What health care would we truly have then?

Socialism is when the means of production is owned by the government. The government in no way owns the means of production in healthcare. It just reimburses hospitals for the care received by the patients hence the name insurance. Hospitals are free to refuse to treat medicare patients and patients are free to get private insurance. This does not qualify as socialism.

garysher is right. Many companies offer their employees health insurance but if your spouse has a job that offers insurance they demand the spouse buy it through that job. Often times its way more expensive. That means millions of Americans have an incentive to quit their jobs because they are basically working to pay for their health insurance. Its more productive to quit work and stay home with the kids because at least then you qualify for your spouses insurance coverage.

I was reading about blasphemy. It is the intentional degredation of religion. Thomad Paine was charged with it. Even today, it does not automatically enjoy first amendment protection. I define socialism as the government owning the means of production, yet workers getting paid different amounts. Take distilled spirits. You cannot lawfully make, drink or give away distilled spirits. Only those who are allowed by the govt may distill spirits, and they may only sell them to the government who determines who may resell the spirits and at what price.
