It´s always funny to hear that someone tell you that the one who´s driving behind you is actually faster than you - you just have to leave the door open.
Alonso is great and fantastic driver, one of the best, no doubt about it, but Räikkönen - Massa was way better combination.
You know, some people wanted Massa taken off the team this year because he did so poorly in 2011. But he's still with Ferrari because of this race, because he follows orders. They really value that. They've sacked great drivers in the past because they thought they were above the team, and they keep drivers that play for the team.
@AeroDaNamic as smedly said "in the end of the day, its all about the best result for ferrari." and felipe understands that. he didnt want to do this, but he listened to the team and what the team wanted.
@THAREALDAN C'mon ! What about te Red Cows giving a much better car and faster updates for our wonderboy - Vettel ? Horner is as sly as anyother Team Principal on the Grid. After all, only one driver wins the title and not two. It's up to the driver to be stronger than his teammate in the 1st part of the season to be then the no. 1 option. In RBR, it starts with race one, while even in Ferrari Felipe Massa has the wildcard in the 1st half to beat Alonso.
I love how people bag Ferrari and Alonso for this... 2 years earlier McLaren did the same thing at the same track, they did it MULTIPLE times during the season. Also all teams have done some sort of team orders at one points. Add to that Massa was NEVER going to win the championship in 2010, while Alonso had a chance so letting him past was the right decision.
get over it already, the team is always going for max results. Its like those cafe's at the airport, everything is 4X as expensive and everybody hates it but in the end that price or setup is most efficient for the company. Just like this, we may not like it but its most efficient. You don't score any points with entertaining the crowd and you don't lose any points by pissing them off. Get over it already, team orders have and will always exist in every team.
If it was not Massa's teammate Fernando, Fernando advance would have sooner or later. Fernando is much faster than Massa, so the result is totally real.
Or, is it in Britain 2011 there were no team orders to Vettel and Webber?
@Axon36 What you dont realise is that team orders are now legal. Just because team orders had been illegal for years, dosnt mean it didnt happen. It happened all the time
If i was massa i would've slammed on the brakes and taking me and alonso out as a protest, or tell him NO I do not undrstand, explain it over the radio. and tell my agent to start to look for a contract with another team.
Not really defending Alonso here, but most of the fault lies with the TEAM. I know Alonso 'hinted' at it, but if Massa just slowed, and (in another universe) Alonso refused to take position, Vettel, who remember was only a few seconds behind, would've have had them both! Even if I was in his position, I would have taken it, if anything just to keep Vettel away from me. And don't get me wrong, when I saw this happen, part of me died for Massa who deserved the win. A very dirty thing from Ferrari.
@SmanUK1 It's a joke dumbass. I hate people like you who take everything serious. You are probably also somebody who asks if PC mods are for PS3 or XBOX 360
Im so glad that fair play and RedBull won....they could have used team-order in Brasil to let Webber pass Vettel, but they didnt do that and every1 was critizing them because of if it after that race, because Webber would have been in much stronger position...but if they had used team-order, Alonso would have become champion, by illegal teamorder
Needless to say it felt damn good to see Falonso showing his first to Petrov after AbuDabhi race...what a bad looser :P
@Balnazzardi Yes, sure... Up to that race, Alonso had 98 points; Massa, 67. In 2010 Alonso won 5 races (one with help,of course). Massa, none (he could´ve won this, though). This year, Alonso won 1 race (a true feat, seeing how superior Red Bull and McLaren were). Massa, none. Alonso got 357 points; Massa, hardly 1/3 that amount (118). Also, Alonso finished in the championship ahead of Hamilton, who had a better car and retired only once. Massa, 3 times. Yes, deffinitely Alonso is ridiculous.
@AlanMartinNala Sure hes fast, but i think point of that previous comment was...Alonso got some wins by cheats and team orders. And like we saw in 2007, that was ridiculous holding up Hamilton and showing fist in indianapolis.
All the stupid complaints in the press on why he had to let him through etc are now void! Team orders are allowed so be prepared to for more. Whether you like him or not Fernando was faster and Massa should have let him through. Felipe's has lost his edge since his accident when hit in the face. For me he should have won 2008 title where he won more races than Hamilton. If you add the Infamous Singapore Crashgate race, Massa was leading & would have won race and title. Alonso? A great GP driver.

I have no problem with what i've just saw, i do however find it hilarious how people constantly slag off alonso, he is a double world champion, a man who never gives up, attacks every lap and gives full commitment-hes exciting to watch and a brilliant passer. Let's not pretend for one second that Hamilton or even Vettel have never asked for team orders to be in place. Alonso was quicker than Massa, the team made a decision and it paid off. End of Story.
Alonso will always be a cheat. Anyone remember him whining and throwing the toys out of the pram coz a certain rookie was outclassing him during the U.S grand prix in 2007?
what is ridiculous? massa was driving completly normal, alonso is a fantastic driver, after vettel the best one, but that day he couldnt overtake massa on he's own, thats the fact...
it is very very hard to overtake on F1 if you have the same car.
If a slower team mate is holding up a faster team mate, no matter what, he should let the other past. Its better for the team. Drivers work for a team. Holding up your team mate means causing damage for the team, therefore, what Ferrari did here was 100% correct. Sorry Massa, you are not fast enough.
@nixxxon18 Yup, other than what you just described was explicitly forbidden at the time, it was 100% correct to do it. I mean, rules, come on. What are these good for anyway?
@FifaHDSkillers No, this is money, politics and business. The last thing this is, is Race. 50's were race, 60's were race, 70's were race, the early of 80's were race. This shit isn't F1.
@gnarkillkicksass That wasn't team orders, which at the time were against the rules. Heikki could see Lewis was faster and made the decision himself. Team orders were against the rules, a driver pulling aside for a quicker driver was not.
@nitroboost8765 It was a clear team order, only a moron would fail to see what was going on. What's ridiculous about this is that if Alonso was that much faster then he should have been able to pass Massa easily. Poor boy what a loser
@8911145533 well only 0.5 per lap plus you loose grip behind a car that says he have shittier grip than massa and massa have a faster accerlation on the end of the corner poor :)
@gnarkillkicksass Yeah dude coz he went on to win by bloody 1minute and 4s from 2nd place.. Alonso was arguably slower or best case just as fast Massa.
@gnarkillkicksass Yeah dude coz he went on to win by bloody 1minute and 4s from 2nd place.. Alonso was arguably slower or best case just as fast Massa.
Dumb fucking brits. Magnanimus is a greek work commonly used by Latins so he does know what the word means! You are the one who should go see the meaning of the word RACE!
Very good, that Massa made it that apperantly!! They got a fine and so that they will never do that again. If Massa had not let Alonso get trough, he maybe would have won this race :( But I love that Team, Massa & Alonso forever!! :)
@pippimannmetzger There's no rule stopping them from doing it now. In reality, teams were using team orders all thru the period of the ban. All Ferrari was guilty of was being to stupid to encode them or discuss them before the race.
Falonso is nothing but pathetic whiner (this and Canada 2005), bad looser (Abu Dabhi 2010) and liar (Singapore 2008, and right after he had won this GP last year)...
I mean seriously how can ANYONE have ANY respect for such asshole!
Can't wait to see Kimi returning to kick Santander Eyebrow's ass in following years!
I've been wondering this a long time, but what would have happened if Massa had just creamed his car into a wall on purpose. Alonso would have the lead but ferrari wouldn't have maximum points
anyone remember this turn the last year? Kovalainen let hamilton overtake him, and hamilton got world champion just for one point.why don´t you talk about this?
@guille8001500 I think this particular incident was discussed much more for two reasons:
1.) Everyone, including myself was really hoping for him to win that race after his comeback from injury, so it seemed really cruel at the time to take it away from him like that.
And seriously, @gnarkillkicksass .... did you watch the 2008 race at Silverstone? Clearly, Hamilton would have passed him regardless, Heikki was smart and didnt make a dumb decision that could have ruined the Team on that day
@guille8001500 it was timo glock he over took in sao palo 08 not last year because vettel won last year and when hamilton won kovalainen wasn't even racing in f1
@guille8001500 At the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix that year, it was wet, Hamilton was on the inters/wet, kovalainen was stil on the dry compound... try driving a formula 1 car in the rain with dry tyres, tell me how you get on
@guille8001500 because this wasn't so a offical message. This was a offical message. Everyone could hear this. And a Team order wasn't allowed at this time at the formula 1
@guille8001500 Difference is, Hamilton was going to overtake Kovaleinen easily, and Alonso wasnt getting past Massa, Alonso only got past cause of the team, and Hamilton got past EASIER cause of the team, i support both drivers, and Kobayashi, hes immense.
Blah, amateurs. Jon Todtd woulda done that like a pro.

I think most Hamilton fans forget when Heikki pulled aside for LH at Silverstone in 2008!
gnarkillkicksass 3 months ago 17
@gnarkillkicksass no he passes him on the inside Heikki did not defend

@gnarkillkicksass He went up the inside on Stowe Heikki did not defend
ninchin2 3 months ago
@gnarkillkicksass That wasn't team orders, which at the time were against the rules. Heikki could see Lewis was faster and made the decision himself. Team orders were against the rules, a driver pulling aside for a quicker driver was not.

@gnarkillkicksass That was an overtake, clean and simple.
nitroboost8765 2 months ago
@nitroboost8765 It was a clear team order, only a moron would fail to see what was going on. What's ridiculous about this is that if Alonso was that much faster then he should have been able to pass Massa easily. Poor boy what a loser
8911145533 2 months ago 47
@8911145533 Yep, this was a team ordered pass...I was talking about Hockenheim 2008 with Hamilton & Kovalainen

@8911145533 He had a go, look at 0:20 (by the way, I'm British so I'm unbiased). I also blame Herman Tilke - look at Abu Dhabi in the same year.
formulacountdown 2 months ago
@8911145533 well only 0.5 per lap plus you loose grip behind a car that says he have shittier grip than massa and massa have a faster accerlation on the end of the corner poor :)
Grisu94x 1 month ago
@8911145533 overtaking takes time always and vettel was to get him faster than Alonso passes Massa, does it make him a loser? bah...

@gnarkillkicksass Yeah dude coz he went on to win by bloody 1minute and 4s from 2nd place.. Alonso was arguably slower or best case just as fast Massa.

@gnarkillkicksass Hamilton won the race by almost a lap. I don't think Heikki let him past.

Very good, that Massa made it that apperantly!! They got a fine and so that they will never do that again. If Massa had not let Alonso get trough, he maybe would have won this race :( But I love that Team, Massa & Alonso forever!! :)
pippimannmetzger 3 months ago

Balnazzardi 3 months ago 2
I've been wondering this a long time, but what would have happened if Massa had just creamed his car into a wall on purpose. Alonso would have the lead but ferrari wouldn't have maximum points

anyone remember this turn the last year? Kovalainen let hamilton overtake him, and hamilton got world champion just for one point.why don´t you talk about this?
guille8001500 3 months ago 31
@guille8001500 I think this particular incident was discussed much more for two reasons:
1.) Everyone, including myself was really hoping for him to win that race after his comeback from injury, so it seemed really cruel at the time to take it away from him like that.
2.) The fact that Ferrari made it so obvious.

Because Hekki wasn't told to let Hamilton past, where as here the team told massa to let alonso past.

@2009MRTT
Yes, you are correct!
And seriously, @gnarkillkicksass .... did you watch the 2008 race at Silverstone? Clearly, Hamilton would have passed him regardless, Heikki was smart and didnt make a dumb decision that could have ruined the Team on that day
MotorCityMonster2012 2 months ago
@guille8001500 i see your point they all talk about massa let alonso alonso is a fag for bitching but none for hamilton and his pal Kovalainen

Fanclub06 2 months ago
@guille8001500 Difference is, Hamilton was going to overtake Kovaleinen easily, and Alonso wasnt getting past Massa, Alonso only got past cause of the team, and Hamilton got past EASIER cause of the team, i support both drivers, and Kobayashi, hes immense.

@PROHAMKOB Heikki was ahead of Hamilton all the time. And he let him pass in the hairpin very obviously.
