i have a 96 chevy 2500 ext cab with long bed and it pulls ass and it sounds like a beast i have beat a grand am too and it didnt take much to beat it but my truck isnt stock either but i test drove a 99 grand am gt the other day and i do see what you mean about how it has power all it does is take off fast in my truck i can be doing 80 and i give it more gas and it pins me to the seat so i think im sticking with my chevy with 250,000 miles but going strong sucking up all the gas
its not all about torque for somthing heavier like a truck or older muscle yes you need alot more but you still need horsepower to for your vehicle will not accelerate as fast when it gets goin due to low hp

The best thing about a 4WD truck, with a turbo on it, is you can launch in 4WD, with such a massive boost. Either way my 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0 Duratech will smoke a 2003 Grand Am GT.... Pontiac isn't really all that fast, I believe they only make 175 HP.
I have raced a GT. My buddy has a black Grand Am GT with RAM AIR, its a 2003 model. My 1999 Taurus with the Duratec DOHC, V6 3.0 will smoke it. His car will top out out at like 140 most likely, but I've only ever seen him have it to 125, and my car will get to 110 ALOT faster then his will. I've beaten him several times. His car cost him around 10,900 mine cost me 2500 dollars, has over 160k miles on it. Mind you I own a Ford F550 Crewcab 08 with the F450 Bed, on it.
bro.. so i guess your telling me you can beat a mits eclipse 4 banger turbo? I have killed it on a 1/4 mile, But like any car with a turbo, it will catch up eventually. Now form a 30 mph drop yea i lose, but not by much. I'm not really saying you are bull shitting about you beating a GT.. but I really just dont see it unless he was babing it
no bullshit, my buddy has a stock Grand Am GT 3.4L RAM Air... Theres no turbo on it either. I know a guy with a Eclipse, its a 99 or so, no turbo, its pretty quick, never seen it do the 160 it registered on the dash, but it is quick. A Duratech engine is fast as shit for what it is, the SHO's are even faster, but yes I've beaten his Grand AM GT 0-100 MPH I won!

i got my GAGT for 1700 with 130k on it. i find it hard to believe a taurus all things equal could own a GAGT considering you have to kick the damn thing down everytime you hit a slight grade.
Nope. He lost. His car had 53k not 160k. My Taurus has 160k, or had I sold it for 2500. Still running great to. My buddy thinks his car is the fastest thing out there. Hes also an idiot, a chevy lover at that.
concidering I own both the grans am and the ford, Yes and no. The Ford is faster off the line because I can launch in 3rd gear. I have to slip the clutch pretty good to keep the tires from just smoking though. From a roll they are pretty even.

i'd be careful if you run into a boosted GAGT. i've seen timeslips of those things running bolt ons in the 11's. stock they aren't great.
