Blah blah blah, influenced by this or that. It doesn't matter as long as the music is good. So shut up & enjoy it. Death Metal, Black Metal, it's all a bunch of labels created to sell albums according to specific generes. It's all metal when you boil it down & metal is the best music on this planet or any other, Stop arguing like a bunch of childish cunts & enjoy it for what it is. That is all.
@edwinaguirremartinez Cradle of Filth combine non melodic black metal riffs with classical music ..they do have gothic atmospheres in their music but I dont think that makes it gothic metal
@30billyclementine how come? black goddess rises, principle of evil made flesh, to eve the art of witchcraft and of mist and midnight skies were written during Total Fucking Darkness/Goetia era and were intended for those releases
also, there is a part in of A crescendo of passion and bleeding which I'm 100% sure that sounds like ripped off Morbid Angel
dunno mate, was pissed last night when i wrote that, ( infact i always am when i post on metal vids)
but anyway they are obviosly influenced by black metal id say , and probably death ,metal too, i supose everyband is influenced by everything they have ever been into in someway, but every metal band is influenced by iron maden even if they dont know it
@30billyclementine the black metal influence on Cradle of Filth is 100% correct statement. Principle is their most black metallish influence to date, but one should not overlook the few death metallish bits it also had as a mark of their demo years.
And obviously, every metal band is influenced by iron maiden :P especially CoF, who are from the same country as them XDXD
Yeah, Nymphetamine was nixed. There were keyboard sounds, but not as many. In Midian there were lots of keyboards, but that album was much more death metal guitar based.
Midian did have something Cruelty and The Beast had, it sounded a bit like Cruelty and The Beast somehow. Yeah, I'm stupid for thinking that. Damnation and A Day did actually have some thrash metal in it and most of the songs were actually really fast.
You could say there was some Dusk... and Her Embrace in Nymphetamine. It had the atmosphere Dusk... and Her Embrace had but lyrically it wasn't anything like Dusk... and Her Embrace.
By the time Dusk... and Her Embrace was out they were black metal with some gothic in it. And by the time Midian was out they were less black metal and much more gothic metal.
Yes, but SOME of their stuff isn't melodic, most of it is but some parts aren't. Some of their songs off of The Principle of Evil Made Flesh were actually originally brutal death metal, they were playing songs that were on The Principle of Evil Made Flesh in 1992, that's what I meant. Their demos up to Total Fucking Darkness were brutal death metal, then came Total Fucking Darkness in 1993 and The Principle of Evil Made Flesh which were blackened death metal.
@LivingdeadMetal Indeed, but even on songs like the title track you could find some melodic parts here and there, like its keyboards or that guitar solo. Now you can't say that The Rape and Ruin of Angels, Desire in Violent Overture, Nocturnal Supremacy or Ebony Dressed for Sunset had the same melodic structures or atmospheres. Principle managed to be an unique CoF release due to the fact that it mixed haunting keyboards with raw guitars.
I find some of the stuff from their first album not melodic at all, it's 95% melodic but some songs like the start of The Principle of Evil Made Flesh and the start of The Black Goddess Rises aren't melodic at all.
3,01 to 04 fuck up big time ............ il stick to the cd;s lest it sounds 5hundred times better

@edwinaguirremartinez actually:
Orgiastic Pleasures Foul/Invoking the Unclean - death metal
Total Fucking Darkness/Goetia *I know it was never released, but still...*-blackened death metal
Principle of Evil Made Flesh - black metal with death influences
VEmpire/Dusk - gothic black metal
Cruelty - symphonic black metal
From the Cradle to Enslave onwards - EXTREME gothic metal *Damnation, Godspeed and Darkly Darkly were symphonic extreme gothic metal though* :P
