Hey, just wanted to let everyone know I've left Open Labs and started a new company called Music Computing. Check out the new gear at Music Computing or click the link below for videos. - Thanks, Victor Wong
i got this sample and everytime i chop it up and do the 16 pad tune change it plays faster the higher the tune. so if i convert to patch phrase instead of sliced samples will it fix this???
i have the MPC2500 and it is a great machine, but i also have an MPD24 and a DAW. The fact is that the MPD with a DAW can do anything that the MPC can do.... it might be kinda sad but i think software is the future..... although there will probs always be those who prefer to use the MPC out there. That being said, the MPC2500 is a great machine and its well worth gaining experience with
Yo kedd, Reason is a DAW software , meaning no, ity cannot be uploaded into an MPC. However, the MPC can be used as a midi controller for Reason. This kind of defeats the perpose of an MPC and its sampling capabilities.
The MPC2000 can do this but you would have to do it manually. the 2500 and 1000 provides this feature for you but if you wanted to achieve the same result from mpc2000xl all you have to do is chop it up in which it's called "zones" and manually lay each zone time corrected at SEQ tempo. This way no matter what tempo you use it will be "patch phrased". The cool thing about the 2500 and 1000 is the ability to apply 16 Level Tuning on the patch phrase which is dope. Again there is work arounds....
A way to do it this manually is to time stretch each sample on the 2000 using the BPM to match the tempo for each sample...so it won't be in realtime but you get the same result manually...or you could just loop start to end an entire sample without chopping it, then change the tune on that entire sound from the trims parameter screen until you match the BPM's and then do the chop into a program, you'll have the same result
you could also 16 Level tuning on the sample being played individually until you find the right pitch you want but that would be on each chopped sample while your chops are already layed out through out the Sequence correctly your pitch isn't so you have to find the right pitch for that BPM with the 16 level. I would go with the loop start to end parameter chop way.
Thankyou for the video but I have done everything you did in the video but my bpm is still not staying the same? Im using the 1000 with standard OS,please help cause if I could apply this it would open up my beats..Please help!!!!
do you know what the implemation of the word "beat" means?? a beat is any form of instrument played in a sequence no matter if its just drums or a whole arraingement of multiple instruments dick head...so yes i call it a BEAT
To lampie50: after you go to patch phrase and you finish that and then go to tune where u set the pads for sounds hit the window button then hit auto and then its going to set up a whole new program on your main screen now it will work on your keyboard and mpc. holla if you still have a problem....
Still don't get it.I'm using a mpc1000bk. whenever i use a patched phrase in combination with the 16 levels tune, i still have different speeds with all the different pitches.
Ok, Im not Brit-ish, but your channel is junky, colours are too bright, hard to read, couldnt get past your comment about most of the messed up people on the you-boob were Ameri-cans...If were so messed up, why are you on our wanker-ish site? I think you like to watch...makes you feel smug...
i have my mpc as master. as soon as sync mode is aktiv n i hit rec on my mpc, it starts to play but cubase will start recording few millisecs later. how can i get rid of that delay. thx 4 help
can u pitch shift to lower notes with the pads? the original sample is on the bottom left pad and as you go right it gets higher, but can u have the original sample/pitch on the top right for example and as u go down its gets lower in pitch
very nice video. unfortunately it's caused some confusion over on the MPC forums. this is not an example of "realtime time stretching." there is no timestretching going on in patched phrase, instead the audio is simply sliced and the slices are played back at slower/faster rates.
i really need help, when i try convert samples ive chopped up on my computer to my mpc2500 it transfers some files and not others why is this its doing my fucking head in
to "djspot" its easy to get good pitch shift in pro tools, theres a downloadable plugin for free off their website that wont fuck up the sound quality of the sample...
pathetic, too many steps compared to the modern way with software, i hope Ableton Live creates hardware to makje for anything software can not, like a DJ interface
the pads you can get better pads on a Korg PadKontrol., the rest is all software, the only justification for hands from there is to wank off since you could have no limits in software, ide get a MPC these days only if its sound is that good.
Man! Yeah.... I was asking "the big shots" on an mpcforum , and they didnt really know what to do. I was trying to use 16 levels without it changing the time or length of the sample but still changing pitch... and here we go! Nice video... I was wondering what Patch Phrase did...
you so how do you do it on the mpc 1000, i do it the same way you did but each time i hit the pads it goes faster or slower. post something plz thanks
why when i hit the AUTOCHOP ... it keeps chopping the sample into 20 reigons or more ? how do i fx this problem fam ?

I know your comment was along time ago
but do you know how they do it manually on the 2000.
do you just use the tune feature to do it?
or is there another way?
