Even though I don't really care much for Morrowind (considering it was really hard!) I kinda like the theme, although the Oblivion one is the coolest IMO. Could you do a video on Morrowind's theme (Call of Magic) or maybe the Oblivion one. (Reign of the Septims)
@Advanceshipper21 This version has the morrowind theme, but I like that theme so much that I plan to do another cover of it =) I'm not as familiar with the oblivion one, but I'll give it a listen!
Awesome. My daughter loves Skyrim so I've shared this with her on FB. Thanks for taking the time to put this together and share with everyone. You did an excellent job.
Congratulations, you are the only legitimately skilled string player on youtube that plays video game music besides Ben Chan, and you're definitely better than he is
Ahh! I'm so happy to have found someone good in both viola and violin! ^-^ This video is incredible by the way; you should be proud! Like the bed head...
Woah! Seriously amazing job on this! The only thing I feel it needs is some sort of lower bass instrument, and this becomes worthy of being the actual main title screen music!
This is a fantastic arrangement. You've put a lot of love and work into it, as you do with all your other covers. There will always be those few that won't be satisfied for whatever reason. Don't ever let that discourage you! keep doing what you do as long as it makes you happy. :)
(Sorry for sounding all sappy, but I had to let you know that! XD)
Thank you =) I use Pirastro Evah Pirazzi strings, which are fairly costly ~$70 AUD here, a lot of musicians recommend changing them half year to yearly, but I have used these strings since 2005. Hope that helps!
The tuning was great and all the parts worked really well together. It's just a different "sound" compared to the original track, but it's still wonderful. Awesome. :)
Really good, but the dragonborn part is a bit too slow, the and I don't know if you noticed, but instead of the 1-1-2 you did 1-1-2-1 ( I don't play an instrument or have basic knowledge of notes, but you added in the lower sound where the higher sound should go, and after it you added the beginning note. :( Hope out of my un-knowledge someone can decipher what i'm trying to say
@ThatGuyisok Hmm, I think I have a decent idea which part you mean - but I arranged and played this from my memory of the song, so chords and even some of the rhythm may not be 100% the same, sorry! It is also the reason I didn't put the word cover in the title, but I hope you could enjoy my interpretation nonetheless! =)
I dunno, this sounded quite epic to me, especially about 3/4 of the way through with the rapid arpeggios and trading off of the melody. Still would be great to hear a full string quartet version!
@docnanomusic Thanks Doc, I was actually very close to deleting this video, but I'm glad you could find some part of it to enjoy. I would also love to hear a full string version or partake in one some day =)
@Verdegrand I'll see, but will def be more careful when uploading more chamber music/pure string pieces in the future. Anyway, cello is a much bigger jump compared to violin --> viola.
Main benefits are that I have actually learnt cello previously (until it confused my bow holding) and that I understand bow pressure a little. The negatives is that everything about it is different. It would take me many years/decades, but I would be willing to put the time in.
@8Amaterasu8 oh too bad cello is a bigger jump, it surprises me tbh, but yeah i don't know much about string instruments. but cool that you would want to invest the time into it. in the end you could do a string quartet with the members A Ma Tera and Su :)
@Verdegrand Oh I also forgot to say that I am still a child/novice in my violin studies. The amount of things for me to learn even after learning all the techniques is soul crushing lol.
@sedibluebird Thank you! The different techniques in the violin and the merging of sounds to create more colorful piece was something I had in mind, so I'm glad you could enjoy that aspect =)
You are amazing, and you deserve more views than this. From now on, anywhere I go, I shall leave your name. Everywhere. I AM sworn to carry your burdens.
I think a cello or two would have helped with the 'epic' sound that was lacking. Often, a driving low rhythm from a cello can make a previously boring piece epic. ((The best example of this is Pirates of the Caribbean's "The Medallion Calls" instrumental piece. I know because I've played it with an orchestra before, as the cello section, and without it it's very dull.))
I don't know if you were going for your own style, or it was just really un-tuned, but I really didn't like how this sounded. All the notes were off, nothing sounded "epic" as most skyrim covers do. It was all just kind of bland and mixed in to one flat sound. Don't mean to sound mean, I have just seen much better from you.
@vaguedustin Thanks for the feedback, even though I'm not sure about it being very un-tuned. My perfect pitch isn't 100% accurate, but relatively it doesn't seem too out to my ear, but maybe yours is more sensitive.
I also appreciate that you may not like this arrangement, or my less than stellar playing and mixing that created a bland sound, and can only hope that you can enjoy some other vids =)
@8Amaterasu8 Props for the quintet arrangement and the video itself! However, I do have to agree with @vaguedustin. The intro sounded fine, but as it lead into the chorus, I felt that it lost the momentum that had built up. I can't really say if it could be because there is no cello or bass, but I do feel that more dynamic could've helped. The "forte" seems to be missing in the harmony. Then again, I know making videos like this isn't so easy. Nevertheless, I do await more uploads from you! :)
@krissalad Thanks krissalad, I don't think I would tweak the dynamics if I did it again personally, and I can't push my violin further to provide contrast between techniques without breaking the sound, but that could also be due to skill level, but I appreciate the feedback! =)
@Frikkengreat78 Haha yeah, sorry about that. Violin player lingo, many people in orchestra just refer to violin/viola/cello/double bass players as string players! =D
You should cover the chrono cross theme (scars of time), that owuld be AWESOME!!!
