It's true that invading the north could have solve the conflict. But the Generals at the Pentagon feared China reaction. Regarding this documentary, compassion and giving food is not necessarly the key, especially if you forget the first rule : respect. US may have lost the war in Vietnam, but I think that as far as the policy of Containment is concerned, they did achieve a certain level of success. Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia were lost to communists (some particularly vile such as Khmer Rouge), but still the entire subcontinent of SE Asia wasn't. Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia weren't taken over by communism. If the US hadn't intervened, maybe the entire subcontinent would have been lost to commies.
the US did not lose the war in vietnam. the peace treaty was signed. we left. the north decided to invade several years later and that asshole Ford and congress would not help our allies. it would have been easy to stop the invasion north of Hue. Once stopped, the troops could rally. we had bombers, carriers, war ships nearby.

The trucks the NVA were using to convoy troops and munitions were Fords - made in a Soviet factory designed and built by the Ford Motor Company. The fuel that powered them came from Soviet oil fields developed by American interests with close ties to the Rockefeller oil cartel. The reason we pulled out was because we though South Vietnam could handle themselves from now on through the rest of the war. We maybe lost 250,000 troops and wounded more, but as an American, we killed a hell of a lot more than that. If we would of left Russia at that time period which even today is unstable, the principles of their struggles will rub off to Vietnam as a whole.

It's true that invading the north could have solve the conflict. But the Generals at the Pentagon feared China reaction. Regarding this documentary, compassion and giving food is not necessarly the key, especially if you forget the first rule : respect. You can lack of respect to another culture, as clever as you can be, with details. Respecting the value of the other works better than spending money, and avoids help turning to destruction.

Biggest problem seemed to be; south Viet Nam was surrounded by oceans rivers and different countries. Virtually indefendable. When in a totally defensive war. Had we stormed Hanoi with infantry, war would have been over in a month.

US may have lost the war in Vietnam, but I think that as far as the policy of Containment is concerned, they did achieve a certain level of success. Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia were lost to communists (some particularly vile such as Khmer Rouge), but still the entire subcontinent of SE Asia wasn't. Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia weren't taken over by communism. If the US hadn't intervened, maybe the entire subcontinent would have been lost to commies.

the US did not lose the war in vietnam. the peace treaty was signed. we left. the north decided to invade several years later and that asshole Ford and congress would not help our allies. it would have been easy to stop the invasion north of Hue. Once stopped, the troops could rally. we had bombers, carriers, war ships nearby.

The villagers were caught inbetween 2 ideologies.On one hand they could not ignore the ideologies of thier northern brothers while on the other hand they understood the support of a democratic political movement was more appealing than communism.The democratic political movements in the south part of Vietnam was largely based on historic animosities.The Southern Vietnamese had wanted to break away from the North for centuries..long before the Americans intervened.Too bad it degenerated into war

@00340800 but the truth still stands. The ratio of casualties is completely against the Vietcong. The reason we pulled out was because we though South Vietnam could handle themselves from now on through the rest of the war. We maybe lost 250,000 troops and wounded more, but as an American, we killed a hell of a lot more than that. If we would of left Russia at that time period which even today is unstable, the principles of their struggles will rub off to Vietnam as a whole.
