My problem with this boss and pushing him off is that your stats need to be perfect.

If you're too strong you'll just kill him straight up... if you're too weak he'll push you and you won't get any exp. or a chance to ride the chocobo and get all the stuff.

apparently i forgot to utilize tidus' stunning steel (slowtouch) or his Slow magic

Haste is more effective if it is paired with slow

according to splitinfinity on gamefaqs you need to hit the thing with precisely 1,201 HP damage to flip it over and 501 points of damage more to push it back

plus it only drops lv1 key spheres if it successfully pushed off the cliff

hehe funny how this guy pushed me off the cliff. I thought it was gameover but it turned out just a different cutscene. but honestly i think he cheated me. cause he did like 2 pushes in a row and never did your next not even once. and so it turns out i lost alot of ap from losing this boss battle cause im very underlvled. my bro got this done on his first time. just 1 more thing. its amazing how fast you do these spells and attacks its like your on the clock like ff13 or ffx-2

ive been having trouble with this boss.. i kept on killing him after i would get stuck in a pattern of push him then he pushes me back. i think i overlevelled my guys a bit.

i ended up beating it but i basically had to Haste my 3 main dmg dealers.. Auron, Lulu (casting Fire), and Kimahri. Once i got them hasted out it was just the right balancing act of turns (check the turn order) where i would have it so that at least 4 turns would go by after i did a knock down.

@GreenApple968 Now you're going into NSG mode. For storyline purposes, yes I can BFA in NSG and that is without Zanmato. 2 Dark Aeons and Penance are still not proven in NSG without Zanmato. As for me, I don't even want to test it out. That requires a different kind of training.

@evilpompom I loved training in FF9, so I over trained my characters and it made this task a little too hard with Fira. 1k HP hit each time, but still too much.

@joebrueske Oh, and if you do over train, using this party setup and the same first round, hit CE w/ Fira. CE falls over when it gets hurt a lot between falls. Then tap him down with Tidus. Switch in characters to get their AP.

If you can't slow CE, use Delay Attack.

Rinse repeat. I was done in three turns.

Man i tried so hard to do this but i just couldn't The chocobo eater only ever did one attack, and that was push my characters back.. Thats the only attack he ever does when i fight it.. I must have tried over and over for like an hour. But it always ended up with him knocking my chars off, or me killing him before i could knock him off. even though i tried healing him too.. Its just the only attack he ever does is push us back.. I don't get it, maybe im just unlucky or something.

The attacks cheer and focus are atually very deadley skills. If you use each enough enventually you will do over 1000 Its preety killer. I used this technique on the first symour and did about 2000 per shot. About 7 times i did about 3000 dmg.

The most important thing is to use a Hi-Potion on the Boss so it doesn't die early.

If the boss died too early it's still on the edge. You need to keep it alive until you push it off the edge. Use the scan to see its HP, if it's below 500 or something then use a Hi-Potion on it.
