I sang this song with a district choir and it was all girls. I just think this version sounds very harsh and slow. It sounds a lot better when it's a little faster and more upbeat when it comes into the faster part of the song. The voices are just so harsh over the music, and the notes are being held too long.
It's sounds pretty good though. We did it last year. I'm in select women's and the select women that sing with SATB came and sang with us and it was all girls. We got everyone standing and everything! It was amazing!!
we are singing this in my choir this year and we did it with only first second sopranos and first and second alots and it sounds just fine but yeah some people are really off other than that good job.
My high school choir just sang this, and we did it in a completely different style. Our teacher has been teaching choir and band for 17 years. He made all the notes clipped. These people did it legato. Some people's tone is really sticking out too. Blend is blech, but balance is ok. :|
I actually sang in this (2nd Tenor), so maybe I shouldn't be talking, but I was a little dissatisfied with the sopranos. None of my school sopranos got in and some of them I think deserved to be. :/
Plus you also have to consider that this is put together in about two days. Everyone is expected to know the music before the first of the two rehearsals, but not everyone does, and we didn't really have the opportunity to rehearse as a group until then.
Also... This is WAAAYYY too slow.

There are many places where they go flat. The women's section sounds very childish. I liked when we sang this song three years ago.

Not to mention the tempo is too slow and they really don't seem to be singing the lyrics sincerely.
