There are those of us who end up living with the love of one's life...and then there are the rest of us. Here's to the rest of us, and to my beautiful Paul, and to accepting that when our dreams don't come true, it may be because our soul in its wisdom has another plan.
I really don't know if it's possible to create a more beautiful, harmonious blend of voice and instrument than this recording. This is the dance I will share with my daughter at her wedding this Saturday, a melancholy tale of a special love gone, but never lost.
The serenity, the music, the beautiful lyric and the smooth as silk voice gently erupts into the otherwise silence of the day with this beautiful song.....it is superb as usual
mickeymousebiker1, your dedication is perhaps the nicest I have ever read. Listening to this really beautiful Hoagy Carmichael written song and reading your words choked me up to tears. I hope you one day find peace and joy with your beloved Barbra Rose, my friend.
I dedicate this sublime version (by Nat Cole) in very loving memory of the Darling of My Life -- My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife, Barbra Rose. We were together for only two years before cancer stole Barbra away from me. Barbra -- My Western Star -- you have Stardust in your hair (and eternal love for me). I pray that you can hear this song from your rose garden in Heaven. I pray that Jesus will send you back to earth, and take me back to Heaven with you (very soon)! Barbra- I love you beyond Time!
I have loved this song all my life. Now my wife is gone to heaven, and this song has crystallized, as if it were written for me. 45 years was not enough.
This, as well as Skylark, are the two best songs ever written...melody and lyrics...ironically both products of the genius Hoagy Carmichael....Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics to Skylark, Mitchell Parrish to Stardust. I NEVER tire of listening to these songs.
This is amazing, now a days all the singers need headphones to be able to sing to the background. So sad to see the quality of entertainment they produced these days, can't even do a simple thing *sigh* anyways, Nat king Cole is my all time cab
@jmjohnmannion Mr. Cole's Stardust is no doubt very brilliant. But I must say, Mr. Buble's rendition of Stardust is very well done as well. His use of a capella vocals accompanying his main vocals really made it different. have a listen and compare. tell me your opinion on that :)
You can listen a GREAT version of this song here /watch?v=hBi8SBh34rQ by Vic Damone, a singer of Sinatra's Era who is way underrated.

Maybe one of the most sensitive melodies matched to instrumentation, sung by the smoothest of all voices. Pure beauty.

His singing is indescribable and I can never get enough, don't get me wrong, but this instrumental in the background is just fantastic.
