  • I am very interested in Bando but this video does not show proper Bando, it look s more like Karate with a few leg sweeps thrown in for good measure.

What are the different schools; how do you pronounce Bando; How does it differ from say Silat?

What is the training etc.etc. can you get instructional DVDS etc etc.

I would really love to know. How many styles are there of Bando?

  • Im Burmese, and I always wanted to learn Bando... but I cant find any in Australia....

  • Very nice vid. Good to see Bando gaining popularity and being taught in the states. I have never formally studied it but my Thai teacher studied with Dr. Gyi and Leo Gaje. I love the concepts and spirit of this art.

  • there are just soo many incredible martial arts styles, i need to get back into some, trying to find places for muy thai or something like this, but sadly i am A) lazy, and B) heading to college next year so i have no idea on my free time

  • this marial art looks awesome.

  • AWESOME, any Bando schools in Baltimore, MD

  • good.

  • does anyone know anyone or where i can speak to someone to get started in this art form?

  • gatka shaster vidya and bando it is so far

  • this is pretty :) like a dance

  • warriors come out and play, glad to see the vid and good wishes to all bando brothers

  • Reading some of the comments here, it seems that the USA is picking up on Bando. Here in the UK it is VERY hard to find decent classes. I believe that there may only be 1 or 2 masters qualified to teach Thaing and Banshay here. There was a Lethwei tournament exhibition given in London a couple of years ago, which was very well attended, mostly by ex-pats from Myanmar

  • I am also half Burmese, my mother's family hail from Mandalay. We consider Bando to be part of our cultural heritage, but we keep it very much to ourselves to avoid the 'show me some of it' mentality of others. Because it is little known in the west, people perceive it as something 'exotic' when they first hear of it. Often they are totally surprised to hear that Burma has a discipline of its own!

I personally train with kukri and bowie knife, possibly the 2 deadliest short blades there are.

  • Very nice!

  • My Friends dad is the Tiger system Bando Master...I think its pritty cool that actually there is two Different masters within 15 Miles of each other. I believe one is the Bull master and I know Jerry is the Tiger Master., The rest of them is all over the country and Correct me if im wrong but there is only 8 Right?

  • شكرا لكم على هذا العرض الجيد لأسلوب الباندو

  • they got gurkha knife :D

  • Thanks for the video, and I really would like to learn Bando, it is the art that combines the inner-self, mind and body, I am from Burma and I am Shotokan Karate black belt holder. I am greatly looking forward to learn Bando.

  • @LynnLight ...See my website: platoscave.info

  • @ebbony54 : Thanks a lot for the site. It's great.

  • Any Bando instructors in Michigan?

  • Bando is slowly working its way back into the minds of people everywhere. There are some who don't take it seriously.

I have never heard of a fighting style called Snow Tiger, but perhaps I will look into it.

Mollylope, if you would do Bando, you wouldn't be able to handle a knife, ((though we use a weapon called a Kukri, but it is a knife in general)) until you were at least green-belt level.

  • @Foxninja07 I don't think there is a such thing as one. Maybe that part of the animal of the style but thats impossible. Back then they only had tiger, and snow leopards so to have a snow tiger would be utterly fake. Its almost like saying snow elephant when they have elephants but they all live in the forest.

  • @Foxninja07 - Enter "SnowTiger Combat Systems" in YouTube, you'll find video on it.

  • Check out YouTube of Jason Boyer's Cobra Form.

  • hidden? i play bando here , i don't know about you people but bando is not hidden don't think of it as something " secretive " we just don't advertise it alot although we will hopefully , but to learn bando you have to have a goal of this training or u'll never succeed

  • I've never seen BANDO in Myanmar before. We should keep records and teach to everybody. I admit Burmese Martial Arts Masters are very secretive regards on their skills and secret techniques. Anyway thanks for this video. Much appreciated. :D

  • Thank to Jean-Marc GIRARD from France for this vidéo.

  • This is the first time I have ever seen Bando.....beautiful art...great video...thanks for posting

  • They probably wouldn't let anyone that can't spell "nives" play with knives.

  • when i get my black belt in karate this year i wanted to do this.. but not right away, ill probably be 14 when i wanna do this, do u think they would let a 14 girl fight with nives?

  • if uve got a black belt in karate then i think they would

  • I see it I would not mind studying it I would love to learn it. And also have my son learn it. he is young 15 it should be good for him and me also

  • Chinman wrote that the Bando M.A system may die off because people who practiced it are so secretive. After 30 years of the Anglo-Burmese War in the 1800s, the British conquered Burma by superiority of fire power & colonized it for 100 years during which all Burmese martial arts were banned. Patriots practiced these arts diligently in secret in monasteries & morph them into dance routines to keep them alive. So these arts are still very alive today. Secrecy may also be a safeguard issue.

  • Bando will NEVER die off!

    We're always out there...hidden...but we're there! =3

  • ever heard of a figihting style called snowtiger ??? its roots are bando

  • @Grudge20s - completely wrong.

  • hey ..chiman1000

ur right .. but it will never die ..

it grows up ,, trust me

    thanx for posting this video

  • Bando is one of the best arts out there. Too bad they are so secretive. The art could die off.

  • look like muay boran

  • Cool video.

  • My dad's the second to perform!

  • Where did they get their kukri from? Its not like the British Gurkha or Tora kukri drills.

  • i have practiced bando for years and it is a very efficient style. Ive trained in the boar system only.

  • Dr. G

  • F***ing cool.

BTW One of the new promising white belts I roll with at my BJJ school is a former Bando student. He is tough as hell. This MA warrants further investigation ...

  • I have been studying this System ( different from a style)for many years. I have found this to be a full body sytem that is very effective. Born and refined on the battlefield. One must remember it is the person that makes the system. Not the opposite.

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  • I think burmese bando is nothing..most of the time...they protect only upper part of body..speed aso slow..agility aso not good..this guy really can't compare to muay thai fighter..they r just for show..haha

  • Are you kidding? I practice Thai styles myself as well as Kung Fu and Silat, the Bando I have seen is very nice and they have A LOT of legwork. You must be a novice.

  • I am in the 4th generation class of Bando. There are only 4 generations of Bando. My master is the 3rd,his master is the 2nd,and the man mentioned in the video is the first of America.

  • FANTASTIC

  • good to see this. You really don't hear of bando too much anymore.

  • I went to two bando camps in athens ohio, by far the best style out there. war games were fun too.

  • hey do you know Bill or Leslie Darr?

  • I do, They were my instructors for about a year and a half.

  • hey do you know Bill or Leslie Darr?

  • Pretty Sweet!
