China did host a very successful Olympics and despite the controversies leading to before and during the Games, overall I was impressed by their dedication and anticipation towards this event.
Newscasters are saying there may never be a finer water sport facility ever built. The Olympics, unfortunately, do not make money, when you consider the added cost of infrastructure. With the inexpensive labor available in China, this facility still cost 200 million US. Outside of China, that cost would no doubt be closer to 400 million.
really? americans are the best?? i would like to see what the olympic will be like in the us in the feature... hahaha... the olympic in china... everyone like it so much and in the pass no country have ever spend that much money on the olympic than china... i can not say anything about the feature... but as for now the one in china broke all the recard... like the anound is spend in it and all the ppls that attent and all the space that took up and the fire work.
It freaks me out sometimes that Man (or women :) can think and build these types of things. Human race/mind IS incredible!! To invision this and build it! wow!
Those Australians are sooooo mart. hee hee. just had to go there.
I want a water cube! These olympics are going to be awesome!
Ahem!!! Harmony, people! HARMONY! One world one dream, one time for everyone to get along and stop saying hateful things to each other! Play nice, children!
You're half right. During the day time, it really looks like a sore thumb sticking out. Almost like a Mcdonalds playground right in the middle of the city.
But at night, it's the most beautiful thing! Works very well with the night scene.
are you retarded? The water cube is by far the state of the art pool stadium in the world, and it wasn't only built by the british but also by the Americans, Germans, and ofcourse the chinese. do u even know wat material the water cube is made off and how it saves more then 50 percent of its energy efficiency through their sophisticating architectural engineering.
no it was actually design by the chinese by the australian helped alot in the constuction of it, i watched da damn documentary on national geography channel.
actually as long as you can understand wat zenfaith is saying he or she is writing proper english. when da english writing was first introduced, there weren't n e standard for spelling words, as long as people understood and spell out of the written words easily then its an eligible english writing. Shakespeare has around dozens of different way to spell his name and his play book. we just end up standerising words for the simplicity. so zenfaith writing is correct.
the 'look of th games' includes all colors -- i don't think they're designing them separately for each venue. whether they're attractive or not is a matter of taste. i think i would have preferred mostly blue as well.
they need some more lightning in that place. it is very dark. i hope china has money to get some electricity in this building. no lighting looks pathetic and dead.
you're joking, of course. i assume by 'lightning' you mean 'lighting'. this building is water and light -- it uses light so creatively it stuns the visitor. it's been alight for months already. i see it every day and it's awesome.
the insinuation that china can't properly display this is simply an attempt to insult.
if you want to see a huge selection of pictures that support what is ay, visit my flickr page with photos of this and other venues. i have the same username there. you'll see that your comment was completely off target.
dude the water cube is one of the most efficient building in the world when it comes to using energy. the bubbles you see outside of the cube actually acts like a green house that traps the suns ray and that heat is converted to energy at the most effective way possible. they claimed that they will save around 60% of energy cost compare to wat it would normally take to run an Olympic size pool stadium. watch the national geography documentary abt the water cube to learn more dude.

You'll be able to see it in August when the Olympics start.
This architecture and the bird nest thing are really unorthodox design wise and fascinating. Trust China to build something completely batshit insane and cool. lol
i'm revisiting the watercube towards the end of february for the diving event... and yes, i'll hopefully be visiting more venues, the nat'l stadium most definitely on the list. keep an eye out for my videos ;)

the workers get less money, but you must remember, things here cost less, like geniune dvds, and a bowl of noodles. 2 dollars
anbadream 3 years ago
anbadream: You must over-paid. A bowl of noodles in China costs US$ 0.70.

FYI, a bowl of noodles does NOT cost US$0.70, or 2 dollars. Besides, have you even been to china?
