Why not include the install time as it took 10 minutes to download the game and then you would have to wait another while until you play it. Whereas on XBL you downloaded the game in 7 minutes and could play the game there and then.

The result is that with adjusting for file size, xbl's download speeds are 30% faster than psn's IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE. That is ALL this test says. Yes the speeds will fluctuate to some extent with network traffic, but your personal connection to the server is what dictates ping, delay, or any other aspect of gameplay. This is just a download comparison.
you gotta compare the UPLOADING time, the time you take to interact with the server, when you download, you are not interacting with it, server is interacting with u... this test is a complete waste of time and testing... I just cant believe on how ppl think that this is an accurate test and that it "shows" that xbl is better than psn... Im just... I cant even... do you know what ping is? do you know what lag is? do you know what delays are? these are question you should ask yourself FIRST

So, here's how it goes with gfx: If you have the same tv, same system settings, same cable, on each system, and you're playing the same cross platform game, then yes, they will look identical. However, PS3 exclusives (GOW III, Uc2, MGS4, etc) can achieve much higher resolutions and detail, but take more time to develop.

Watch them both on a real 1080p TV with HDMI and optimize the display settings on both - the sheer detail in GOW III is incredible, you can literally notice the individual snowflakes on mount olympus, yet Gears 2 has less detail (by comparison), but better anti-aliasing... honestly, I prefer detailed, realistic textures over ultra round corners, but it's a matter of preference. Detail is the focus for PS3 games, and blu ray allows that...

Anyway, the PS3's RSX Cell Engine processor does indeed have 8 cores - 6 dedicated as SPUs for the games, 1 dedicated for the operating system, and 1 more dedicated as backup, which some games (uncharted 2 was the first) are now tapping into for more power. These are single threaded. You're getting mixed messages.

the psn is slow on some demos. i tried to download battlefield bad company 1 demo along with the blur multiplayer a while ago and killzone3. what happens is that it would be fast first but then just slow down and continue to slow down but if i go onto my brothers 360 and get the same demo, it would go at a decent rate without stopping and/or slowing down constantly
actually xbox live your paying for peer to peer hosting on games where as most games on ps3 a server hosted microsoft doesnt want you to know that the only difference is that microsoft has marginally better servers because whell its microsoft they invented windows and are a really rich company and crossgame voice chat
Hmm does this really prove anything? I wouldn't even consider this as a actual test. Think about it for a moment. What's the server load on the PSN server and on the Live server? Are they the same? Different? How is the server infrastructure? Is the demo being downloaded at a constant speed (no to little variations in speed)?
You have to take these into consideration before making a educated judgment.
I had a 360 for 4 years...until last week, i traded it for a ps3. both are great systems, PS3 is a nice system if u like home entertainment, like going on the internet (even tho sometimes its very slow and glitches)...i was very excited about the wifi headset until i tryed it, the sound is very unclear, so that dispointed me. I found the ps network horable, very slow and NOT user friendly like the xbox live, so if ur like me & u play ur gamez onine, BUY a xbox 360....i made a mistake trading.
i honestly think it depends because i have 2 xboxs and i downloaded 2 things at the same time 2gb and for sum reason it took 15 minutes extra for one of the xboxs so yeah it varies
If you downloaded one game or one large file a day on your Xbox as opposed to PSN with that extra 3 minutes, that is almost 20 hours in a year that you gain of time you would have been spending downloading. 20 hours might not seem like a lot, but even if you were only paying someone $3 an hour for a job, in 20 hours that pretty much pays for the 20 extra hours you just got. Then add all the game time, parties, video chat, in-game joining, and direct dashboard interaction with your friends.
I pay for Xbox Live because it has cross-gaming chat system and it's seamlessly intergrated into every aspect of the 360's user interface. Plus, it has a bigger and better community. Most of consoles online gaming in the world happens on Xbox Live. The frequent joy of voice communication (and sometimes trash talking) can be heard almost every game on Xbox Live. You don't get that social aspect on any other console.
ps3 was crap it took 10 min to download and however more to install to be able to play. when 7 min it was downloaded and ready to play XBOX 4 EVER btw to ps3 prob had bigger hd which measns faster dload bigger hd=faster dload times

One flaw I saw in this video is that they were made at different times. Later on in the day, the ionosphere is higher, thus making the connection slightly better as it gets higher, and I don't think xbox can download in the background or download while playing another demo . . .
Playstation network totally sucks!,..I have upgraded from 2mb to 10mb and now @ 20mb, my bro gets constant lag on cod and i can hardly get a game of fight night round 4, it ALWAYS crashes(both are wired), now, when i had my xbox360 (before RROD) i only had 2mb connection and it played all my online games FINE. I'm thinking of ditching my PS3 and going BACK to the 360. (oh and my bro 'tried' to make excuses for the online ps3 problems, he failed, basically, ps3 online..sucks!)

Installing PSn demos is part of the time it takes to be able to play it. If you download a demo on the xbox as soon as it is done you can play it. On the ps3 you have to wait until it installs so you have to include the install time as well. Because you cannot play the game until it installs, unlike the xbox where you can play it right away. SO you are wrong.
Atleast on my 360, if I download something, I don't have to wait 8 fuking hours for it to download and then another 4 hours for it to install the content
I've done this my self with Overlord and for some reason the Xbox took 10 mins longer then the PS3. I think the Xbox servers were taking a beating that day

So, here's how it goes with gfx: If you have the same tv, same system settings, same cable, on each system, and you're playing the same cross platform game, then yes, they will look identical. However, PS3 exclusives (GOW III, Uc2, MGS4, etc) can achieve much higher resolutions and detail, but take more time to develop.

Watch them both on a real 1080p TV with HDMI and optimize the display settings on both - the sheer detail in GOW III is incredible, you can literally notice the individual snowflakes on mount olympus, yet Gears 2 has less detail (by comparison), but better anti-aliasing... honestly, I prefer detailed, realistic textures over ultra round corners, but it's a matter of preference. Detail is the focus for PS3 games, and blu ray allows that...

Anyway, the PS3's RSX Cell Engine processor does indeed have 8 cores - 6 dedicated as SPUs for the games, 1 dedicated for the operating system, and 1 more dedicated as backup, which some games (uncharted 2 was the first) are now tapping into for more power. the psn is slow on some demos. i tried to download battlefield bad company 1 demo along with the blur multiplayer a while ago and killzone3. what happens is that it would be fast first but then just slow down and continue to slow down but if i go onto my brothers 360 and get the same demo, it would go at a decent rate without stopping and/or slowing down constantly

Hmm does this really prove anything? I wouldn't even consider this as a actual test. Think about it for a moment. What's the server load on the PSN server and on the Live server? Are they the same? Different? How is the server infrastructure? Is the demo being downloaded at a constant speed (no to little variations in speed)?
You have to take these into consideration before making a educated judgment.

I had a 360 for 4 years...until last week, i traded it for a ps3. both are great systems, PS3 is a nice system if u like home entertainment, like going on the internet (even tho sometimes its very slow and glitches)...i was very excited about the wifi headset until i tryed it, the sound is very unclear, so that dispointed me. I found the ps network horable, very slow and NOT user friendly like the xbox live, so if ur like me & u play ur gamez onine, BUY a xbox 360....i made a mistake trading.

If you downloaded one game or one large file a day on your Xbox as opposed to PSN with that extra 3 minutes, that is almost 20 hours in a year that you gain of time you would have been spending downloading. 20 hours might not seem like a lot, but even if you were only paying someone $3 an hour for a job, in 20 hours that pretty much pays for the 20 extra hours you just got. Then add all the game time, parties, video chat, in-game joining, and direct dashboard interaction with your friends.

I pay for Xbox Live because it has cross-gaming chat system and it's seamlessly intergrated into every aspect of the 360's user interface. Plus, it has a bigger and better community. Most of consoles online gaming in the world happens on Xbox Live. The frequent joy of voice communication (and sometimes trash talking) can be heard almost every game on Xbox Live. You don't get that social aspect on any other console.

One flaw I saw in this video is that they were made at different times. Later on in the day, the ionosphere is higher, thus making the connection slightly better as it gets higher, and I don't think xbox can download in the background or download while playing another demo . . .

Playstation network totally sucks!,..I have upgraded from 2mb to 10mb and now @ 20mb, my bro gets constant lag on cod and i can hardly get a game of fight night round 4, it ALWAYS crashes(both are wired), now, when i had my xbox360 (before RROD) i only had 2mb connection and it played all my online games FINE. I'm thinking of ditching my PS3 and going BACK to the 360. (oh and my bro 'tried' to make excuses for the online ps3 problems, he failed, basically, ps3 online..sucks!)

wait, what type of Internet do you use, for it to be this fast, jesus it takes me like 3 to 4 hours to do a download on the PSN and more on the 360 don't know why it takes longer on the 360 but yea

Installing PSn demos is part of the time it takes to be able to play it. If you download a demo on the xbox as soon as it is done you can play it. On the ps3 you have to wait until it installs so you have to include the install time as well. Because you cannot play the game until it installs, unlike the xbox where you can play it right away. SO you are wrong.

For XBL you download the demo in 7 minutes and that's it, you play it right away.
For PSN you gotta wait for it to download in 10 mins and then another 5-10 minutes for the demo to install before playing.
So XBL is easily worth the money

I've done this my self with Overlord and for some reason the Xbox took 10 mins longer then the PS3. I think the Xbox servers were taking a beating that day
