Still, thats a pricey mishap, better than a new one I suppose!!!,maybe a weight on the unattended tripod??,just more crap to carry though?, cheers Gregg.
@FishplateFilms I was in South Oz recently and it blew a gale every day. Not once did I walk away from the tripod without putting the camera on the ground first. Might rig up some of the car tool kit in a bag to hang on it.
To bad about your lens, hope it's repairable. The video is just awesome, love those old bulldogs. Wish we had those pulling trains over here in the U.S.
Sort of reminds me of the old Northern Pacific mainline that passes through my home town. Once in a while you get 2 train going by at the same time on the double track mainline.
@kizza1645 I'm going to be really kind and only say "you sure leave yourself open to some unkind answers". You obviously have an interest in things with motors. Well these fuckers have seriously big ones. Those orange coloured locos have 645 cubic inches....in each one of their turbo charged 16 cylinders.
I had to slow for the good line junction at Broady, but caught him again at McIntyre loop, more to & from to the home signals near West Footscray, where I got the run onto the main ahead of him, to cross 9191 at Bunbury St, then to Appleton Dock.
Nice catch ......... I was wondering who the 'gunzel' was doing the video there !!
I was driving 9306.
For your info : A78, P20, A81. 40 : 2,720t. 866m.
I was watching BM7 coming up behind me & then saw you & hoped to hell that
the over take would happen as it did.
After your location, they got away on us, but caught them in Wallan Loop later, to be overtaken yet again, then some serious parallel running down to Craigieburn, to-ing & fro-ing.
@stevo313 There was some conjecture as to whether or not that front A was on line. It seemed very quiet and there was no visible exhaust. You ran clean over the top of me at Craigieburn when I was driving home.......both of you.
@Rocketboy1950 Rod, believe me, ALL locos were online, no choice mate, was borderline FULL load.
Mind you, I did back to back rests & came back yesterday with locos reversed, 1 wagon less, but 100t MORE ..... was a bit slower to Dockerys Rd, but a much more pleasant trip back, on A81 ..... No.1 end leading & NOT the rough riding, back breaking, neck snapping piece of crap that 78 has become.
@stevo313 At that time we BOTH ran over the top of you, I was enjoying the parallel running, but A78, was so rough with vertical bounce, we thought we were airborne a few times !!
@Ella73TV2 Get real, I'm going RED. Happily for me I could afford the PMW-F3 but I couldn't justify it for the meagre income I make here. Further to that I have some concern about the effect of this new channel design that we are having shoved down our throats in March.
Thats murphy's law for you!!!,the car tools are a good idea, you have them in the car allready??

Is 9306 normally this big? Looks a healthy load to me.

@GeoffBlackmore Yes and as Steve says down below it was 100 tons heavier the next night.

Great timing with the overtake there. They ended up passing me at Donnybrook around 21:00 with BM7 just behind 9306, but the light was almost gone.

This is how Australia does it in 2012. Woo hoo. USA take note. Awesome video. Lucky the camera still worked after the heavy knock.

Parallel running is always a nice surprise when filming. Camera damage not such a nice surprise.
