@alibuu 600hz is the refresh rate of each pixel, not the full frame. Sony's are good, I've sold both Sony's and panasonics just don't pay extra for their motion flow gimmick. It doesn't really help much it makes it more fluid but you also get aritifacts as well.
@TheDrKnegas Well what's wrong with plasma's? They actually have a much faster response rate than LCD. Motion flow is a gimmick, it's a feature used because since LCD's have a slower response time they have image blur which is more noticeable the larger the panel size. Motion flow ups the framerate but it interpolates(Software guessing) how the frames in between should look. So sometimes you actually have errors on the screen(double rendering) because of it.
Why is there a Panasonic logo on each of the displays? In my opinion the Panny will look better by default if the test video is from Panasonic. Normally Plasma TVs are better for watching blue rays and home cinema. But it depends which Plasma model of which producer (Sony, Panasonic, LG etc.) you compare with which LCD model.
for me, its better to watch on a 240hz lcd tv than a 600hz plasma. I can really see the difference, watching movies on a 240hz lcd looks like your watching telenovela. looks like your watching a live shooting of the movie. its like 3d-ish.

Never buy a plasma if you it is for gamming, because the plasma has image burns. That means if you leave your xbox 360, your ps3 or any other device outputing 720p and above to your plasma screan tv and you have it on a menu then it can burn an image through the screen. if you buy a plasma for movies and sports then your good, Lcd is good for everything gaming movies and sports but they have a smaller refresh rate. but for gamming, lcd is the way to go. Or just get a LED tv, there awesome :D
@bbbeenn32 plasma's are an overall better TV. But be careful some (most) plasma's have an issue with a picture being permanantly stuck, like: the outline of the hud of a video game sticks to the TV. Fortunantly, that only happens when the TV is brand new. So if you decide to get a plasma, be sure to watch movies/TV shows (some image that doesn't last for more than five seconds) for about a month before playing video games. It's not necessary, but it's a safe procaution. =D
@keveydaking No, 30FPS On a game with a 120Hz monitor/ TV = 30FPS, not 150FPS. 60FPS on a 60Hz monitor/ TV = 60FPS. You can only see the output of the game's FPS, as it is limited to the refresh rate of the TV/ monitor (Example a 24Hz TV with a game running @ 60FPS means you only see 24FPS, a 60Hz TV with a game running @ 30FPS means you only see 30FPS). So 60FPS with a 60Hz monitor/ TV is better. I hope this helped.
@keveydaking 120Hz might be smother than 60Hz, but you will not see more than 60FPS from the games on consoles. (Unless you disable vertical synchronization in say COD4 through modding, but it's still limited to 90FPS because of the game's frame rate limit.) On PC however, a game can run at the refresh rate of the moniter (Say 120Hz). So, for consoles not really, for PC yes.
@keveydaking okay for LCD's alot of them have a higher refresh rate 120hz,240hz(60hz is standard). So basically 120hz will double whatever framerate the program you're running, the thing is it's interpolating more frames and the motion is suppose to be more fluid. Honestly though i don't like that feature in the tv. Alot of Plasma's have that 600hz but it's the refresh rate per pixel but the frame rate will still be 60. I prefer plasmas to LCD's though for a faster repsonse time.
@FatalShot808 Hmmm that's very interesting! Yeah so the 600hz on plasma is an actual "sub field drive" that runs 60 frames per second, 10 times, making it 600 frames per pixel - making the pixels respond extremely fast and running liquid smooth? Correct me if I'm correct or reading you wrong.
I also saw an LG 42" LCD 60hz on sale at Best Buy that suppose to have a 4 millisecond response time. Isn't that very fast for a 60hz LCD bigger than 32 inches?
I agree with you, and probably this video was made with progressive cam 25Hz or 30Hz. That's the reason why plasma flashes, because plasma is actually kind of interlacing pictures and LCD not, and that's the reason why plasma is way better then LCD for human eyes, mostly for fast scenes and sports. For all others, go to shop and compare with your own eyes and do not make conclusions by that video. The camera is actually shooting 600Hz interlaced from plasma and 200Hz prog. LCD.
If plasma screens would be covered with anti reflective film as LCD screens do choice would be much easier - most of us would buy plasma, beacuse it provides similar image quality for a lower price.
@leszken Yeah that glare is absolute no-no for me due to the fact that I live in a high-rise building with a natural bright lit apartment. My neighbor bought a Samsung 51" plasma recently, but didn't get the warranty and she loves it at night, but during the day she says "its like looking in a mirror".
to all of you: human eye vs refresh rate: did you know that the human eye can only register the image with 60 hz refresh rate? 600hz- pure marketing!
also, mobile phones with 16 million colors screens are the same to the human eye as those with 262.144 (18-bit) colors simply couse human eye cant see the diference!!! contrast, on the other hand, is totally diferent ball game...
@skijeti Not true, pilots have detected and identified the type of enemy plane in 1 and 200 frames per second. Furthermore, we can detect up to around 500 frames per second, although everyone is different. The reason 24fps looks smooth, is because it is blurry.
totally wrong, especially if your talking about refresh rate more than frame rate.
Even with old CRT where only refresh was doubled, there was a difference between 50/60Hz and 100/120Hz. Lots of people don't see it first, but once you use your TV, then go back on a 60Hz TV, everybody should see that the 60Hz TV is flickering.
Add people who can't work on CRT computer screen at 60Hz without getting headache, while having no problem once the refresh rate is at least of 85Hz....
Yes there was a difference between 60 hz and say 75 hz on the old CRT but only if you'r watching it true a video camera panel (or record movie via mobile phone camera of that CRT onscreen image). Then you can see the flickering. A normal, everyday eye- just can't see the diference. There's been a huge research on this subject and if you google it i'm sure you'll find it...
@xXxmadSinxXx I actually looked around for tvs for many months, trying to decide. Here's a way to go: If you wanna use less than $2000, buy the Panasonic G20/G25. Beautiful Contrast for intense scenes, the 600Hz, and the most beautiful moments in gaming/HD sports. One thing though, put it where light doesn't hit the TV directly. You will see reflections. If you're wanting to waste more than $2000, then you buy LCD or LED-LCD. I recommend Sony televisions for the most crisp and colorful scenes.
@xXxmadSinxXx get plasma its cheaper and you can't tell the deference anyways , i owned LCD 52" Samsung 1080p 60hz i broke when i was drunk... now i have plasma 51" 720p 600hz Samsung.. believe me or not the plasma has much much better picture and a much cheaper
Fact I have a 52 inch XBR Sony Bravia ($3600) and a 58 inch Samsung plasma series 860 ($2000) Had them both in same room (4 windows) and my Samsung blows the Bravia out of the water. The blacks the colors, movement hands down the Samsung wins every time with out a doubt. The only area the Bravia pulls ahead and way ahead is sound it's in my bedroom and sounds so good there is no need for external speakers. But my Samsung is hook up to KEF 9000 so the speakers on the Samsung don't bother me that
@lubluelitok not to mention that is a low to mid range Bravia, if they had a LED backlit 900 top of line Bravia, it'll kill any plasma over and over again. i mean a XBR9 can simply rape any shitty plasma.
mine also flickers, but some reason i have two tvs a lcd and plasma lol 42, one is 60ohz and the lg is 120, an djust got my plasma they both look amazing,do t liek the flickering
Standard movies are on 24p. These systems only add additional frames between 24p's frames, that are generated by the system (thanks to the motion analysis). Go to the cinema - big screen and 24p. Do you perceive the movements as blurry or not fluent? So, what's up?
Plasmas are better because the control of the colour gradation is almost unlimited, especially in comparison to the LCD. LCD with LED backlight are much better, but still plasma offers really black 'black' with accuracy to ONE pixel.
From 50 HZ 2 100 HZ Theres a HUGE difference! From 100 HZ 2 200 HZ Theres almost none difference... From 200 HZ 2 600 HZ theres not much difference, but theres bigger differnece then from 100 2 200 HZ...
@HamGames The eye is fooled even by 25 fps for movies. 60 Hz only applies to CRT monitors/TVs, not plasma/LCD ones, so anything above that is useless.
skip thePlazma heartz and go buy yourself a NEW TECHNOLOGY media explicit 200HZ $2700.00 47"lcd and an extended three year warranty cause you'll need it @ $240.00 additional and another lcd tv the following year because of dead specs or vertical lines then another one the year after that and another lcd warrenty and enjoy your games.
Plasma @ 600hz is almost basically the same as 200hz LCD. So you would want to pick the TV that you prefer. LCD is great for all around use. Plasma is great for watching in the dark, you can then see a difference. So I would buy the 200 LCD for the way I watch TV. Where plasma is superior is in the dark or low light use and from any angle you see the picture. LCD is superior in all but dark but still good enough but not viewable from extreme side angles. The more angle the less quality w/ LCD
Never-mind the last comment under my name, my son watched a video and said some stupid things. I deleted it I hope. I am an Electrical Engineer and people have a misconception on how Hz affect different things. We know 60Hz. is more efficient, the AC currents sine wave alternates direction of electron flow 60x p.second. The number of frame rates available from the source is not the Hz. as the video my son watch said. No relationship. LCD tech. vs Plasma tech is not the same so 600 plasma=200 LCD
I would say mostly people wrongly discern motion blurr for crappy bandwidth/cable. Either a crappy provider or faulty cables running into your house/apt or jaggies on a TV that doesn't smooth well. (taking into consideration if a TV set to dyanmic contrast).
@sawink its 200hz in europe. we use a 60hz signal in north america so when they multiply that signal by 4 it becomes 240hz. the signal out of a power socket in europe is 50hz, the tv multiplies that number by 4 and they get a 200hz signal.
@adoodas Ahh You would think HZ which is ...Hertz is uniform? Frame rate (standard) in Euope is slower than at 50HZ compared to NA 60Hz? And if you quadrupled the 60 its 40Hz more from rate than Quadrupaling 50 Hz will 3 extra interpolated video frames? I give up on this conversion crap, if Europe's 50Hz equals a NA 60Hz? A Hz is a Hz? DAMN IT!!!!!!!
It looks crapy just because the camera is not sync well with the higher refresh TV. So there is no point comparing those tvs and put them on this video.
@Kelvari7882 wow.. my plasma is badass.. sound, video both a grade of A+ the only thing bad about plasmas is the tempatures they reach, i keep the room cold so thats not an issue!!
@0:36 if you pause the image you can see that LCD image is freakin blurry, plasma is sharp :D
120hz 240hz 600hz... this shit just give me more and more input lag bkz of video processing, not good for gaming. And i think that movies were ment to be played @24fps nothing more, nothing less.
600Hz is a bluff. Get the store you are buying from to do a comparison between a good 200Hz LCD/LED (like the Sony in the video above) and any 600Hz plasma and you'll easily see the difference. 600Hz is really 100 frames per second whereas 200Hz is really 200 frames per second on the reliae brands.
led is very smart.. untill they put the little buggers on the side of the tv..do even look at ur tv from side on when watching.. is it worth a shit picture for a tv thats a few mm thinner, leds behind the screen = genius.. led edge lighting is not.. i mean not only is it lighter on the outside and darker in the mid if you have 2 boxes for eg say black with white boarder if the one in the middle flashes and the one on the outside is solid it will flash anyway..2 huge flaws
@cambo91 I work for sony and we are agents for the panasonic also the reason the 200hz is better is coz its just that.... 200hz... but the "600hz" panasonic is only technicaly 100hz :) they say its 600hz because it gets to choose between refreshing 1 in 6 frames at 100hz so they say its 600 but its just a sales con trust me we have both TV's in our shop and the sony 200hz is currently the top tv on the market. hope that helps. oh and you get screen burn on the plasma thats why sony moved to lcd
@goku8384145 Okay man thats fair enough. Sonys are a nice screen but I do like samsung TV's because over in AUS they are much cheaper then sony and the quality is amazing.
@cambo91 awesome man I agree! I have a samsung 50" plasma with the 600hz thing ha ha ha sorry to be a traitor all sony guys but the funny thing is that all sony screens are actually being made in the samsung factory :) thats why the samsungs are so good this year! sony is the best brand the vlue for noney.... nobody can beat the samsung :)
@cambo91 yep it is only 100hz :) but thats all I need cos I only use it as a computer monitor.... im using it right now to type this message. and right after I type this message Im gonna play need for speed under cover, we got the newest sony 3d tv in the shop on demo now its awesome! but that technology isnt new... nvidia has been doing it for ages I had the sterioscopic glasses when I got my first 120hz samsung monitor then I upgraded to the tv but the tv(600hz) is to slow for 3d :)
One thing I noticed was that the picture on the TV to the right lags behind the one on the left. So it seems that plasma would make a better gaming TV, burn in or no.
the plasma actually looks more realistic. the colors are more realistic and the foreground objects tend to pop out a bit more.. u can really tell when they show the buildings..
goddammit, if that's the plasma on the left it's flickering all over the place, or has that got to do with the camere filming it? I thought plasma was the way to go but I would go mad looking at that kind of flicker all the time. Would this also occur on a Pioneer Kuro?
LCD with 120 hz is slightly better than a plasma with 600hz subfield drive...even though the plasma is operating at 60hz...it doesnt lag like liquid crystals do.
each one has its pros and cons.....plasmas have the best color while LCD's have better clarity....Plasmas have glass screens opposed to LCD's plastic screen...so if you are in a bright room you probably are better off with the LCD and vice versa...as far as reliablity, plasmas have increased their lifespan which is now the same as LCD's which is 60,000hrs of play, or 12-55yrs
Lets clear this all up for you who dont know. 600hz subfield is a marketing technique created to compete with LCD when they introduced the 120hz LCD. Plasma tv's have 10 subfields that operate at 60hz each...The reason 60hz looks slow on a LCD is because it takes a while for the electric current to charge the LCD. Plasmas on the other hand works from lights charged with xenon and neon gas...Because it's a gas, electricity activates it quicker than it would activate liquid crystals.
@iamnvedbyu People watching this video are not taking into consideration 2 things. 1. Shutter rates on a camera. You can't tape two different hz TVs with 1 camera on 1 shutter speed and not change them to compensate for the rates. It's an inaccurate test. 2. Google compresses it's video with their own player, so you don't get true HD to see quality here. The people who like to bash 600 hz TVs are those that do not have one. I have LCD & Plasma, I watch Football on my Plasma for obvious reasons.
anyone here who keeps saying that you can see that "flicker" because of the tv reaching the cameras refresh rate on the left, this may be true in a crt... but these aren't. I shoot game reviews by just aiming the camera at my HD and its only 60hz and I get no flicker at all... secondly... this video is useless, because you can't tell a thing technically since you're just viewing it through the quality of an uploaded video.
think the plasma being used is using a 600Hz "Sub pixel drive" method. u will be fooled if you directly compare that to 200Hz "refresh rate". Not identical comparisons. both offer very similar low judder video, my experience shows LCDs with 1ms/200Hz wins overall score for picture/smoothness. backlight scanning is also imp to check.
calculation for 96/72Hz is correct but that's why we have 24p support to match 100 Hz. u see broadcast standard is still 50Hz (60Hz - based on location).
is there a video on here somewhere where they show a lcd a crt and a plasma side by side. because what I've seen so far is that the crt is way more superior in every way exept for size
i was also comparing 200hz lcd with 600 hz plasma but i hardly can tell the difference, however since lcd,s has a lower response time then plasma, you can say plasma faster, but i call it a joke ,they got to put 2 plasmas 200 & 600 hz side by side so you can tell if there,s true differences or not!!??
@johneymute well atleast there not lying and you can see a difference.. the one on the left is clearly slower because u can see the flashes on the screen due to the cameras refresh rate being near it. but the ont on the right is completly clear. so i guess get the 600hz if you like recording ur tv with cameras other wise just get the 200hz. eyes cant tell a difference over 160hz anyway
Im after a new hdtv.the ones I see lately all specify they are 50 hz. Will it be a problem gameing on it as its all its guna be used for?

@bbbeenn32 Plasma often has a better image quality, but after some time the image "burns" into the screen.
dolph123454321 7 months ago
@bbbeenn32 plasma's are an overall better TV. But be careful some (most) plasma's have an issue with a picture being permanantly stuck, like: the outline of the hud of a video game sticks to the TV. Fortunantly, that only happens when the TV is brand new. So if you decide to get a plasma, be sure to watch movies/TV shows (some image that doesn't last for more than five seconds) for about a month before playing video games. It's not necessary, but it's a safe procaution. =D
9MAGGOT4LIFE 6 months ago
@bbbeenn32
if u r playing games most of the time at night (when its dark in the room) u should def by plasma. If thats not the case- then go with the lcd.
skijeti 6 months ago
if you have a 120hz on a 30fps game, and a 60hz on a 60fps game, which is faster? how does that work? do you add up the tv fps and game fps? :s
keveydaking 7 months ago
@keveydaking No, 30FPS On a game with a 120Hz monitor/ TV = 30FPS, not 150FPS. 60FPS on a 60Hz monitor/ TV = 60FPS. You can only see the output of the game's FPS, as it is limited to the refresh rate of the TV/ monitor (Example a 24Hz TV with a game running @ 60FPS means you only see 24FPS, a 60Hz TV with a game running @ 30FPS means you only see 30FPS). So 60FPS with a 60Hz monitor/ TV is better. I hope this helped.

@lXlNismo11lXl so it doesnt matter if i got a 345735903485735097383907930897hz tv, it wouldnt be any different from a 60hz tv?? (gaming related)
keveydaking 7 months ago
@keveydaking 120Hz might be smother than 60Hz, but you will not see more than 60FPS from the games on consoles. (Unless you disable vertical synchronization in say COD4 through modding, but it's still limited to 90FPS because of the game's frame rate limit.) On PC however, a game can run at the refresh rate of the moniter (Say 120Hz). So, for consoles not really, for PC yes.
lXlNismo11lXl 7 months ago
@lXlNismo11lXl yeeah i need a good hz TV, the blur on games is ridiculous
keveydaking 7 months ago
@keveydaking try a plasma, it runs at 600hz's. It's VERY smooth
9MAGGOT4LIFE 6 months ago
@keveydaking okay for LCD's alot of them have a higher refresh rate 120hz,240hz(60hz is standard). So basically 120hz will double whatever framerate the program you're running, the thing is it's interpolating more frames and the motion is suppose to be more fluid. Honestly though i don't like that feature in the tv. Alot of Plasma's have that 600hz but it's the refresh rate per pixel but the frame rate will still be 60. I prefer plasmas to LCD's though for a faster repsonse time.
FatalShot808 7 months ago
@FatalShot808 Hmmm that's very interesting! Yeah so the 600hz on plasma is an actual "sub field drive" that runs 60 frames per second, 10 times, making it 600 frames per pixel - making the pixels respond extremely fast and running liquid smooth? Correct me if I'm correct or reading you wrong.
I also saw an LG 42" LCD 60hz on sale at Best Buy that suppose to have a 4 millisecond response time. Isn't that very fast for a 60hz LCD bigger than 32 inches?

oscarxps 7 months ago
@oscarxps
LCD.
gasperstifter 6 months ago
If plasma screens would be covered with anti reflective film as LCD screens do choice would be much easier - most of us would buy plasma, beacuse it provides similar image quality for a lower price.

@leszken Yeah that glare is absolute no-no for me due to the fact that I live in a high-rise building with a natural bright lit apartment. to all of you: human eye vs refresh rate: did you know that the human eye can only register the image with 60 hz refresh rate? 600hz- pure marketing!
also, mobile phones with 16 million colors screens are the same to the human eye as those with 262.144 (18-bit) colors simply couse human eye cant see the diference!!! contrast, on the other hand, is totally diferent ball game...
skijeti 10 months ago
@skijeti Not true, pilots have detected and identified the type of enemy plane in 1 and 200 frames per second. Furthermore, we can detect up to around 500 frames per second, although everyone is different. The reason 24fps looks smooth, is because it is blurry.
8Libertine8 10 months ago
@skijeti
totally wrong, especially if your talking about refresh rate more than frame rate.
Gilbertnba1 10 months ago
@Gilbertnba1

But my Samsung is hook up to KEF 9000 so the speakers on the Samsung don't bother me that

kazukikatsuhito 1 year ago
Standard movies are on 24p. These systems only add additional frames between 24p's frames, that are generated by the system (thanks to the motion analysis). Go to the cinema - big screen and 24p. Do you perceive the movements as blurry or not fluent? So, what's up?
Plasmas are better because the control of the colour gradation is almost unlimited, especially in comparison to the LCD. LCD with LED backlight are much better, but still plasma offers really black 'black' with accuracy to ONE pixel.

240hz?
sawink 1 year ago
@sawink its 200hz in europe. we use a 60hz signal in north america so when they multiply that signal by 4 it becomes 240hz. the signal out of a power socket in europe is 50hz, the tv multiplies that number by 4 and they get a 200hz signal.
adoodas 1 year ago
@adoodas Ahh You would think HZ which is ...Hertz is uniform? Frame rate (standard) in Euope is slower than at 50HZ compared to NA 60Hz? And if you quadrupled the 60 its 40Hz more from rate than Quadrupaling 50 Hz will 3 extra interpolated video frames? I give up on this conversion crap, if Europe's 50Hz equals a NA 60Hz? A Hz is a Hz? DAMN IT!!!!!!!

LCD with 120 hz is slightly better than a plasma with 600hz subfield drive...even though the plasma is operating at 60hz...it doesnt lag like liquid crystals do.
iamnvedbyu 1 year ago
each one has its pros and cons.....plasmas have the best color while LCD's have better clarity....Plasmas have glass screens opposed to LCD's plastic screen...so if you are in a bright room you probably are better off with the LCD and vice versa...as far as reliablity, plasmas have increased their lifespan which is now the same as LCD's which is 60,000hrs of play, or 12-55yrs
iamnvedbyu 1 year ago
Lets clear this all up for you who dont know. 600hz subfield is a marketing technique created to compete with LCD when they introduced the 120hz LCD. Plasma tv's have 10 subfields that operate at 60hz each...The reason 60hz looks slow on a LCD is because it takes a while for the electric current to charge the LCD. Plasmas on the other hand works from lights charged with xenon and neon gas...Because it's a gas, electricity activates it quicker than it would activate liquid crystals.
iamnvedbyu 1 year ago 28
for those who cant add....60hz x 10 sub-fields= 600hz subfield drive

@iamnvedbyu People watching this video are not taking into consideration 2 things. 1. Shutter rates on a camera. You can't tape two different hz TVs with 1 camera on 1 shutter speed and not change them to compensate for the rates. It's an inaccurate test. 2. Google compresses it's video with their own player, so you don't get true HD to see quality here. The people who like to bash 600 hz TVs are those that do not have one. I have LCD & Plasma, I watch Football on my Plasma for obvious reasons.
texformer 1 year ago
You can't see the difference on video, because:
1:The camcorder only can record 24 - 30 frames per second. (Not at 600 fps).
2. You must have a 600 Hz lcd monitor if the video could be at 600 Frames per second. (Not with a 60hz monitor)!
jaspnaruto 1 year ago
anyone here who keeps saying that you can see that "flicker" because of the tv reaching the cameras refresh rate on the left, this may be true in a crt... but these aren't. I shoot game reviews by just aiming the camera at my HD and its only 60hz and I get no flicker at all... secondly... this video is useless, because you can't tell a thing technically since you're just viewing it through the quality of an uploaded video.

@flogman62 not to mention people computers at home usually put out 60hz so how can they even compare
2826041 11 months ago
think the plasma being used is using a 600Hz "Sub pixel drive" method. u will be fooled if you directly compare that to 200Hz "refresh rate".
