None of those players played in this game. Marshall was a upcoming powerhouse, until mark snyder took over the program, he drove it in the ground, and now Doc is trying to revive it. Marshall is still a well known brand, and when it starts winning again, it will be right back up there.
It's a little misleading to say Marshall is on the decline. They somehow lucked into a good pro quarterback and one of the best wide receivers of all time. They haven't been lucky since then.
Those final four downs were the worst play calling I've ever seen. You have the ball on the 2 yard line with 25 seconds left and no time outs. Why not start trying to throw to the endzone immediately? That way you get 3 or 4 chances. Instead they call a run up the middle, which if it fails kills most of your clock and costs 2 downs because you have to spike it. Then a pass to the sidelines? Why not pass to the endzone and then one more? The last play they called should have been the first.
wow, where have you been the past 5 or 6 years? marshall has been on the decline since leftwich left.. 2003 was the beginning of this slide even though we got this wonderful upset
let me see the last 5 or 6 six years? oh i went to marshall then transferred to WVU...i agree marshall has been on the decline, but still was decent until the past couple years...pruett left because he knew what he had coming with recruits. snyder has done nothing for them, hopefully they will improve but doubt it. i like marshall, but their conference helped them win a lot, conference usa hasn't been so kind.
true. It seems Pruett left right before the decline, but they also had recruiting limitations as well. I think things will get better, but it does seem the best times are in the past. we need another Leftwich
Well, I think Stan Hill was pretty good, it might have been the begining of the slide but they were still good after Leftwich. The last 2 or 3 years have been MISERY
ya, now i appreciate stan hill, he wasnt chad or byron but he was definitly better than morris or anyone currently..and i miss bradshaw but luckily he is doing great in nyc..i remember around 2003 we went something like 8-4 and i thought that was bad, now i will give anything to revisit those days

Snyder was able to rally his troops by the end of the year, though, beating us badly, and then smacking the Sooners. What a strange season.

@Miller434
It's the absence of players like Moss, Pennington, and Leftwich

hey was that doofus josh freeman on the team back then. i'm thinking not.

Marshall has now scheduled itself 5 bowl teams instead of 7. This year's schedule works tremendously in our favor.

Marshall needs a turn around for the program....not sure what's wrong but it's heading in the wrong direction

Bernard Morris was a great athlete, but not a good qb. I just keep thinking he was going to break out, but it never happened.
Why do we play V Tech and WVU the same year? We are just begging for the losses. We need to playone or the other, if you ask me

And now KSU has stolen Marshall's "We are" slogan. Pathetic.

Absolutely beautiful. You can heare the wheels coming off of the K-State football program. Nice.
Patriccio72 4 years ago
Yeah, but not that year. Kansas State went 11-2 that year and won the Big 12 title. There only loses were Marshall and Texas.

Too bad we had Schwinn in who didn't know how to run the option.
