  • its true, consciousness just shifts on a energetic level...what a movie ...incredibly profound

  • @lerxt42 Suddenly I´ve heard a pipe melody outside. It´s common here the door to door sellers make themselves announce with a pipe melody. Se woke up and called me. She said: «son, please help the poor people, give them everything I´ve had». I said «sure mum». These were her last words. She died two days after. Since then I´ve remembering that soothing words «nothing will die». A parent´s death is the most hurtful experience we can ever have. After that no one can hurt you anymore.

  • @lerxt42 I hope this movie was so comforting to you as it was to me. I´ve seen it for the first time in eighty something. The final words and images lived ever since in my mind. Two years ago my mother died after some months of unbelievable pain that leaded us to the abyss of sadness. I remember as it was today, I was sitting in a chair, next to the window, and she was in bed, in silence, with her eyes closed.

  • Sometimes we just have to remember that nothing will die. Things pass, change and wither, but everything goes somewhere.

  • Years after seeing this film, when my father was dying I leaned over and whispered in his ear "nothing ever dies." I'm sure I'm not the only one to speak Tennyson's beautiful words (or a close approximation of them) to a dying loved one. Thanks for posting this.

  • The perfect ending of an astonishingly beautiful film. The words by Alfred Lord Tennyson and the Barber's Adagio for Strings and a crafted cinematography creates a melancholic yet peaceful feeling in us. This is one of the films that we have to save it in our most beautiful box ´cause we never know when we will need it. Sometimes someone has to remind us that nothing will die.

  • so glad i found this, its the most emotional of endings. I know the poem elaborates more but these words are perfect for the end

  • Nothing Will Die By Alfred Lord Tennyson When will the stream be aweary of flowing Under my eye? When will the wind be aweary of blowing Over the sky? When will the clouds be aweary of fleeting? When will the heart be aweary of beating? And nature die? Never, oh! never, nothing will die; The stream flows, The wind blows, The cloud fleets, The heart beats, Nothing will die.
  • Nothing will die; All things will change Thro' eternity. 'Tis the world's winter; Autumn and summer Are gone long ago; Earth is dry to the centre, But spring, a new comer, A spring rich and strange, Shall make the winds blow Round and round, Thro' and thro', Here and there, Till the air And the ground Shall be fill'd with life anew.
  • The world was never made;

    It will change, but it will not fade.

    So let the wind range;

    For even and morn

    Ever will be

    Thro' eternity.

    Nothing was born;

    Nothing will die;

    All things will change.

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.

    I would like to welcome all viewers to post their thoughts, feelings and observations on the cinematic and literary lyricism of this sequence.

  • Always makes me bawl my eyes out!

  • Elephant Man...

  • Watched the film recently - beautiful and deeply affecting.

  • One of the finest moments in cinema. I cannot fail to be moved every time i see this. if i've watched the entire film before it then i find myself drenched in tears.
