wow...how could justin beier get more views than this. my generation has lost it!!! most talent died out with the 80's. The few veterans of that era stand as a testament to the true power of misc. Not some wimpy generic acoustic guitar over auto tuned vocals. I'm talking about music with real meaning. music that makes you think. heres to my favorite band!!!
Most of the time Alexes guitar style comes across the way it should have been in the first place live. They come across to sterile and over produced in the studio too often.
never listen top decaying thought. For this epic virtual recording is being diminshed watching from the fence, and the rate of decay, and the proximity or the sun, it's simple human again. Damn, foiled again by the Sun!~!
Excellent! Thanks for posting this. Think I finally figured out all the cool chords Alex uses. At least I have a better version now than I used to have. All the tab I've seen that's out there is junkola when it comes to the lovely 'washy' chords Alex uses. Cheers.
in responce to 999Atwood's comment, Rush actually doesnt like to have their concerts too loud because they go for more a clean sound, and once you go past a certain level on an amp you dont get the clearness that you would at a lower volume, according to Alex Lifeson- in a interview i watched...
I saw the opening act of this tour in Greenville, SC. They played where the Furman Palladins play their basketball games - yep, a big gym!!! It was awsome. It was by far the best venue I've ever seen them in.
It's not technically flat if that's what you mean, but the music is a bit empty. I just think it's the nature of these songs. They started getting rid of the heavy keys during this time and then you're just left with 3 instruments.

They usually use a 'sample' of Geddy's voice for any backuyp type singing . Actually alex's voice is horrible. He probably triggers the samples with a pedal and mouths singing for show but, if you listen csoeley it's clearly geddy;s voice on sample
@pm3181 alex sings but geddys voice is with it, but listen to the differents stages live album and you will hear alex sing without the backup on this song
I caught this tour in Kansas City, I had hearing loss for 2 days & was getting worried. The sound is so clean you don't realize the damage until later. Rush = a great live band but they are LOUD!
High guys, i'm from Russia. I've known RUSH in 1985 when I was 10 years old, from the album Power Windows. It's difficult to find info about RUSH at that time. But I tried, & now i have even Neils drum sticks.
I'm not sure, but, have they ever toured any part of Russia? I would assume not given the politics of the time when they would have had the opportunity but you never know.
i love the contrast b/t hold your fire/presto.well not all songs but hyf was so poetic like and sensitive, presto is like stand up&freakin fight-bad-ass.neils playing on this, his freaking drum sound&fills give me a hard-on! full of passion and angst.ithink one of rush's heaviest.i love this albm-i was a sen.&got to see it front row.they opened w/force ten¬ to sound whatever but halfway thru (snare triplet) i was airdrum'g and he watched me for like 3 mins straight. never forget that(satx)
Honey ,I've been a Rush fan since 1976 and have seen them live multiple times and can say with confidence that their music can be a life changing epiphany . They are what I like to call"celebral rock"
Sometimes I think I prefer that smooth poppy distinct Wal sound than to the overdriven metallic-clanky sound from his Fender Jazz he's been beating to death since the mid '90s.
I agree ... or at least mix it up a bit .. as awesome as they were July 13th at Molson Ampitheatre Toronto (Time Machine Tour) I found his bass too overdriven .
I saw them back in '93 on the Roll The Bones tour and he was using the Wal bass and his sound was FANTASTIC !!! I like the aggressive tone of his jazz bass but it's not for everysong .he pulled out his Rickenbacker for a couple of tunes on the Snakes and Arrows show and it was more defined than the jazz . On any bass GEDDY IS DA MAN !
@jnoble12 I agree. That Fender jazz bass thing is so irritating, so bland, always bouncing around like a goddam rubber ball. I put the Rickenbacker first, the Wal second. And why the hell has he been playing the same crummy fuckin' bass for the last fifteen years (or more)? Rush was always about CHANGE. That was the whole point! Now Geddy is just a cheap imitation of his former self.
@chloritol1 I initially loved the then -new (1993) Fender Jazz sound....It was fantastic on Moving Pictures and Signals and when he went back to it for Counterparts, it sounded so good on that album and tour. It's just that when Geddy stopped playing through amps on stage and went to a DI sound to the house mix, over the years his sound just got too muddy and clanky espeically around Vapor Trais.I guess he likes it that way but I'm not too crazy about it.I wish he'd clean it up a little live
@jnoble12 Every song is wrecked by his OAOAOA vowels. (How many examples would you like? "Each of OAOASs..." "Genetic BlOAOAOAnds." What the fuck?) I have to point out that the vocal section after the guitar solo in Freewill on Snakes and Arrows LIve proves he has his voice back. (Not that every song requires that kind of range.) He's simply CHOOSING to be a bad singer. What an asshole. It's really disappointing. Lemme also point out that their (the bands') songwriting totally SUCKS now.
@chloritol1 I won't go as far as saying their songwriting completely sucks, but they've gotten into a comfort zone that can sound stale and predictable. Neil's been writing lyrics since Test For Echo that are increasingly impossible to fashion a good song around.
@POPCORN454545 I was talking about the lyrics Neil's been writing since Test For Echo not his whole Rush career, retard. Based on your other comments here, you sound like a total loser, possibly with brain damage. Now get off the computer, your mommy needs to use it.
If Lemme points something out then it must be the clincher! Because he is one of the greatest bassists, lyricists and song writers evert! LOL If only Rush would write all their songs for you, use only the instruments you allow, sing the way you dictate, write songs that you approve of, have lyrics that speak only to you, then they would be just so so "cool". Shame they have had so much success and critical acclaim these past 20 years. I am sure the next CD will be dedicated to you!

@POPCORN454545 If the 980X is shit then why does it cost $1000 and the 3930k only costs $600? and rich people don't live in town houses nice try go suck your own dick.
@HD5830Gamer It's like that because Intel fails at pricing. Go look at the benchmarks stupid woman. And i'm not rich, i'm upper middle class. My family has a 2011 5th wheel. a 2010 dodge ram. A 67 camaro. That shit is all expensive. Way more than you could afford.
@jnoble12 Fuckin' awful. Terrible. ONLY BAD. What made Rush great in the 70s and 80s (and I was one of those people who constantly railed against people who only liked their "old" material) was their willingness to go SOMEWHERE ELSE. These songs now -- all of them -- are hideous. None of us should kid ourselves. 'The muse is ours to borrow, not to own.' Rush is gone. I'm crushed. Fuck.
@chloritol1 This is a great song. As is Nobody's Hero, The Pass, Roll The Bones, Animate, lots of their 90's stuff is good. I don't see anybody but you're fat ass saying 90's + sucks.

I wonder how much DAT backup vocals were mix in with Alex's own voice cause he sounds like a pretty decent vocalist on his own from this mix.
Was the footage of this show ever intended to be released? Kinda looks like it, high production values...

It's snatched from the direct feed from the big screen behind them, so I don't think it was meant for release.
