@voicemad He offered - and probably did - train Bocelli, yet he was a man who eschewed voice trainers. Some of his self training had disasterous results. He lost his voice in the late 60s. He regained it a few years later. Many times when he cancelled performances due to "illness" the real reason was stagefright. He could have been so much more.
@LouisMenchise Although he had fabulous head-production, I sometimes felt he pushed himself too much. His nerves were probably a part of the cause of him losing his voice. Self-training may also have contributed to his problems.
@TAMdeGledel Oh, you Frenchies.......you´re not worthy at least to talk about someone like Franco ! If the beginning recitativo part sounds bad, it's because he's not moving breath, merely producing sounds that please his ear. As Corelli aged that became a somewhat more frequent habit, but his voice was so glorious that most of us tend to forgive that short coming. His delivery of this work is unique, and we can be grateful for having this snapshot of him in this work.
He's, in my opinion, the best singer ever. Too bad he never learned french as it can be very irritating and tiresome to hear him sing in the language of Molière. Dommage.

He sang it great but seemed to kind of rush on the middle high notes of the aria. Also in the end he went ahead of the orchestra for the final note, he kind of went ahead of them on another occasion also. This wasnt to my liking, too much trying to make it his own or finish fast.

With all his mistakes of french and phrasing, he is an astonishing singer. Never again Corelli had truly a great voice. He casts a spell on, a sort of magic, a charm ·
Well ganafrancisco, don' t tell me these things. You know I am a purist for the french opera and I can understand, you.
of course he cannot match the voice of Georges Thill with this aria and even with Domingo. But I still think that he has a fabulous voice, singing with low larynx and voice in mascara. I am french born and i studied in a french Conservatoire. So I agree with you for some things
Corelli is in fine voice, here. Thrilling really, in a way that only a truly great voice can raise the hackles of your skin; some notes are so honest, so released and beautiful.
My god, he looks and sounds so much healthier and more engaged both with the music and the audience than he did in the '71 concerts. It's an astonishing difference.
my love corelli..a very special tenor will never come to the world again:)such great breath control..this kind of heart..this kind of feeling and this kind of voice..I love his voice..He was a great tenor..
He sings the aria with greatness, fabulous, unfortunately his french is not good.Sometines is better to do a good translation in our mother tongue , in his case in italian, beyond this, Bravìssimo !
Great! He does one of those breath control feats of his with a long hold on a note followed with another phrase on the same breath that would drive purists up a wall and his fans to distraction.

He could've been singing the theme to a cat food commercial and it still would have been wonderful.

I wonder if he forgot the words in the middle. He sang the end phrase of the last verse twice.

GAGLIARDELLI 4 years ago
hackerface 4 years ago
GAGLIARDELLI 4 years ago
GAGLIARDELLI 4 years ago
hackerface 4 years ago
GAGLIARDELLI 4 years ago
hackerface 4 years ago
GAGLIARDELLI 4 years ago
Sus palabras me alagan buen hombre ! Gracias
hackerface 4 years ago
Adios
hackerface 4 years ago

Bellissima aria. Davvero una piacevole sorpresa.

With all his mistakes of french and phrasing, he is an astonishing singer. Never again Corelli had truly a great voice. He casts a spell on, a sort of magic, a charm ·

Nice aria for a great interpretation. He loves to enlarge notes, but...isnt really nice?
ganafrancisco 4 years ago
Well ganafrancisco, don' t tell me these things. You know I am a purist for the french opera and I can understand, you.
of course he cannot match the voice of Georges Thill with this aria and even with Domingo. But I still think that he has a fabulous voice, singing with low larynx and voice in mascara. I am french born and i studied in a french Conservatoire. So I agree with you for some things
joanabanyeres 4 years ago
Corelli is in fine voice, here. Thrilling really, in a way that only a truly great voice can raise the hackles of your skin; some notes are so honest, so released and beautiful.
BillSalem 4 years ago 3
My god, he looks and sounds so much healthier and more engaged both with the music and the audience than he did in the '71 concerts. It's an astonishing difference.

He sings the aria with greatness, fabulous, unfortunately his french is not good.Sometines is better to do a good translation in our mother tongue , in his case in italian, beyond this, Bravìssimo !
jicontios 4 years ago
Great! He does one of those breath control feats of his with a long hold on a note followed with another phrase on the same breath that would drive purists up a wall and his fans to distraction.
