  • as from Mayan descend I found insulting the denial of my people and what they achieve in science, architecture, engineering and astronomy, and also as a all Mayans we don't like to be mistaken and discredited ... we are not related to Hebrew people at all, i am so sorry if I sound rough but this is how I feel: betrayed! [by the way, do you guys have something to say about the Mayan Calendars: the old and the new?] let's see if you guys really know about my people?

  • @Kaguamax Where did the video deny your "achievals in science, architecture, engineering and astronomy"? And where do you believe Mayans came from? You should believe what DNA evidence says and not oral tradition, which can be corrupted over time. DNA evidence says you're descendants vary and are from many places. Your specific Mayan tribe may not necessarily be Hebrew descendents, I agree, but you are descended from somewhere.

  • @Kaguamax

It's too bad your ancients died out, they might have given humanity a better chance for a math, science and technology based society, rather than the religious nonsense one we have.

  • Sorry but your prophet must have been into the peyote. He would have had a greater worldwide distribution of his book had he listed it under fiction at Barnes and Noble.

  • "only one of the 'many' civilizations.."??

    2 Nephi 1:8

"And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet

from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations

would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an

    inheritance."

And the Introduction to the book of mormon in says the Lamanites "are the principal ancestors of the American Indians."

I know it's changed since. But we all know Joseph Smith would have looked at any Native A and said he/she is a lamanite.

  • @thepatman100 One commonality of critics of Mormons,is that they take things out of context. Read 2 Nephi 1:6

"Wherefore, I, Lehi, prophesy according to the workings of the Spirit which is in me, that there shall none come into this land save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord". So basically, other people can come, as long as they were "brought by the hand of the Lord". Second, the introduction you're talking about I'll post next

  • @thepatman100 "After thousands of years all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they were among the ancestors of the American Indians". I also see critics like to mis-quote things. It didn't say the "principal ancestors" it says "among the ancestors". Doesn't indicate they were the only one. Also, make sure to not take the first part of what I quoted out of context, not all were destroyed, but all who were mentioned in the book of mormon were destroyed except the Lamanites.

  • @thepatman100 Well you did say it was changed, but still, it saying "are the principal ancestors" doesn't mean they're the only one. Principalc means "highest in rank or importance", not neccesarily the only ones. No one ever said that prophets weren't allowed to speculate about things and have freedom of opinion. Joseph could very well have had the opinion all were descended of lamanites, but he did not claim that God said they were, for this was not something revealed by God yet.

  • The Bible teaches the following about our DNA: "It started with Adam & Eve~6000 yrs ago & evolved into the races of today at a much faster rate than possible thru classical evolutiion." And obviously, if we had Adam & Eve's DNA it would not match that of any of us. The DNA is obviously changing at a rapid rate. The early Church leaders taught that our genetics would improve or worsen depending on our righteousness (science has finally discovered this). This is an obvious truth.

  • @jzwillows If Indians being related to Israel is disproven by lack of DNA evidence, then the lack of DNA linking to Israel to Europe proves the lost tribes are extinct, thus the latter-day predictions concerning them are false; also the predictions that Ephraim would be many nations is obviously false, thus the Bible is false. However, since DNA manipulation disproves Adam & Eve it doesn't matter. The alternative is that these scriptures are true & the interpretation of DNA data isn't perfect.

  • As one who grew up this way, I believe that the highest "virtue" esteemed in the Church is the lack of doubtin church dogma every member seems to brag so much about. Servility and cowardice are the parents of ignorance, True Evil, whereas courage is the begining of virtue

  • While in Rome, Elder Ballard and the other Brethren met with members in the Rome Italy Stake center and with missionaries. They also visited the site selected for the Rome Italy Temple.

  • The LDS leaders enjoyed meeting with Archbishop Ettore Balestrero, the Under Secretary of State for the Vatican. "He was kind enough to take us out on the patio overlooking Rome and the Basilica," said Elder Ballard. "He was very appreciative of our Church's positive support of family values. We also had a meaningful meeting with Archbishop Brian Farrell who is the secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity."

  • The moon is real and can be proven as such. God is not real. There's no reason to believe in it. Why would smart people pretend that a magical invisible thing exist AND at the same time, they would deride astrology or palm reading or magic.

  • @cameraperson Because thousands, upon thousands, of witnesses recorded in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenents claim to have seen Jesus and/or God. In court, you only need a few witnesses and yet people still don't believe there is a God. Also, also over 100 million americans claim to have had a divine experience of some sort... how many claim there is no God? There are very few who claim to have had palm reading and astrology be true, which eliminates that idea.

  • @FighterOfWhatsRight

"thousands, upon thousands, of witnesses" and not a single one in modern times captured in HD? ha hha h ha h hah

  • @cameraperson Are the witnesses to the civil war captured on HD? Do you not believe in the civil war and that it occured? Or not necessarily the civil war, how about anything in history that was over 150 years ago? None of that history has people on HD and some only have accounts from witnesses: the Bible is an account from witnesses, as are all other scriptures.

  • @cameraperson Are you willing to call over 1 billion people in the world liars?(everyone who is a Christian) Are you willing to call all those thousands recorded in the Bible BOM and D&C liars? Probably 4 billion people in the world calim there is a God(if you include Islam, Christianity, etc) are you willing to call them liars? I do believe in a court, when you have say one testimony against something being true, but 10 for it being true, I think the ten win.

  • @FighterOfWhatsRight

Not liars, just fakers- because you have a gut feeling and no proof. No proof. Zero. Not a single verifiable shred of reliable evidence.

  • @cameraperson But is there evidence for no God? One can not prove the existence of a God, nor the nonexistence. Once again I'll bring up the court anology: If both sides can't produce real evidence, then most likely the one with more witnesses wins.

  • @FighterOfWhatsRight

Should I "believe in" all things that cant be proved NOR disproved? Dragons, cartoon characters, and astrology can not be disproved nor can they be proved to be real. Some people believe they ARE real. You believe your gods are real.

Why do you pick and choose which ones you give credibility? I'll answer that- so you dont feel "weird" telling others you do not believe. Well, I do not believe. Provide evidence or keep quiet.

  • @cameraperson Again, all those things only have a few people caliming it. Once again, the court analogy, this time with dragons, cartoons, and astrology. There are way more witnesses saying that those things don't exist, therefore those things lose in a court. the idea of a God has billions of witnesses, cartoons, astrology, dragons, etc do not.

  • @FighterOfWhatsRight

But here's what you're missing. Some folks claim god exists. Others say dragons exist. They both have the same amount of evidence. Who cares if one group is larger than the other? I'd rather hold a truth in my head rather than nonsense.

  • @cameraperson However, it is not unreasonable to believe someone created us, it's not as crazy-sounding as believing in dragons.

  • @FighterOfWhatsRight

How is it ANY more believable than dragons? I'm asking you- not being sarcastic. I dont think there's a single shred of evidence to suggest any creator! Just because you have a "gut feeling" that is satisfied by a "creator" concept, dosnt make it reasonable. Be specific about how Dragons are less plausible than Thor, Pele, Quetzalcoatl, the triple gods of christianity, astrology or other deities- or even characters from books.

  • @FighterOfWhatsRight

"There are way more witnesses saying that those things don't exist,"

Remember Lemmings? People believed they marched off cliffs into the sea in large groups. Worldwide, people believe this, but it is not true. In fact, it was a myth "proved" by a canadian tv crew when they threw these animals into the sea, off cliffs, and filmed it. They showed it as a fact, and everyone believed it, and still do. Are you going to side with "most people" or actual facts? I choose facts.

  • Why has the Lord revealed the exact location of areas around Israel in Jesus' day in the Old and New Testaments, but not in the BOM, if they are both inspired?

  • This is great information. Thanks for posting.

  • The Book of Mormon doesn't exclude other nations, but suggest other, beside those from Jerusalem, could have been led to the Americas: "... the Lord God hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheritance of my seed.... and also all those who should be led out of other countries by the hand of the Lord." 2 Nephi 1:5. When critics also say Israelite couldn't have made it to USA because they're Asian types.Didn't read Huge Nibley's The World of the Jaradites; There Were Jaradies?

  • Show me these horses your books talk about, as well as elephants, in the New World! You have "battles" of thousands and tens of thousands of people... using metal weapons... and NO EVIDENCE! Then, if this is (always illustrated as central america) a central american group, where does North Eastern America come into this picture?

  • We have a video on Horses and Elephants you may be interested in, and even those are outdated. I was just reading this morning of more recent finds of elephants and horses found in Pre-Columbian America. As time goes on, we find more and more evidence in behalf of The Book of Mormon.

  • fair.: Critics have to believe myth that there's no evidences, & it's as though it's become a creed. There can't be any because if there's at least 1, then there could be more! As evidences available to public continues to grow; critics closed minded & out right rejections of evidences makes them dishonest. Because after being shown, they will continue to claim there's still none. They're not also looking themselves, so I hardly think they will not find any, in contrast to those who do look.

  • fair.: Critics also don't seem to know or care that each others' arguments contradict each other. For examples: Josiah Priest's American Antiquities, 1833, is used to "proof" Joe knew about Egyptian writing systems found in the Americas; while others say "there's not evidences." Priest's book also mentions horse prints fossilized in stone, along with other animals & a man tracks too.

  • Those aren't the only complaints people here have, and they'll be happy to fill you in if you ask. Topping the list is the government's neglect of the town and its potential, part of a more general government disregard for the one-fifth of Israelis who are Arabs. Some might mention tensions between the Muslim majority and the one-third of the town's 65,000 people who are Christian. The two communities have sparred in the past, though today there is scant evidence of real conflict.

  • Explain to me how sculptures and etchings of elephants and war horses have been found?

  • By Expeditionaries and even still today. Reject this message as long as you want. Youre the ONLY one missing out.

  • @redlandz1977 show me the evidence of the parting of the red sea=show me the evidence of the writing on the wall-show me the evidence of Adam--there is none and yet you believe in it--what makes a mormon wrong for believing in what he does?

  • Just another fabricated story to try and cover up the last lie. It is finished.

  • Is there ANY evidence that all or some native americans are a a lost tribe of Israel?

I'm not asking if science has completely proved the Book of mormon wrong on this matter, I'm asking if there's any evidence for the claims made in the BOM.

  • @magnusjsolberg... Check out "TheBackyardProfesser" if you don't think you know the answer already. Maybe start your search at "mormonmessages".

  • are u mormon (for short)?

  • but likewise there will always be the sure and solid doctrines of the Restoration to cling to, which will provide the rock foundation upon which our testimonies may be built.

  • They exchange the absolute certainty of the Restoration for a doubt, and in that process they fall into the trap of losing faith in the many things they do know because of a few things they do not know. There will always be some seemingly intellectual crisis looming on the horizon as long as faith is required and our minds are finite,

  • Omg!! What a wonderful video this is!!

This answered a very important question that critics always point to to discredit the Church!!

Thank you for posting this video.

  • For two months, women from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had been working on a school book bag project. They came together from Hollister, Gilroy, Morgan Hill and South San Jose to finalize the project Sept. 26, according to Diana Dufur, Public Affairs Director for local LDS churches.

  • In a large auditorium in Morgan Hill decorated with rows of blue, tan, and green world globes, more than fifty women of all ages laughed and joked together in small groups as they made cutouts of cupcakes. They were coloring, cutting, laminating, and binding books for children to use to learn to count and to practice their ABC's.

  • The Kitsap County group requested winter hats and scarves for the homeless teenagers. Layla House is an orphanage in Ethiopia operated by Adoption Advocates International, a licensed Washington State agency. A North Kitsap family who recently adopted a child through Layla House brought the care facility's needs to the attention of the Relief Society.

  • "We need, if we want to be holy, to look inward within our hearts and not down on our neighbors," said John.

  • The second is becoming "holier than thou." John explained this as a mixture of holiness with pride. This way is never holy, John said.

The couple concluded their devotional speech by expressing that we need to worry more about becoming holy ourselves and not worrying about or judging others.

  • "Or two," added Susan.

There are two problems people may face when trying to become more holy, Susan explained.

The first is becoming sanctimonious. John explained this as a mixture of holiness with hypocrisy. He said that this is someone who pretends to be holy.

  • The divine love of God turns ordinary acts into extraordinary service. Divine love is the motive that transports simple words into sacred scripture. Divine love is the factor that transforms reluctant compliance with Gods commandments into blessed dedication and consecration.

  • What this means is that, regardless of our current state, there is hope for us. No matter our distress, no matter our sorrow, no matter our mistakes, our infinitely compassionate Heavenly Father desires that we draw near to Him so that He can draw near to us

  • He loves us because He is filled with an infinite measure of holy, pure, and indescribable love. We are important to God not because of our résumé but because we are His children. He loves every one of us, even those who are flawed, rejected, awkward, sorrowful, or broken. Gods love is so great that He loves even the proud, the selfish, the arrogant, and the wicked.

  • In these examples a person violating commandments asserts that parental love should override the commandments of divine law and the teachings of parents.

The next two examples show mortal confusion about the effect of Gods love.

  • Dude get a life, you spend way too much time on YouTube

  • is that your way of saying NO, I will NOT look at myself?

  • I begin with four examples which illustrate some mortal confusion between love and law. * A young adult in a cohabitation relationship tells grieving parents, If you really loved me, you would accept me and my partner just like you accept your married children. * A youth reacts to parental commands or pressure by declaring, If you really loved me, you wouldnt force me.

  • We can become more diligent and concerned at home as we are more faithful in learning, living, and loving the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • More Diligent and Concerned at Home

  • # When inspiration comes, do I close the manual and open their eyes and their ears and their hearts to the glory of God?

    # Do I invite them to do the work that God has for them to do?

    # Do I express so much confidence in them that they find the invitation hard to refuse?

    # Do I help them recognize promised blessings that come from living the doctrine I am teaching?

  • # As a teacher, do I view myself as a messenger from God?

    # Do I prepare and then teach in ways that can help save lives?

    # Do I focus on a key doctrine of the Restoration?

    # Can those I teach feel the love I have for them and for my Heavenly Father and the Savior?

  • These great teachers have inspired me to ask questions about my own teaching:

  • Elder Costa asked the congregation to follow the counsel of living prophets. "We learn from the scripture that the Lord will reveal to his prophets absolutely anything that he feels is necessary to communicate to us, his church. ... The Lord will reveal His will to us through his living prophets."

  • At the center of what Latter-day Saints believe, Elder Hales continued, is the Savior Jesus Christ. Prophets of all dispensations foretold of the coming of Jesus Christ.

"We must know and feel the spirit of the Atonement in our lives," he said. "We need to not only know it to be true, but we must feel it in our hearts."

  • Elder Hales began his remarks by speaking about President Monson. "I have known him many years," he said. "I have traveled with him throughout the world."

Elder Hales told the congregation that the words "caring and loving" describe who President Monson is as a prophet. "That is how he conducts his life," he said.

  • No matter the burdens we face in life as a consequence of natural conditions, the misconduct of others, or our own mistakes and shortcomings, we are all children of a loving Heavenly Father, who sent us to earth as part of His eternal plan for our growth and progress. Our unique individual experiences can help us prepare to return to Him.

  • Our own mistakes and shortcomings produce many of our problems and can place heavy burdens on our own shoulders. The most onerous burden we impose upon ourselves is the burden of sin. We have all known the remorse and pain which inevitably follow our failure to keep the commandments.

  • Other burdens are imposed on us by the misconduct of others. Abuse and addictions can make home anything but a heaven on earth for innocent family members. Sin, incorrect traditions, repression, and crime scatter burdened victims along the pathways of life. Even less-serious misdeeds such as gossip and unkindness can cause others genuine suffering.

  • 3,009 quilts for Chicagoland/LDS charities

  • NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- With an initial goal of "2009 Quilts in 2009," Chicagoland Relief Society sisters celebrated the completion of 3,009 quilts on Sept. 26 at the Naperville Illinois Stake Center.

  • During a dinner held before the General Relief Society broadcast, the quilting efforts of 700 sisters were displayed before being distributed to three charitable organizations.

  • Have patience as you are perfecting your ability to be led by the Spirit. By careful practice, through the application of correct principles, and by being sensitive to the feelings that come, you will gain spiritual guidance

  • An individual with foundation standards and an enduring commitment to obey them is not easily led astray. Someone who is increasingly repulsed by grievous sin and who exercises self-restraint outside human influence has character. Repentance will be more efficacious for such an individual. A feeling of remorse after a mistake is a fertile soil wherein repentance can flower.

  • "It gives you an appreciation for what they did," Bolton said. "This is easy on a bike, but think about it pushing a handcart, walking and malnourished in the winter."

  • Pure unadulterated F.A.I.R. Mormon spin on non-existent archeological data. They change the original Mormon stories and 'scriptures' to meet new non-mormon duscoveries. The more evidence found to disprove and discount Mormon lies and Joseph Smith the harder and louder F.A.I.R. becomes to explain it away.

  • you do NOT think there is ANY archeological data in the Americas?

to me that could be the ONLY reason you think what you say is true!

  • I would say that this matches up with the Bering Strait route. If you go Northeast or east from Mesopotamia, you could hit many mountain ranges. In fact, the whole course from Babylon to the Bering Strait would be nearly continuous mountains. Many possible spots for the "Mountain of the Lord" where Mahonri Moriancumr received instructions. Hugh Nibley said the Jaredites and East Asian civilizations like China were probably related, due to their whole government setup and customs.

  • Where did Jaredites come from? Jaredites went from Babel, where all post-flood nations were collected at one point, through a mountainous region, to a coast near more mountains. They built barges (wooden submarines with no navigation), so I can only suppose it was a very cold area with very little travel distance (no navigation = not good for a long journey).

  • Why are the Jaredites left out of the discussion? If they don't think the Lehites and Mulekites took up all of the American continent(s), even though it could be interpreted that way, then why take the "utter destruction" of the Jaredites literally? Ether doesn't record his own death or translation. Coriantumr and Ether are two possible Jaredite survivors, of many.

  • Joseph Smith lied about being married to a second wife to Emma and he lied about god talking to him. He's either crazy or he lies really well.

  • common sense people......there were tribes as described in the BOM, there were early NA tribes , but they are tribes very different from the traditional BOM description....true Christians do not need the BOM....the BOM is a lie thought up by Joseph Smith....

Sure. I'll start with my favorites.

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:

"And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it." (Amos 8:11-12)

  • You don't know one thing about DNA so don't preach that weak argument to me.

  • u r only fooling yourselfs there is no jewish dna in indians. your church may be true.but cum on now get real.

  • These guys are NOT making this stuff up! As a matter of FACT, they are PhD's and the data doesn't lie.

  • Well... One friend is a chinese... she has all her dinasty genealogy until NOAH, Chines people descende in a direct branch to NOAH... so did ISRAELITES. Hebrew people as we know now is a DNA mixture of just ONE of the israelites tribes with EUROPEANS trougout the centuries... son we can compare the chines DNA as a pure link to NOAH, so it is the LAMONITE DNA goes straight to NOAH, and WE have a evidence in this to the truth of the book of mormon.

  • Northern Europe was a lot less habitable back in the BC era, and the Middle East was a lot more habitable. The Ice Age hadn't fully worn off. Most of the names of the Norse deities trace back to ME (ex. Odin = Adonis = Adon = Adoni). The Runic and Phoenician alphabets are very similar if you compare styles. A Phoenician and Israelite tie went back to at least Solomon and Hiram. Assyrians drove many Northern tribes to the uninhabited northern countries.

  • Abraham's family came from Southeast Turkey (Asia Minor), and he migrated south to see the great high priest in Salem. I do agree that judging ancient "Hebrews" by modern ones is misleading (because history is blurred, and it's only one segment of a vast group of descendants of Heber), but I'd guess Abraham's DNA wouldn't be too far away from a modern European's, since he was born within the geographic bounds of a country that is currently bidding for EU membership - Turkey.

  • How did the plates get to NY then? Zelph must of walked a long way too.

  • Who's Zelph? I think you mean Nephi.

  • No, I mean Zelph, the white Lamanite and the Kirkland member accounts of Smith's revelation.

  • According to the Book of Moroni, he travelled here and there, some forty years with the finished record. Which lead him away from the Yukatan peninsula, all the while avoiding any of the fallen lamanites.

The Lord lead Moroni to the spot found in Modern day NY. The hill cumorah of the BoM was in Central America and NOT NY.

  • fudley, if you can spare some of your time you've been dedicating to anti-mormon literature, there is an interesting new theory that some mormon authors are talking about. I.e. Lehi and his colony living in a land that is located in modern day N. America. Hence, Zelph and Moroni wouldn't have to travel that far.

  • joe smith had no clue there would dna. I Think he really did see god. he got lost in woods got hungry found some mushrooms .and mormons where born.

  • Look at the blank hypnotic stare of the BofM apologists. This is an example of successful mind control/programming. Occam's razor! 2:28. We are trying to help you who don't know how duped your are!!!!

Listen to someone besides LDS cult leaders. Learn critical thinking skills, please!

  • lol, this is laughable. some people have a certain look, doesn't mean they're brainwashed

  • I listen to a lot of other people besides "LDS cult leaders." My plea for you: listen to someone other than anti-mormon, get rich quick, evangelical leaders. Learn honesty and repentance, please!

  • LOL LDS is using DNA?

Oh please say its true... these guys are retards.

  • why it's so surprising you? ans why do u think so? LDS church has always been pro-science and even okay with evolutionary biology.

  • lowhut

  • If this is true, then why did the mormons have to change the introduction to the BOM from saying " After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are the PRINCIPAL ANCESTORS OF THE AMERICAN INDIANS."

  • To make it more accurate

  • BH Roberts never lost is testimony. Critics attempt to prove this because of his "Studies of The Book of Mormon" where he played the devils advocate. What critics don't tend to read is his statement concerning this work. He said

  • "Let me say once and for all, so as to avoid what might otherwise call for repeated explanation, that what is herein set forth does not represent any conclusions of mine. This report [is] ... for the information of those who ought to know everything about it pro and con, as well that which has been produced against it as that which may be produced against it. I am taking the position that our faith is not only unshaken but

  • unshakeable in the Book of Mormon, and therefore we can look without fear upon all that can be said against it" (B. H. Roberts to the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve, March 1923)

He continued to bear witness of The Book of Mormon until the day he died.

It sounds like the only "duping" going on here is from the critics.

  • The case for the historicity of the Book of Mormon grows. This is no surprise to those of us who have already received the Lord's witness as to its truthfulness.

  • Please! If it were proven that Native Americans had Middle-eastern DNA and a city called Zarahemla is found, there is still so many problems with the text its self and its authors, the BofM would still be ruled a fake in a court of law. With due respect: A Mormons witness from God is no more accurate than that of believers in other religions who have witness from God that Mormonism is false. How arrogant and absurd to think that your feelings constitute proof of ancient American history.

  • DNA criticism of the BofM is based upon the false premise that it claims to be the record of Hebraic ancestors of all or nearly all the ancestors of modern Native Americans. A careful reading of the text proves otherwise. As we dont know the original name of a single Mesoamerican city from the relevant period it is no surprise that we cant identify Zarahemla by name yet. Where we can identify places by name we have tentatively located a BofM site, Nahom in Yemen. More discoveries will follow.

  • In relation to the spiritual witness of the truth, there are some things one must experience to understand. As for belief in such being the result of lack of critical thinking, it is important to note that in contrast to all other major denominations in the U.S. the more education a LDS has the more likely he/she is to be a committed member of the Church. I propose that those who are trained in and use critical thinking are just those who are most likely to accept the witness spoken of.

  • wow. you're intelligent

  • hahahaha. and you're dad is mickey mouse. why don't you follow your own advice and do some research.

  • you actually made me laugh! this is so untrue, it's not even funny! Where did you get your information?

  • Scientific law is so unstable. Not to long ago people thought that the earth was flat. Not to long ago people thought that the big bang was the only plausible explanation for the existence of the universe. Everything is a theory and nothing is fact. Don't rest your testimony on scientific facts or you might be left living on a flat earth.

  • We need that not only in English but also in different languages, for example German. How is able AND ready to translate?

  • Are you volunteering :)

  • Awesome video.

Why, oh why does it have to be the anti-mormon videos that get over 1,000,000 views?

  • In the 1833 Book of Commandments, vs. 4 and 5 are separated by a paragraph. So vs 5 is a new subject and it says "For verily this generation shall not all pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord". "An" house was built in that generation and dedicated by Joseph Smith. The Kirtland was dedicated in 1836.

  • In reference to Mat 24:34, it says "This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." He is referring to calamities that will happen before Christ comes again, most of which have not happened. So the Lord must have a different definition of generation that what we do. I have no problem with either one because I know they will both come to pass.

  • When Jesus said "this generation" in Mat 24:34, he said "the generation that sees these things" otherwise, he'd be a false prophet(he's not). Joseph Smiths false prophesy in D&C 84:5(temple built in western Missouri in "this" generation) is not the same(even though it references Mat24:34). If it meant the same thing, it still needs to be dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith as stated in D&C 84:3 but he's dead now, which makes this prophecy false. Face it, Mormonism is built on a false prophet.

  • Very interesting and enlightening.

  • gut,

    that is your comeback ??

sure but who has ever kept the commandments?

I for one keep the lords commandments.. the lord is not going to ask something of us that cant be done...

    I am sorry but

    your comments

are the most annoying and ridculous I have ever heard...

    im done anwsering your questions!

  • you just lied breaking a commandment bro, you do not keep the commandments even your Apostles would tell you know one has kept all the commandments if you want to go through them one at a time and you lie over and over thats cool but everyone breaks the commandments saying you dont proves you are Prideful and boastful things the Bible says not to do :)

  • gut on you

    for being so judgemental,

I never said anything about being perfect I said i DO KEEP AND HONOR THE LORDS COMMANMENTS!

NOW PLEASE STOP WITH YOUR ANNOYANCES

    TAHNK YOU

  • correction:

GUT, SHAME on you for being so judgemental and difficult .

  • Neal A. Maxwell wrote: "It is my opinion that all scriptures, including the Book of Mormon, will remain in the realm of faith. Science will not be able to prove or disprove holy writ. However, enough plausible evidence will come forth to prevent scoffers from having a field day, but not enough to remove the requirement of faith." (Precious Things, p. 4).

  • are you saved? if you die tomorrow where will you go? why ?

  • gut

you ask if I am saved?

Yes I am saved, I have Jesus in my life,

first thing, every day is pray and ask HIm to help me to do HIS will and last thing I do before going to bed is thank him for all the blessings and guidance..

I put the Savior first in my life, with Him I am every thing and

without HIM I am nothing !

  • where will you go if you die tomorrow ?

  • paradise.. in the presence of Jesus

  • and how do you know ? these are all serious questions im not just harassing you.

  • gutcheck,

people who have accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ and lived righteously ( doing the best they can to live as christ is) are assigned to a state of happiness known as paradise.

  • If you have Christ in your life you are drawn to live more righeously , you arent doing the best you can because the flesh is wicked, Christ causes the change in my life, my language cleans without me trying ,i share my faith without planning to, all because Christs blood saved me so not by works but by His grace I am saved.

  • then why did God say keep my commandments?

  • Christians strive to keep God's commandments out of love for what Christ has done by giving his FULL and FREE forgiveness. The false Jesus of Mormonism does NOT freely offer forgiveness. Ever hear of blood atonement?

  • luthern

Im lds and My ( so called) lds mormon Jesus certainly has forgiven me for my wrong doings...I do feel his Peace and love daily

  • That's awesome! I'm glad you feel Christ's influence man. That's truly remarkable. I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to be like him though

  • but if thy eye offend thee, pluck it out! not, "let it fall out". I really, really think effort is necessary, because we all have weaknesses. Maybe language for you isn't so hard, but if you got addicted to drugs, I think some effort on your part is required, then you can repent of your sings

  • If we die, we are assigned to either a spirit prison or paradise. It can sound harsh but it makes sense when you learn about it. Anyways, in paradise we rest from our troubles, the time comes again for our resurrection, then judgement day comes, and then we go to our assigned estate and glory

  • there is always bias in everything, only people Say that this or that is unbiased, as long as humans took part in the study , you have bias.

  • To critcs:

Know your DNA and how it works and If you have read the full entire account of

    The BOOK Of MORMON

    including 4th Nephi

    you would know,

It's literally impossible to prove the Book of Mormon false!

  • Its not even about if the stuff in the BoM actually happened, tho that is important, its about whether or not if JS was a true prophet and is it divinely inspired? Now evidence I have seen points to no. But it is odd that its archaeological and historical accuracy is being defended pretty well. Not straight up it happened, but something for believers. So if JS was not a prophet there we go, focus on that. Does FAIR have anything about that? Their site is weird and I can't find stuff.

  • polarisblu,

i have a few anwsers for you first of all "Absence of evidence is not, evidence of absence"

  • cont: a quote from an apostle of Jesus Christ said this Quote from Neal A. Maxwell wrote: "It is my opinion that all scriptures, including the Book of Mormon, will remain in the realm of faith.

Science will not be able to prove or disprove holy writ. However, enough plausible evidence will come forth to prevent scoffers from having a field day, but not enough to remove the requirement of faith."

    (Precious Things, p. 4). .

  • 3rd

While it is true there is some evidence on sacred records

God has set it up that they are not to be a source for science( which has yet to be perfected) to be the source to prove authenticity.

Sacred records: The Book of Mormon, dead sea scrolls & the Bible is a book of faith, If God proved without doubt every wit, then faith, a vital principle would lose its effect!

    I hope that helps : )

    blessings on you brother

  • Theres an old saying Never judge a book by Its Cover. I guarantee if persons would open the Book of Mormon w/o looking at the cover and testimonies and studied the meat within the text they would strengthen their understanding and relationship with our Lord, Savior and my FATHER Jesus Christ.

  • And I gurantee that if I read it fully I won't really feel inspired or anything because I won't know if its true or not. So, I see if it is divinely inspired by JS. I find when he is tested a lot of problems arise that lead me to believe he wasn't a true prophet. So I could read it, but it wouldn't help. Also, your FATHER Jesus Christ? Are u some splinter group Mormon or are did u mess up on that?

  • Well, I think if you read it, then you will slowly understand that it came from God. Arguments go on forever, but you can have no good argument until you open it up and try for a testimony. You can't get it until you try. God will never just give you a testimony, we must put effort

  • I have tried to read it. I looked up the passages some missonaries highlighted and I got a little bit thru the beginning. But, if I have the Bible and I believe it to be the word of God thru faith strengthened by facts and experience, I don't see why I need the BoM. Whats in it that helps me learn more about God?

  • You know there was an experience over 2000 years ago. Men came to Jesus of Nazareth whom I call the Christ and accused Him of Blasphemy and even earlier accused Him of performing miracles by the power of Satan which in their custom would surely not make since for no blessing comes on the Left hand. Study what Jesus teaches in Matthew 12, 13 and 15.

  • Never judge a book by it's cover. Jesus Christ taught I think it is Matthew 15 that no prophet is received in his own country. Well that would mean that Joseph Smith Junior should not be accepted either, which fulfills the prophesy of Joseph of Egypt who saved Jacob's house from starving. Jesus taught their shall not be starvation of bread alone, but the Word of God in the Last Days. Which one will be raised up like Moses to save Jacob again before the Coming of the great and terrible Day.

  • And my research is not anti mormon who just hate on mormon, but intelligent people asking serious questions. I have also looked at Stephen Robinson and see the Mormon intellectual side and the serious questions. I also checked out FAIR and the guys FAIR is against. My research has strengthened my faith as a Christian that I am not missing any truth, but I have the fullness of God's Word in my Bible. Its awesome how he can preserve His Word and challenge me to regain my fire for Him. God rox

  • Are you up to date informed of the information from anthropologists, sociologists. Latest information declares that people are mixed races and ethnicities? Regardless if you look white, brown, red or whatever everyone is mixed thus if you believe in a true Adam and Eve than this would not be hard to understand just why we all come from the same parents.

  • What exactly are you looking for? We have quite a few articles which I'm sure would help answer your questions. You may also want to try farms. byu. edu

  • Hm I guess Archaeological finds I have heard about and the DNA argument that u counter. Thnx I'll check out farms
