It was the most secure aeroplane before 1914 and it is still not understandable why the pilot of a replice from 2006 crashed with it. Perhaps todays pilots are unable to fly such oldtimers.
I built a RC model of this plane in the 80's. The kit was cheap with very bad instructions, took me a day to build one side of the wing, built the other side in two hours! It had a 60 inch wingspan and I powered it with a OS MAX.35 engine. The engine looked small for this size airplane but I used a 12 inch prop and it flew to scale. Worst kit I ever had but one of the most fun to fly airplanes I ever built!
It is not pronounced Taub but Taube. The "e" at the end is heard just like the "e" in the word "men". Cool plane by the way.

Beautiful replica, but the modern engine with electric start is just wrong...

I like the "ETRICH" on the underwing surface. That's marketing!

The "Taube" was used for the very first bombing mission in the Italo-Turkish War in Lybia, in 1911-1912. It was flown by Lieutnant Giulio Gavotti.

There is something about the Rumpler-Taube. I have always admired it.

Thanks for this good video.
Iam from Germany and my father built this Etrichtaube in 2006 orginal 1:1.
By crashing it after the 4th fly the pilot died
by a human mistake.
A new Taube will be finished in 2009.
