  • This video is old!

  • It makes sense in one way: most of the productivity software that comes with a Mac is included for free, but is a paid upgrade (or separate third party software) for Windows. Don't tell me about "Home Premium" and all that, for I consider those to be upgrades to Home Basic which contains the core functionality of Windows.

Of course, if you have Linux, you can just use MythTV. All is well.

  • Oh don't worry. I've been using Windows until November 2008... Apple's products really have a high quality. The fun thing though, with Macs, is they don't have any equivalent for Paint...

  • Is Front Row trying to be MCE?

    Because if it is...

  • iWork, iLife. I don't know about any program for Windows that is included that has a feature like Face recognition. And, I know, it sounds weird, iWork, I mean, there's always MS Office, but I prefer the simplicity of iWork, you really have to try it to see what I mean... A Mac comes with loads of software for pretty much everyone, in a really good quality, and it is really hard to compare with Windows equivalents...

  • I know it does sound bizarre, but oh so true.

If you where to pay for the same kind of software you get freely with any Mac, to get an equivalent for Windows, it would cost you a fortune...

  • Yes, but think about the software you get with the Mac.

I got loads of software used by pros, which would cost me a fortune if I decided to buy a Windows machine and all the software on the side. From that point of view, a Windows machine is more expensive. Not to talk about the aluminium casing and all, but that's just bling. Plus, a Macintosh computer can run all modern commercially available OS's there is legally. Can't do that with a PC can you? Get your spelling STRAIGHT.

  • quite, the opposite, Macs are ridiculously expensive. youre a mac fanboy. people hate fanboys

  • is that an Apple Display? because if it is that setup is a huge waste of money... b/c if you had that money to spend on a mac mini and a ACD, you could just got an imac for less

  • doesn't look like it

  • some people would prefer to separate machines

  • Can you use any speakers on the mac mini?

Sorry I am a bit dum with macs. But I am thinking of getting one :)

  • yes you can, im using them right now. Just plug them into the headphone hole in the back

  • lol if that other shit is some tv thing.. it sucks why is it so big then xD it's same size like the computer is. i have tv in my pc and it's just some little card inside the pc

  • it's so stupid to buy so small computer it's just wasting money. you still got those wires and shits there so it doesn't matter is it small because you can't carry it. only in laptops it's good that they are small because you carry them with you

  • You know, a Mac computer really only need three wires.

    One for the keyboard.

    One for the powersupply.

    And one for the screen.

If you have an iMac you only need two, one for the keyboard and one for the powersupply.

    Compare that to on a PC;

One for the keyboard, one for the mouse, one for the screen, one for the powersupply, that's 4, and then you might want speakers and microphone and all that fancy stuff. Not to mention, PC's are ridiculously expensive.

  • you don't need wires for keyboard and mouse if they are wireless.. btw hp and dell have some pc's like imac and there's not so much wires.. maybe just the power wire. and laptops don't need any wire....

  • Yeah, you're right. The iMac only needs one wire, the power cable. Silly me, forgot about wireless keyboards and mice.

And yes, a Laptop needs a powercord, if you care to use it a bit more than a few hours. I mean, you have to recharge the battery. Though, there is the OLPC..

  • mac mini ruleZZZZ

  • SO A MAC MINI, WORKS WITH ANY MONITOR?

  • Yes, A mac mini works with any DVI monitor.

  • cool, well thats a nice setup yah got brah.

  • Attention: This person used a special Front Row Hack.

  • how so? I can do this without hacking

  • How can you watch TV shows on your computer? Do they come from the internet or is your mac connected to a TV antenna somehow?

  • these tv shows come from the itunes store but you can get a "sold separately" adapter to watch live tv

  • Is that mac mini the £399 one ($599)?

  • why do u have 2 minis?

  • It could be the older and the newer versions of the mac mini.

  • i think it's a apple tv and a mac mini ;)

  • An Apple TV is alot thinner, those are definetly 2 mac mini's

  • No, Apple TV wasn't released in 2006.

  • what it really is two mac minis and the one that is on has a Apple TV hooked up on the bottom

  • what it really is two mac minis and the one that is on has a Apple TV hooked up on the bottom

  • Uh, no.

Apple TV didn't come out until 2007. This was uploaded in 2006. That thing on the bottom merely puts your USB ports on the front.

  • oops ur right apple tv is a separate box

srry but i didnt know that like a half a year ago

  • Apple's version does look a "bit" dull but it's still cool- specially the title menu (VIDEOS, MUSIC, PICTURES)... Windows-Media-Centre only looks a tiny bit better..

  • why your fan noisy as hell?

  • why do u have 2 mac mini . one is still enough for you . gie me the other one !!!! i am just jokin . but nice clip

  • I LOVE NICKSTARR! NOT!

  • can i connect an external hdd to a mini mac?

  • I sure think so. Why not? As long as it connects via USB or Firewire, you should have not problem hooking up an external hard drive to a mac mini.

  • uhmm, well, the thing is someone tell me that not all hdds are mac compatible, i think via usb they should work like any pendrive but im not sure cause i never had a mac

  • I just bought a Iomega Minimax external hdd (designed for mac mini) and the manual says that it should work to use the hdd on both pc´s and mac´s if the format is FAT32. The mac format (HFS i think) is not compatible with the windows NTFS though.

  • Yes you can. Either FireWire or USB.

  • There's no machine better than a mac :D

  • thnx 4 posting

  • WOAH Purchase any songs recently? lol

  • what's that white thing under your mac mini?

  • Its a external hub I think....belkin makes them along with a few other people.

  • k tnx

  • Yeah, fuckin windows sucks big time you morons. Its only better that only few and wise know about os x

  • Plus Front Row comes with the OS, it's not a whole new OS you have to go out and buy.

  • @getupkid76

You're right! Apple's concept rules, MS's "concept" is crap!

  • MS doesn't do anything.. They do crappy OSes.. Apple combine hardware and software.. it's a concept you stupid fuck.. not an OS :)

  • I don't understand the purpose of this video.

M$ came out with something that does this 4 years ago.

I've been doing similair since 1997 when MP3 became available.

  • BTW, can front row open a video file from CD or DVD? I didn't see that kind of option

  • Yes yidilks (Although I'm answering this late...) Front Row you simply go to the DVD logo and you can play anything. Front Row is amazing...

  • yes, you just insert one

  • I just signed up on YouTube to leave this comment. Now I get to see those 'sign in if you're over 18' clilps ;)
