Heh I like how at 0:40 it looks the moth wants to be friends...but alas, the toad got a lovely four-course meal! Holy crap that sucker was easily half the size of the toad itself!! Where the hell do moths that big come from?!
in south korea, the elephant hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor) is about that big -- ~3.0" wingspan, body diameter ~1.0 cm at the thickest part. They're infrequent, which means you get a few per week throughout humid summer months, just flying in through open hallway windows in old university buildings.
Sphingidae is an old-world family, UK to Japan, but not the Americas until they stowed away on jets or boats.
Maybe a 5" green praying mantis could eat one (eww!), but they're even rarer.
hi, does anyone know if its ok to keep toads, like i live near a forest kind of and i found a few, i have a big container with moss and mud and stuff but im unsure about food, heat ?? and stuff, anyone got any advise
I put a little baby toad in the cage with my toad so like they could be friends, but instead he ate it. The legs were sticking straight out of his mouth.
LOL

Cedar or pine bark, chips or mulch should never be used as a substrate because the oils in these woods can be toxic to amphibians

Your frog is a pretty shitty hunter haha. Good thing he lives in captivity, and that his lunch lands on his head.

kane38885 2 years ago
@kane38885 that's correct, but the moth had already moved around and the toad i guess singled it out as food
