeinecy too.
