So EA decided to not really do 1:1 for whatever reason, but it seems the expectation is that motion plus will allow 1:1 movement. 1:1 probably made for a game as difficult to pick up as real tennis, so that's probably why EA decided to pull back from that. Anyhow, it think it is a reviewer's responsibility to at least put some effort into learning how to play the game as the publisher intended, and use that to inform the review, rather than on what turned out to be a false expectation.
Grand Slam Tennis is not 1:1 at least 100% of the time. You have to bring the controller back to center after each stroke / point to recalibrate Motion Plus. Only then through your stroke does it approach a 1:1 motion. The face of the racket is forward with the buttons facing up, so keep the buttons facing upward. Backswing before each shot up to 90 degrees but not further. See the ea forums for more suggestions. Once you practice you'll be playing like a pro.
