  • ............how is paverotti beter??

  • Comment removed

  • Horrible, totalmente fuera de estilo.

  • Unbelievable use of colors for the voice. What an artist and visceral singer!!!

  • il più grande di tutti!!!!!!!

  • O Superman!

  • @cuntylishus hahahahahahahahahahahaahaha...exactly!!!!!! X-D

  • Irregardless of those who think he is overrated....He had a powerful, masterful voice that few in his time could master...

  • Well if he is overrated. I'd still think he's fabulous when he's underrated

  • @voicemad His French wasn't up to that of many other tenors.

  • @LouisMenchise Corelli's French wasn't as good as many other tenors but many other tenors weren't as good as Corelli

  • @voicemad He offered - and probably did - train Bocelli, yet he was a man who eschewed voice trainers. Some of his self training had disasterous results. He lost his voice in the late 60s. He regained it a few years later. Many times when he cancelled performances due to "illness" the real reason was stagefright. He could have been so much more.

  • @LouisMenchise Although he had fabulous head-production, I sometimes felt he pushed himself too much. His nerves were probably a part of the cause of him losing his voice. Self-training may also have contributed to his problems.

  • It sang it in a lower key -- guy was overrated

  • @TAMdeGledel Oh, you Frenchies.......you´re not worthy at least to talk about someone like Franco ! I love your country and your food ....but , when it comes to singing you have got the right to remain silent ! Think of all the great singers from your country.......(great joke , ay?)! Especially as you are world famous for not being able to utter anything but your own language decently , so shut up and listen to the greatest Tenor-voice of all times !

    Grazie Franco

  • @andyglitter

  • @TAMdeGledel I´ll stick to english, so more people can follow.

I gladly apprecciate you knowing about Franco´s qualities, but imho,

any kind of critisism towards a voice like that should be written in a different style.

One is certainely allowed to mention that his french was not ..well..perfect, but that´s it.

To the tenors you mentioned : none of them reaches the "a"level of Corelli, delMonaco, Björling, Domingo or Luciano...be honest !

  • @andyglitter Yes, I agree his is voice fabulous. . He was intoxicating and of roust hard bronze voice. That he loved to just give of his best just hops off my computer. He was probably near Caruso in voice power and his love to communicate. Del Monaco had the power but was a rough dude when it came to interpreting. He had very little subtelty.

  • @voicemad I think Corelli had a warm vibrating voice as appose to the bronze like quality that more describes DelMonaco,by many. Each singer interprets roles in the best way they deem possible.Del Monaco was really an excellent interpreter for his unique dramatic style of singing.MDM had perfect diction& phrasing&did sing many times with nuance, using mezza voce in Forza, Otello,O Paradiso,Cielo e Mar,Flower song,Butterfly&Ballo&Manon. But MDM did reign supreme in the more dramatic roles.Continue

  • @voicemad Cont;like Tabarro,Forza, Otello,Pagliacci,Carmen&Aida (messico city)Great.Corelli&Del Monaco are 2 of my favorites&I like them only marginally over 1 another depending on the role.I saw Corelli in Trovatore, in early 1960s& he was really great.I saw Del Monaco in Otello concert& the voice was truly a phenomenon. He sounded like he had a built in amplifier& the voice was more focused than FCs.They were bothgreat&always had the ability to thrill the public, even in their declining years

  • Squillo!

  • I think some of you feel the beginning is less good because the later bits are so staggeringly fantastic or what?

  • If the beginning recitativo part sounds bad, it's because he's not moving breath, merely producing sounds that please his ear. As Corelli aged that became a somewhat more frequent habit, but his voice was so glorious that most of us tend to forgive that short coming. His delivery of this work is unique, and we can be grateful for having this snapshot of him in this work.

  • He's, in my opinion, the best singer ever. Too bad he never learned french as it can be very irritating and tiresome to hear him sing in the language of Molière. Dommage.

  • Le plus grand... The best !

     Saluti

  • when the orchestra can make the intro sound like a ship sailing over majestic waves, it's great.

  • the beginning is terrible. he sounds like an old man in the piano parts. the rest is good

  • Wonderful!!!! just by imitation, I meet a young tenor who will hang his video soon. He did a great progress just by imitating Corelli's technique. I am not sure people are aware of Franco Corelli's was a"fanatic of voice technique"; when he studied with Lauri-Volpi, he just confirmed what he was thinking and doing with his voice!!!

  • super

  • Questi miracoli nascono solo in Italia!

¡¡¡BRAVO POR SIEMPRE MAESTRO FRANCO CORELLI!!!

D'altra parte, come tu sai, eravamo gia' in piena era berlusconiana...ti sorprende?

Ciao.

    Francesco

  • El Tenor HERÓICO, es un *Perfecto Intermedio*, entre el Tenor Spinto y el Dramático, creo, que el Maestro FRANCO CORELLI, es el -Más Acabado Ejemplo-, tal vez, hasta Hoy, y por Mucho Tiempo Será El Tenor HERÓICO POR EXCELENCIA, Del Siglo.

¡¡¡BRAVO POR SIEMPRE MAESTRO FRANCO CORELLI!!!

  • altiburcio, how right you are! Hear Corelli and the rest don't matter. ;-)

  • dreszcze przechodzą

  • bo to Franuś :-)

  • Immortale Franco.

  • it's not good to listen to Corelli, it makes your standards go higher and then all other tenors sound OK at most!

  • Yes, his french is not good despite he sang Carmen 147 times and the year he sang it most was on 1953, at the beggining of his carrer. The other french opera he sang was Romeo and Julliet, he sang it 53 times, 20 times in year 1967. But...he had a wonderful voice either.

  • Immense.... Une voix d'une incomparable beauté.

  • Great Corelli as always. A blatant mistake on the words, mixing couplet one and two together...

  • Corelli.....the forgotten tenor, was likely the best you think this is good, listen to his work in Giordano's Andrea Chenier

  • Toccante...

  • his singing is really SUPERB!he must be an example of new era singers but ....... now you can hear singing no more!!!!!!!!

  • jorjikia:What era are you from?

  • hi tenorvoice!i'm 22 two:)i think u understand about my era!please tell me who do u think, sings well in nowadays?

  • He could've been singing the theme to a cat food commercial and it still would have been wonderful.

  • I wonder if he forgot the words in the middle. He sang the end phrase of the last verse twice.

  • kmillard:Who gives a fuck.What a great voice.

  • Cannot you give your opinion without using fowl words. It only reflects on you as a person.. Shame! !

  • Rhj90:Fuck you to:

  • Bellissima aria. Davvero una piacevole sorpresa.

  • With all his mistakes of french and phrasing, he is an astonishing singer. Never again Corelli had truly a great voice. He casts a spell on, a sort of magic, a charm ·

  • Nice aria for a great interpretation. He loves to enlarge notes, but...isnt really nice?

  • Well ganafrancisco, don' t tell me these things. You know I am a purist for the french opera and I can understand, you.

of course he cannot match the voice of Georges Thill with this aria and even with Domingo. But I still think that he has a fabulous voice, singing with low larynx and voice in mascara. I am french born and i studied in a french Conservatoire. So I agree with you for some things

  • Corelli is in fine voice, here. Thrilling really, in a way that only a truly great voice can raise the hackles of your skin; some notes are so honest, so released and beautiful.

  • My god, he looks and sounds so much healthier and more engaged both with the music and the audience than he did in the '71 concerts. It's an astonishing difference.

  • When Corelli sings an aria,,,it remains sung !!

  • I can only agree with matthewtilley's above comment:this is breathtaking. Grazie mille Oneguin.Your clips are absolutely wonderful!

  • my love corelli..a very special tenor will never come to the world again:)such great breath control..this kind of heart..this kind of feeling and this kind of voice..I love his voice..He was a great tenor..

  • Fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

  • this is breathtaking,thanks

  • mesmerizing, i originally thought this was the 1971 concert. is there more from this one pppleeeeaaasee.

  • He sings the aria with greatness, fabulous, unfortunately his french is not good.Sometines is better to do a good translation in our mother tongue , in his case in italian, beyond this, Bravìssimo !

  • Great! He does one of those breath control feats of his with a long hold on a note followed with another phrase on the same breath that would drive purists up a wall and his fans to distraction.

  • wow!! Oneguin you ROCK my friend!!! You have the best videos!!!

  • Simply marvellous. Many thanks Oneguin65..your clips are excellent.
