That's a miscommunication! some people believe that god always was, as that's hard to prove disprove it can be considered irrelevant, other people believe in an infinite regress, but I don't, there had to be a constant, something that was there to kick it off, and whether that was god or if it was natural occurrence is up to you to figure out, just try not to rule-out, or rule-in god meaninglessly.
