I hate spoilers for TV shows if it hasn't aired. However in my opinion, if you know an episode has aired, even if it isn't in your area, then it's your responsibility to avoid those spoilers, not the people talking about them.
I see your point about the whole Flesh!Amy thing but at the same time this Ganger was being used for nefarious purposes to spy on the Doctor so that they could get Amy's baby, anyone would be extremely angry about someone doing that to their friend and I feel that he cut off the signal because he was angry and because he didn't need them knowing what he was doing during the month between episodes
AND ANOTHER THING...(After this I'm done. Promise.) When was the Flesh Amy created? The implication is it was b4 her & the guys got 2 the factory, by virtue of The Doctor saying orig. Amy hadn't been there 4 a "long, long time". Hope a future ep. says when. And when did the 2 Docs switch shoes? They were never out of sight of at least one person except 4 when they were both crouched behind the contol panel. Was it then? Ro; feedback appreciated. R my comments good or bad? Am I wasting my time?
Another thing...is Rory still a Nestene? He was still one after the Pandorica opened. If at some point he magically became human again, when did it happen? I missed it. And if he is still a Nestene, were he & Amy even compatible 4 Amy's impregnation? And is River/Melody 1/2 human, 1/2 Nestene? HEY-alt. universe scenario-Nestene Rory & the Flesh Amy procreate, & the Flesh Amy has-gasp!-a...a...CANDLE! HA! All 4 Rosianna being a Doctor's companion, vote AYE!
A golden opp. was missed with that scene. There could have been a lot more tension between Rory and Doc, perhaps even a physical altercation, B4 Doc was able to explain what was going on. And the show makers could have had at the very least one or two eps. w/the 2 men searching 4 Amy & the baby B4 it jumped straight into THEY FOUND THEM n/beg. of AGMGTW. They could've even devoted the rest of series 6 to searching 4 them, ending 6 w/the revelation of River's true ident. No space 4 more...
THANK YOU! My biggest gripe w/the eps. were how could the The Doctor kill the Flesh Amy so coldly(especially when she was in labor)when the biggest theme of both eps. were of the sacredness of life and the Flesh's right to live. And Rory spends 2,000 yrs. guarding the woman he loves when she's sealed up in a box, but he won't defend her more aggresively against The Doctor esp. when she is in the process of giving birth to their child? COME ON! Crap...never enough space to finish...back soon...
I really don't mind being spoiled, but I also think you absoutely have a right to be angry about it. Whether you're someone who wants to know everything there is to know or whether you're someone who would rather wait and find out, it should be YOUR choice. People who post spoilers without proper warning take away that choice for others. Also, it's just generally annoying when anyone assumes that their whole community feels a certain way (about anything, really) just because they do.
I think you're right to be annoyed, I hate spoilers and am avoiding this one with a ten foot pole since I haven't had a chance to watch the episode yet. although some people go way overboard. For example, Someone sent me a nasty message the other day because, I accidently spoiled a part of deathly hallows for them. I think after a book has been out for 4 years, it's a little silly to be angry.
I liked that one specific thing being spoiled for me, because now I can spend months and months being excited about it. I think that spoilers are fine as long as they are marked as such and you are given fair warning.
I agree with you when you say that life of the aliens and humans has been dealt with carelessly this season. I don't like how they brush it off. And also in the second part of the opening two parter Day of the Moon it was, the Doctor being okay with violence and guns. It just seems there have been alot of contradictions with the Doctor. With 11 compared to last season. Maybe thats supposed to be because he's growing and changing but I do like the sensitive treasuring life type of Doctor.
i didn't get why when the Doctor said that the flesh were all now human and wouldn't break down after riding in the tardis but then Amy was still flesh after being in the tardis tons of times. it kinda through me off.
What the tread in Your Pants does is you can talk all you want about episodes already aired and previews and clips. Any rumours are to be regarded as rumours only and anything that may be a big spoiler you must highlight to see, thereby making it a choice. It works pretty well.
I hate spoilers! I love to be surprised by the next episode and don't appreciate when somebody's ruining my anticipation, cause you can't get that feeling of OMG-WTF? back, the surprise is ruined even if you try to pretend it's not.
Deathly Hallows was spoiled for me cause some bastard told me Tonx and Remus die and I sooo didn't wanna know before reading! I was furious so I get why Moffat got pissed
hate spoilers! kinda ruined the last episode for me a bit. iwasn't as suprised cos i was trying to fish through the spoilers to find the link on tumblr to watch the last episode.
I think that killing ganger Amy will help them finder her quicker and I'm pretty sure the Doctor's ganger might come back and maybe tie into episode one...?
When Amy became flesh I was like WOAAHH!!! I thought the eye patch lady was a labor coach...
But didn't Amy tell the Doctor that she'd seen him die? Cuz she thought she was telling his ganger BUT THEY SWITCHED SHOES!!!
I think the difference between the gangers in the episode and the amy ganger is the fact that the amy ganger means that we're also missing an amy. every human and ganger were all accounted for (well besides jen.. but you get what i'm saying) in the episode. Amy is off lost somewhere and should be found asap. destroying her ganger probably would get them to her faster, considering she's concious now and ganger amy would have freaked out after realizing everything.
I get really annoyed by spoilers as well. I don't like to read any of them (for any show/movie/etc.), but it's hard to stay away from them on tumblr.
I didn't like the part where the Doctor just killed flesh!Amy either, but one of the top comments made me understand it a bit better... but, still. I can understand why he had to do it obviously, but it didn't sit well with me.
The spoiler about ep 13 is gone from imdb now, I believe. So I don't know what to think about it. Maybe it was fake? Presuming that was the one you were talking about.
I hate spoliers i never want to find out anything stuff, i just LOVE LOVE LOVE surprise!, completely agree with you. Although i have only ever given away one spoiler when i told me brother that harry beats voldemort, thats all i told him, not how or why, just that he does. As he doesnt read the books and just watches the films i couldnt understand how he didnt know though!, ARGH well :D
Can someone please tell me where to find the spoilers? I really like them because then I can back track and better highlight the little details and things that foreshadow the spoiler.
"The Harry Potter Era of spoiling" That is such a good way to describe it, I've managed to avoid spoilers for Doctor Who this series but there have been other television shows that I watch that have been spoiled for me and it just kind of takes something away from it once you know. Going into an episode knowing some of the big shocks kind of lessens it for me a little bit.
I think I know which spoiler you mean, and for me at least, I just got confused. I'm looking forward to how they gonna do this, because I have no idea. But then again, it would be fun if I didn't know this, but hopefully I will forget about it until episode 13 (at least I can wish).
I love that you described your opinion on spoilers as coming from the Harry Potter Era of Spoiling because that's exactly how I think about it. I think people coming from that era are much more considerate about spoiling things for people.
agreed when i reviewed the Rebel Flesh i really did not like it but in the second part it was amazing! A viewer of mine told me that the writer of this episode is known for doing things like this.
I loved the duo Doctor action. Matt Smith did the job superbly. The previous Doctor voice clips from 4 and also 10 if you noticed, were great; I was in stitches after reverse the jelly baby of the neutron flow! And also, we have not only a bombshell dropped on the audience, but the Doctor too. Amy told him that she saw him die. How this will change things? I guess we'll find out.
I thought the whole point was that the Flesh were sentient only once they'd been separated from their hosts, who were 'plumbed in' elsewhere? Therefore snapping the link between Ganger Amy and 'Real' Amy wasn't actually killing her own sentient Ganger but just breaking the connection between the two. I dunno. But Amy's been flesh since at least Ep 2 (Day of the Moon) because Madame Kavarian appeared in the hatch in the door of the creepy children's home. Yikes.
Ok. I originally thought that the whole Amy is controlling the double thing was an excuse for the doctor killing the ganger but now that I think back to the first episode wasn't there points made indicating the flesh even when its being controlled has some degree of sentience?
I totally agree with you, I don't understand why he was so cold and just zapped flesh-Amy away... it just contradicts the big deal that he made about the flesh having human feeling and a human heart.
@allison2811 Flesh Amy wasn't a separate being though. She was more like an Avatar. So, he didn't actually kill a separate Amy. When he got rid of the flesh version, Amy, woke up in the hospital.
I think the Gangers are basically just an extension of you when you're in a harness controlling them. It's when the two get seperated that the Gangers become people and it would be wrong to kill them.
So Ganger!Amy was just the mind of Amy in a flesh body, and the Doctor felt it was important that she returned to her real body. Less like killing a person, more like waking them up from a dream.
I always try and keep clear of spoilers but it can be really hard. I don't really understand the interest in know what is going to happen before you see the show, I thought that was part of the enjoyment of a story.
I know TWO spoilers :D The thing is, I love spoilers and I love finding stuff out before everyone else does. I don't tell people in case it might ruin it for them unless they ask me to tell them so I won't say them unless someone asks me to :)
I can understand why Steven Moffat is angry. If you work really hard on writing amazing plots, and keeping secrets from your audience, then you're going to be pretty peed off if it all gets ruined. He was probably aiming for a big build up and reveal which would make the finale a big event.
I don't have anything against people who do spread stuff around - I mean, when you find something big out you want to tell someone, right? But I do think they should be more respectful sometimes.
I'm really glad you questioned the whole destroying flesh Amy thing. Literally 5 minutes before the doctor was talking about how flesh are basically real people, then he destroys her. Why? Just for dramatic effect and shock?
This is something which I'm sure has to be explained, it's too contradictory.
I have no idea what his big spoiler is (huzzah!); I generally only venture where I know the community well enough to know they're anti-spoiler. Now just have to avoid it for the next... three days? I can kind of see where Moffat's coming from, too - it's annoying enough when you as a viewer/reader/whatever get spoiled, but to have someone take and throw around the bare bones of a story you've worked so hard to create and embellish must be very frustrating.
The thing I don't like about spoilers is when you don't get a choice. When people post them on facebook and twitter and tumblr you don't get a choice about whether you read it or not. You just read it and then it's too late. I don't mind spoilers being put in other places in the internet where you are warned that there are spoilers and you can actively chose whether to read them or not.
I completely agree with you - when I watched 'The Rebel Flesh', I found it really hard to be interested in anything (except for Rory of course <33333), but after watching 'The Almost People', I went back and watched it again and thought it was a lot more interesting. AND THE ENDING: AFLSAHFLSJGFSJHL.
Oh - and thanks for warning me about that spoiler! I'd be just as angry as you if I'd been spoiled.
I completely agree that you should be angry about spoiling! I stopped using my main tumblr due to spoilers, I used to see so many spoilers about things like Glee and Vampire Diaries which air first in America so you must get the same about Doctor Who which usually airs first here in the UK so I definitely get your anger and feel the same. I'm thankful that I don't know the spoiler you mentioned or if I do, I don't know it as a spoiler which feels better!
I have no idea what that spoiler you mentioned is and I'm so happy that I don't, and that you didn't mention it. I think you're totally right to be angry, the ending to either The Rebel Flesh or The Almost People woulda sucked if anybody had told me in advance what was gonna happen. Not a fan of spoilers =/.
Does anyone else feel really let down that Rory hasn't 'died' in 2 episodes now? They'd better kill him off in 'A good man goes to war'or it'll have only been 3 times in this half-series!
My major dislike across the second of the 2 episodes was the inconsistencies over the Sonic Screwdriver - one Doctor would give it to another, but then be using it at a point, then have it given back to them. They hoped that we would be lost in the confusion over the 2 Doctors, but it was something that glared out as a really annoying thing for me!
Maybe the eleventh doctor is about to regenerate, think about it, when tenvknew he was going to die he lost most of his morals (not caring about changing time) and efftectively lost himself. Now the eleventh lost his morals about genocide so could this be foreshadowing that something bad is going to happen to him, other than possibly properly dieing
I definitely understand where Moffat's coming from, this is HIS brainchild. He's planned this amazing storyline for, I don't know, 3 years? Probably longer. I can't for the life of me understand people who read spoilers. Anyways, I quite enjoyed the two-parter! I like it when AND OMG THAT ENDING. (Really looking foward to the new Chameleon Circuit album as well! Been listening to the page Michael set for days now.)
Did no one else notice how Amy told the Doctor that she has seen him die? (Remember that the Doctor and Flesh Doctor switched shoes from the beginning.)
Maybe he didn't believe her, but she still told him.
@daniellesmithis Yes, but he mentions it too towards the end. He says it quietly and the others don't quite hear him - I only picked it up by rewatching on iPlayer with subtitles. I'm guessing that'll be the big focus of the next half of the series in Autumn
Totally agree re. spoilers. I enjoy the thrill of watching (or reading) a story for the very first time, not knowing how it's going to end; being completely blown away by surprises; and then going back and experiencing the story again, THIS time picking up on all the little foreshadowing clues. I hate when someone unthinkingly robs me of all that.
I think you should be angry if you didn't want to be spoiled. Cause that sucks. I've spoiled myself a few times purposefully and really regretted it when I finally got to the episode I spoiled, but other times it's just doubled my excitement in a weird way cause I really wanted to see what the actor/directors/writers would make of the entire episode.
But yeah, this time it's obvious you didn't want said spoiler, so by all rights you should be angry. Cause this one's a mind-blowing spoiler.
I tend to look for spoilers for episodes airing next week, but not end of series spoilers I like the surprise personally I dont know how I missed the spoilers because im always on twitter, im just glad I did!
I think Rory keeps dying because he was supposed to be dead and then the Nestene consciousness dragged him back but now the universe is trying to right that wrong by him almost dying every week
the thing that KILLED me in this episode was the kid, the little kid, he was horrible, so fake...the stuff he was seeing felt too childish and cliche'...really took me out of the experience. Other than that good pair of eps.
In regards to the Doctor "killing" flesh!Amy even after emphasizing throughout that the gangers were human, in actuality flesh!Amy was NOT at all like the gangers in the episode. The gangers in the episode were animated by the solar storm and thus had their own bodies and "sacred lives" whereas the flesh!Amy was still connected to the real amy (much like the others were in the beginning of rebel flesh). The doctor BROKE THE CONNECTION, which turned amy back into pure flesh.Fake Amy was not alive
@shiningstar08 My problem is in the episode "Rebel Flesh" The Doctor is going on about how even in its inert state the Flesh is alive. He even does his mind meld thing with it. I never interpreted the solar storm as animating the gangers so much as severing the human ganger link while at the same time allowing the gangers to maintain stability despite the trauma of link breakage. However if this is the case when the doctor blocked the connection ganger Amy should have gone rouge, not dissolve.
People on Tumblr are terrible about spoilers. Here's the problem. We're all on different time-zones and with different situations. So, I try to get people to put it in a private section or at least say spoilers. It's obnoxious.
If the Spoiler you're talking about, the one with the screen cap of IMDB with David Tennant as a cast member. Remember that IMDB is like Wikipedia, in the sense that its information for these types of things ( un-released episodes) is a very hit and miss, and take it with a lump of salt :]
I agree with you totally on the spoiler thing. Keeping spoilers out is a courtesy that should be extended to everyone. We as culture, and an internet culture need to understand that spoiling a series without warning is one of the most rude thing you could say to a person; you might as well be cursing at them...
I really hate spoilers. Yeah, it's fun to guess what could be the ending or the solution, but I never want to know for sure until the episode or book or movie comes out.
Thanks for not spoiling us; I would definitely find it horribly irritating to be spoiled. I'm sorry. :(
I am also hoping that the lack of consideration for loss of life, lack of "second chances," etc. is purposeful—I've been feeling like things have been a bit off since the end of The Impossible Astronaut (partially because the cliffhanger was never resolved), but off enough that I would hope it's purposeful; Amy's ganger-ness is one example, but I'm wagering there are more unresolved mysteries.
If I'm thinking of the same spoiler as you, then yes, you are right to be this annoyed! I mean, can you imagine how it would've felt to be watching the finale and it to be a total surprise? I'm kind of sad that the episode won't have the element of surprise for me now. Sorry, kind of hard to explain without mentioning the actual spoiler. Though when I first saw it on tumblr I didn't actually think it was definitely official? I'm not sure what to believe now.
Him getting rid of fleshAmy wasn't that big of a deal because actual Amy was still connected to her ganger. She wasn't like the flesh in the episodes where it was like the flesh had become people, fleshAmy and actual Amy were 2 bodies but there was only one mind, fleshAmy wasn't independant, she was an early version of the flesh...with the gangers in the episodes, it was 2 bodies and 2 minds because the stuff that happened during the solar storm changed them. (Killing the Silence was odd though)
I was hoping one of you would touch on the part where Amy tells The Doctor that it was him who sent those invitations and they were to his own death. Any thoughts on what repercussions that will have?
by the way, ah, Moffat did say the Doctor would be completely off-kilter this season as opposed to all other seasons because there are no boundaries. It may be OOC but maybe there is a reason? He makes it so evident.
I think the reason the Doctor had to get rid of flesh Amy was because there was no possibility that they would have believed him if he all of a sudden said "amy's flesh!" and it probably wouldn't fit with the dynamic of the next episode, looking for amy with another amy still around and it makes everything wibbly wobbly.
@bffzjhcaFOSHO I think they would've believed him, they trust the Doctor. But real Amy was the one controlling flesh-Amy (it was 2 bodies, but only 1 mind, she was an early version of the flesh -- in the episode, when the storm happened, it changed the flesh so that they became independant and instead of being 2 bodies but one mind, they became 2 bodies with 2 seperate minds). He had to cut actual Amy off from her ganger so that her mind would go back to her real body, because she was in labour.
gaahh i didn't even mean to look for anything future-y.... i was just looking something up i was confused on and it was just like BAM. and i was like. oh. and then i was like wha?! no!! and then i was like... oh i guess.... and yeah. spoiled. bleh.
Me and my brother were actually talking about the genocide idea a couple of weeks ago when Eleven effectively eradicated the Silence, and how that is such a change from when Ten sent his clone away for killing all of those Daleks. It's weird.
I know the spoiler you're referring to and I was really frustrated, too. SUPER HAPPY about what it is but at the same time I would have been a ZILLION times happier had I found out from just watching the episode. I probably would have shouted at the screen but now I'll be expecting it :/ Thanks to Alex Carpenter for spoiling it for me on Twitter XD
I thought Rebel Flesh was ok and I liked Almost People bc the question of what makes a person is fascinating to explore. But overall, I didn't see how it would tie into the rest of the season until the very last scene. Immediately after I went back and watched the first episode of the season to see when the Real-Amy/Ganger-Amy switch happened. How long has the doctor known? At least for the whole of the past 2 episodes (presumably he brought them to the island bc he knew Amy was flesh).
I see the Doctor's reluctance to kill as an inherent part of his personality, not something that changes as he regenerates. I love Matt Smith but there's no good excuse on the writers' part for failing to treat death/genocide/murder as a very difficult and tragic decision to the Doctor. DW is, after all, still a "family show," for one thing, and also the show's long-running blatant opposition to mindless/remorseless violence is one of its best aspects, in my opinion.
Well about the whole death thing, I totally agree in that with RTD, the Doctor was ALWAYS about giving someone a second chance, and now we're kind of having a "Doctoral revolution" in the sense that his morals seem to becoming more flexible. I understand that there is always character development, particularly after the whole Moffat/RTD change, but I do miss the old traits from Eccleston and Tennant. I love Smith, but I fell like he's a little too different, regeneration aside.
I think it's possible the Doctor got rid of ganger Amy because he was certain that her consciousness would immediately be transferred into her pregnant body. That's why he told her that they were going to find her, and why when it showed pregnant Amy, she seemed completely disoriented, like she'd just woken up there and had no idea how she'd gotten there.
I completely agree with you. I'm really upset that they got rid of the whole "give them a choice" thing. That's something I've always loved about the Doctor. I was really upset about how quickly he got rid of ganger Amy. I know it was meant to be this huge reveal but it was pretty shitty.
Also sorry if I spoiled you. I don't usually reblog that stuff but it was EVERYWHERE and I thought it was something that would inevitably be announced at some point before airing. It wasn't being hidden well.
@aSammyGee Ganger-Amy couldn't have been given a choice though, because she was an earlier version of the flesh...the other gangers changed when the storm happened and became their own people. The ganger of Amy was being controlled by actual Amy (that's why it was saying she was pregnant/not pregnant, had labour pains & why she saw eyepatch woman) - ganger Amy without the connection to real Amy would've just been a body but no mind and real Amy was in labour & needed to go back to her body.
i think we have read the same spoiler, is it about the cast list? i ofcourse wont mention it, but yeahh your totally right, i got so annoyed when i read that, because i have always stayed spoiler free, it makes the show more enjoyable, and when i found that out i was gutted... welll i was excited... but gutted because i wont be as surprised :/
As for the spoiler - if it's the one that I think it is - it originated when someone edited false info into IMDB, and idiots, not knowing anyone could edit IMDB, spread it like wildfire. It's not true.
I think the Doctor is at peace with the idea of killing now. The Ninth and Tenth Doctor's brew-ha-ha over it was always in my eyes transference from his own crimes and was fallout from the Time War. Since the End of Time, the Doctor's gotten over himself a little. He's seen his actions justified, and whilst he isn't the 'Timelord Victorious' figure we saw in Waters of Mars, there's an essence of that that shines through, because that's always been a part of his character.
With regards to the River thing my friend recently pointed out that she first appeared in the two parters "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead". We've now seen the Silence so maybe the Forest bit has a reference to the "Only water in the forest is river"
@LloydARoberts199218 i recently rewatched that... and I don't think they have anything to do with each other. Silence in the Library was referring to the fact that there was no one there, not the silence...
Also, the River storyline has not been very true to Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead... Except the "it might just kill me" part...
I completely agree with you about spoilers. There's this post going around on tumblr that's got a few thousand notes now, and it tells everybody to tag their spoilers with a certain tag, so that people can avoid them.
what you said about the flesh amy was wrong amy was still in control of the flesh like the characters were in control in their own flesh until it came alive on its own. so it wasnt really like killing the flesh amy.
I'm lucky enough (although it's the first time I've considered it lucky) to only have one friend who watches doctor who, so I haven't been spoiled. But facebook spoiled me about the season finale of Bones that aired last week, which i was even angrier than you (or at least the anger you showed in this video) about, so I see where you're coming from.
I agree with you on spoilers. When something is spoiled I lose that "oh-my-god-I-can't-wait-to-get-to-the-end" feeling that I love so much. I luckily don't have many friends that are Doctor Who-ies and so I don't know what you are refering to but do we know if the spoiler is confirmed or is it just a rumour.
The first half was pretty mediocre, but the ending BLEW MY MIND!!! It was insane. I feel like I should have seen this coming! I cannot wait for next week. Its a shame the season has to finish in the fall, I really want it to keep going. I can't wait to learn who River really is!!! :)
Haha the doctor would be proud of all the running :P I knew she was her mid wifey person! I liked that it wasn't sort of all about Amy. That it was Amy that seemed to be a bit jealous. That Rory had the more upper hand in the relationship? His character has developed so well. Secretly, it was the silence that turned the lights down, wasn't it? :P I hope next episode isn't anti climatic.
Oh god, can I not go on Tumblr now? O.O How will I procrastinate?!Yeah I agree with you. Spoilers are a no go
didn't like the rebel flesh at all. I was really disappointed. Almost didn't watch the second part just because the first episode got me so frustrated. The first part did make me realize how much I love Rory. I may actually love him more than the doctor at this point... I just cant' seem to get over the tenth doctor :D
part two was so much better! I agree, it would have been better to see the two together. works better.
When the first episode ended, I was like... oh um okay it's a two parter, which usually indicates importance and I was wondering how gangers were going to fit into the picture.................... AND THEN THE ENDING THAT HAPPENED HAPPENED and I died.
I hate spoilers for TV shows if it hasn't aired. However in my opinion, if you know an episode has aired, even if it isn't in your area, then it's your responsibility to avoid those spoilers, not the people talking about them.

I liked that one specific thing being spoiled for me, because now I can spend months and months being excited about it. I think that spoilers are fine as long as they are marked as such and you are given fair warning.
Candypirate11 8 months ago
I agree with you when you say that life of the aliens and humans has been dealt with carelessly this season. I don't like how they brush it off. And also in the second part of the opening two parter Day of the Moon it was, the Doctor being okay with violence and guns. It just seems there have been alot of contradictions with the Doctor. With 11 compared to last season. Maybe thats supposed to be because he's growing and changing but I do like the sensitive treasuring life type of Doctor.

"The Harry Potter Era of spoiling" That is such a good way to describe it, I've managed to avoid spoilers for Doctor Who this series but there have been other television shows that I watch that have been spoiled for me and it just kind of takes something away from it once you know. Going into an episode knowing some of the big shocks kind of lessens it for me a little bit.
bananiepie 9 months ago
I think I know which spoiler you mean, and for me at least, I just got confused. I'm looking forward to how they gonna do this, because I have no idea. But then again, it would be fun if I didn't know this, but hopefully I will forget about it until episode 13 (at least I can wish).

JessyIsTheBestis 9 months ago
I loved the duo Doctor action. Matt Smith did the job superbly. The previous Doctor voice clips from 4 and also 10 if you noticed, were great; I was in stitches after reverse the jelly baby of the neutron flow! And also, we have not only a bombshell dropped on the audience, but the Doctor too. Amy told him that she saw him die. How this will change things? I guess we'll find out.

Re: Doc zapping Ganger Amy
I thought the whole point was that the Flesh were sentient only once they'd been separated from their hosts, who were 'plumbed in' elsewhere? Therefore snapping the link between Ganger Amy and 'Real' Amy wasn't actually killing her own sentient Ganger but just breaking the connection between the two. I dunno. But Amy's been flesh since at least Ep 2 (Day of the Moon) because Madame Kavarian appeared in the hatch in the door of the creepy children's home. Yikes.
hollium 9 months ago 2
@hollium Yeah, so it wasn't like the Doctor was killing anyone, he was just disconnecting Amy from her flesh body double.

shortymir 9 months ago
@allison2811 Flesh Amy wasn't a separate being though. She was more like an Avatar. So, he didn't actually kill a separate Amy. When he got rid of the flesh version, Amy, woke up in the hospital.
phillymagic 9 months ago
I think the Gangers are basically just an extension of you when you're in a harness controlling them. It's when the two get seperated that the Gangers become people and it would be wrong to kill them.
So Ganger!Amy was just the mind of Amy in a flesh body, and the Doctor felt it was important that she returned to her real body. Less like killing a person, more like waking them up from a dream.
reilly500 9 months ago
I always try and keep clear of spoilers but it can be really hard. I don't really understand the interest in know what is going to happen before you see the show, I thought that was part of the enjoyment of a story.
Ironballs69 9 months ago
I know TWO spoilers :D The thing is, I love spoilers and I love finding stuff out before everyone else does. I don't tell people in case it might ruin it for them unless they ask me to tell them so I won't say them unless someone asks me to :)
thekilljoypotato 9 months ago
I can understand why Steven Moffat is angry. If you work really hard on writing amazing plots, and keeping secrets from your audience, then you're going to be pretty peed off if it all gets ruined. He was probably aiming for a big build up and reveal which would make the finale a big event.
I don't have anything against people who do spread stuff around - I mean, when you find something big out you want to tell someone, right? But I do think they should be more respectful sometimes.
katmanbegins 9 months ago
I'm really glad you questioned the whole destroying flesh Amy thing. Literally 5 minutes before the doctor was talking about how flesh are basically real people, then he destroys her. Why? Just for dramatic effect and shock?
This is something which I'm sure has to be explained, it's too contradictory.

I have no idea what his big spoiler is (huzzah!); I generally only venture where I know the community well enough to know they're anti-spoiler. Now just have to avoid it for the next... three days? I can kind of see where Moffat's coming from, too - it's annoying enough when you as a viewer/reader/whatever get spoiled, but to have someone take and throw around the bare bones of a story you've worked so hard to create and embellish must be very frustrating.
marillbuddy 9 months ago
The thing I don't like about spoilers is when you don't get a choice. When people post them on facebook and twitter and tumblr you don't get a choice about whether you read it or not. You just read it and then it's too late. I don't mind spoilers being put in other places in the internet where you are warned that there are spoilers and you can actively chose whether to read them or not.
themightywilliphant 9 months ago
I completely agree with you - when I watched 'The Rebel Flesh', I found it really hard to be interested in anything (except for Rory of course <33333), but after watching 'The Almost People', I went back and watched it again and thought it was a lot more interesting. AND THE ENDING: AFLSAHFLSJGFSJHL.
Oh - and thanks for warning me about that spoiler! I'd be just as angry as you if I'd been spoiled.
TheDoctorIsMyHomeboy 9 months ago
I completely agree that you should be angry about spoiling! I stopped using my main tumblr due to spoilers, I used to see so many spoilers about things like Glee and Vampire Diaries which air first in America so you must get the same about Doctor Who which usually airs first here in the UK so I definitely get your anger and feel the same. I'm thankful that I don't know the spoiler you mentioned or if I do, I don't know it as a spoiler which feels better!
megachiropteran 9 months ago
I have no idea what that spoiler you mentioned is and I'm so happy that I don't, and that you didn't mention it. jondevlog 9 months ago
My major dislike across the second of the 2 episodes was the inconsistencies over the Sonic Screwdriver - one Doctor would give it to another, but then be using it at a point, then have it given back to them. They hoped that we would be lost in the confusion over the 2 Doctors, but it was something that glared out as a really annoying thing for me!
jondevlog 9 months ago
Maybe the eleventh doctor is about to regenerate, think about it, when tenvknew he was going to die he lost most of his morals (not caring about changing time) and efftectively lost himself. Now the eleventh lost his morals about genocide so could this be foreshadowing that something bad is going to happen to him, other than possibly properly dieing
Superultimateay 9 months ago
I definitely understand where Moffat's coming from, this is HIS brainchild. He's planned this amazing storyline for, I don't know, 3 years? Probably longer. I can't for the life of me understand people who read spoilers. Anyways, I quite enjoyed the two-parter! I like it when AND OMG THAT ENDING. (Really looking foward to the new Chameleon Circuit album as well! Been listening to the page Michael set for days now.)

@daniellesmithis Yes, but he mentions it too towards the end. He says it quietly and the others don't quite hear him - I only picked it up by rewatching on iPlayer with subtitles. I'm guessing that'll be the big focus of the next half of the series in Autumn

CassiaAleriPrice 9 months ago

Cause this one's a mind-blowing spoiler.

the thing that KILLED me in this episode was the kid, the little kid, he was horrible, so fake...the stuff he was seeing felt too childish and cliche'...really took me out of the experience. Other than that good pair of eps.
Timeforthaunted 9 months ago
In regards to the Doctor "killing" flesh!Amy even after emphasizing throughout that the gangers were human, in actuality flesh!Amy was NOT at all like the gangers in the episode. The gangers in the episode were animated by the solar storm and thus had their own bodies and "sacred lives" whereas the flesh!Amy was still connected to the real amy (much like the others were in the beginning of rebel flesh). The doctor BROKE THE CONNECTION, which turned amy back into pure flesh.Fake Amy was not alive
shiningstar08 9 months ago 78
@shiningstar08 My problem is in the episode "Rebel Flesh" The Doctor is going on about how even in its inert state the Flesh is alive. He even does his mind meld thing with it. I never interpreted the solar storm as animating the gangers so much as severing the human ganger link while at the same time allowing the gangers to maintain stability despite the trauma of link breakage. However if this is the case when the doctor blocked the connection ganger Amy should have gone rouge, not dissolve.

If the Spoiler you're talking about, the one with the screen cap of IMDB with David Tennant as a cast member. Remember that IMDB is like Wikipedia, in the sense that its information for these types of things ( un-released episodes) is a very hit and miss, and take it with a lump of salt :]

(Killing the Silence was odd though)

by the way, ah, Moffat did say the Doctor would be completely off-kilter this season as opposed to all other seasons because there are no boundaries. It may be OOC but maybe there is a reason? He makes it so evident.
bffzjhcaFOSHO 9 months ago
I think the reason the Doctor had to get rid of flesh Amy was because there was no possibility that they would have believed him if he all of a sudden said "amy's flesh!" and it probably wouldn't fit with the dynamic of the next episode, looking for amy with another amy still around and it makes everything wibbly wobbly.
bffzjhcaFOSHO 9 months ago
@bffzjhcaFOSHO I think they would've believed him, they trust the Doctor. But real Amy was the one controlling flesh-Amy (it was 2 bodies, but only 1 mind, she was an early version of the flesh -- in the episode, when the storm happened, it changed the flesh so that they became independant and instead of being 2 bodies but one mind, they became 2 bodies with 2 seperate minds). He had to cut actual Amy off from her ganger so that her mind would go back to her real body, because she was in labour.

At least for the whole of the past 2 episodes (presumably he brought them to the island bc he knew Amy was flesh).
missrosepip 9 months ago
I see the Doctor's reluctance to kill as an inherent part of his personality, not something that changes as he regenerates. I love Matt Smith but there's no good excuse on the writers' part for failing to treat death/genocide/murder as a very difficult and tragic decision to the Doctor. DW is, after all, still a "family show," for one thing, and also the show's long-running blatant opposition to mindless/remorseless violence is one of its best aspects, in my opinion.
belleglass 9 months ago
Well about the whole death thing, I totally agree in that with RTD, the Doctor was ALWAYS about giving someone a second chance, and now we're kind of having a "Doctoral revolution" in the sense that his morals seem to becoming more flexible. I understand that there is always character development, particularly after the whole Moffat/RTD change, but I do miss the old traits from Eccleston and Tennant. I love Smith, but I fell like he's a little too different, regeneration aside.
behindthesun02 9 months ago
I think it's possible the Doctor got rid of ganger Amy because he was certain that her consciousness would immediately be transferred into her pregnant body. That's why he told her that they were going to find her, and why when it showed pregnant Amy, she seemed completely disoriented, like she'd just woken up there and had no idea how she'd gotten there.
whitefluffyhat 9 months ago
I completely agree with you. I'm really upset that they got rid of the whole "give them a choice" thing. That's something I've always loved about the Doctor. I was really upset about how quickly he got rid of ganger Amy. I know it was meant to be this huge reveal but it was pretty shitty.
Also sorry if I spoiled you. I don't usually reblog that stuff but it was EVERYWHERE and I thought it was something that would inevitably be announced at some point before airing. It wasn't being hidden well.
aSammyGee 9 months ago 2
@aSammyGee Ganger-Amy couldn't have been given a choice though, because she was an earlier version of the flesh...the other gangers changed when the storm happened and became their own people. The ganger of Amy was being controlled by actual Amy (that's why it was saying she was pregnant/not pregnant, had labour pains & why she saw eyepatch woman) - ganger Amy without the connection to real Amy would've just been a body but no mind and real Amy was in labour & needed to go back to her body.

As for the spoiler - if it's the one that I think it is - it originated when someone edited false info into IMDB, and idiots, not knowing anyone could edit IMDB, spread it like wildfire. It's not true.
anonymousdeity 9 months ago
I think the Doctor is at peace with the idea of killing now. The Ninth and Tenth Doctor's brew-ha-ha over it was always in my eyes transference from his own crimes and was fallout from the Time War. Since the End of Time, the Doctor's gotten over himself a little. He's seen his actions justified, and whilst he isn't the 'Timelord Victorious' figure we saw in Waters of Mars, there's an essence of that that shines through, because that's always been a part of his character.
anonymousdeity 9 months ago

With regards to the River thing my friend recently pointed out that she first appeared in the two parters "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead". We've now seen the Silence so maybe the Forest bit has a reference to the "Only water in the forest is river"
LloydARoberts199218 9 months ago
@LloydARoberts199218 i recently rewatched that... and I don't think they have anything to do with each other. Silence in the Library was referring to the fact that there was no one there, not the silence...

what you said about the flesh amy was wrong amy was still in control of the flesh like the characters were in control in their own flesh until it came alive on its own. so it wasnt really like killing the flesh amy.

What did you think about David Tennant's voice saying "No, we've moved on" ?

I have no idea what you're referring to and I'm glad that i haven't been spoiled yet. I do get your anger. spoilers do ruin it.
