  • One of the finest pianists of the last century. This is indeed as good as it could be played. She was indeed a genius of the piano TY truecrypt for posting this gem of a performance of a lifetime.

  • there's a version of this with 7 million views by wilhelm kempff and it's no where near as good as this one.

  • When Yudina weas at her best, she really was THE best. Probably not since the first time I heard it in childhood have I been so excited by this movement.

the tempo is PERFECT, the phrasing incomparable. It just

CRACKLES like lightning and ROARS like a gale force wind. TEMPESTUOUS is too mild a word for it.

Like an attempt to escape imminent Death on a wild steed hurtling through the forest in the dark of night

Schubert must have drawn inspiration for Der Erlkoenig from THIS dark passion.

  • I have loved the majority of these recordings of Yudina. She has definitely become one of my favorite interpreters.

    Thanks for sharing the music!

  • ! was going to say her rhythmic and tonal clarity have always been 2 of her strong points. But more to that we have the comosition as if we are not just on lookerss but particiapating. this is Yudinas key attribut to her performances.

  • This really is amazing. Among almost all pianists (and I know this is an outrageous statement) I am most apt to describe her not as someone who "plays" the music.....but as someone whom the music "goes through."

  • Wow. I never really expected that kind of rhythm from Yudina.

  • I wouldn't expect any other kind of rhythm from her :-)
