There are 2 key differences between writings on Napoleon and Jesus.
One is that the bible is the only source that confirms that Jesus even existed. While there are multiple sources for Napoleon. Also archaeological evidence prove that he existed. Does Jesus have a fleet of ships at the bottom of the ocean? Napoleon had a statue of himself made. How about Jesus?

God does not always test our faith. There are certain things he lets happen, because he will never give us more than we can handle. Because He came here, We truly live. How can someone recall EXACTLY what was said or done? May I also state that the writing of these people was translated into various languages. The Bible was actually begun writing before Jesus was born, that's why there are so many prochecies about Jesus, and the odds of them coming true are astronomical, but they did come true. You don't choose to believe in god. You believe in god because you think it exists. You perceive it to be the truth. I don't perceive christianity to be the truth. If I perceived it to be the truth I would accept it. Belief comes after recognizing something as true. Nobody believes in something that s/he recognizes to be false. And nobody gets to choose what to perceive as true.
Belief is not a matter of choice. It is a reaction to perception. And perception certainly isn't a matter of choice.

There are 2 key differences between writings on Napoleon and Jesus.
One is that the bible is the only source that confirms that Jesus even existed. While there are multiple sources for Napoleon. Also archaeological evidence prove that he existed. Does Jesus have a fleet of ships at the bottom of the ocean? Napoleon had a statue of himself made. How about Jesus?
Another significant difference is that nobody says Napoleon walked on water. If they did I'd be skeptical.

And the most intuitive explanation we naturally come up with is "creator". Day to day experience tells us complex things are created by an intelligent being like us. So every culture in history has created god in the image of man.
The truth is we simply don't know yet. It is too early to commit to a belief.

We know when to commit to a belief. Say u were to die tomorrow, if u don't have a saving realtionship with God, u will go to Hell, end of story. Also, if evolution is true, then we should be constantly becoming more supperior, but in reality we are decaying, the earth is falling apart, evolution states we get better, the opposite is true. All these theories and "evidence" are created by man, who fails because of sin. Charles Darwin disproved his theory, but people still believe it.

Earth's surface is habitable SOMETIMES. But it's not falling apart. Learn the earth's history.

No it doesn't. Better is a relative term. For example being 250lbs all muscle is good sometimes and sometimes it's not. While being strong has some advantages every pound of muscle burns 50 calorie a day just to sustain itself.
And evolution happens because of natural selection due to environmental pressure, which no longer affects us.

I'm done with you. You're never going to wake up. And by the way you're the one who has a belief. Evolution is not a belief. It is a knowledge. You either know it or you don't. Endogenous retroviral infections prove evolution beyond all reasonable doubt and you don't even know what it is.
I don't know whether there is a god or not. But if there is one, it doesn't affect the fact that evolution is true.

I want eternal life to be true just as much as anyone. But if wishful thinking worked I'd be wishing santa to be real too.
The difference between you and I is our priorities. We both value comfort and truth. But in my case truth comes ahead of comfort. And in your case comfort comes before truth.
So if a truth makes you uncomfortable, you'll make yourself believe what is comfortable.
It's just that change in priority that made me an atheist. I used to believe in afterlife just like you.

Every religious person says that. Hindus, Muslims, Chrsitians, Jews, Scientologists etc. So when a person says "I know the truth", and can't back it up with reason, logic and evidence, I know he doesn't know the truth. He just believes what he likes.

God does not always test our faith. There are certain things he lets happen, because he will never give us more than we can handle. Because He came here, We truly live. How can you infer that with such a general statement that "christians who talk like you always have bad lives?" It's just not right to criticize someone that you have probably never met.

May I state that the Bible was not written by one person. Multiple people contributed. May I also state that it was written some time after Jesus died. How can someone recall EXACTLY what was said or done? May I also state that the writing of these people was translated into various languages. And don't we all know that a language can't be translated into another EXACTLY as it was? And didn't people of nobility, such as King James, change the Bible to his own needs? Give me answers, if you will.

Yes the bible was writeen by multiple people, but they all share the same thoughts. The Bible was actually begun writing before Jesus was born, that's why there are so many prochecies about Jesus, and the odds of them coming true are astronomical, but they did come true. It's true that they can't all be translated the same, because of language barriers, but except for the's and and's or a small phrase, describing the people, they are the same. I can't sincerely call on Jesus because I don't believe that he is god. It would be like praying to santa claus for me. I can't take it seriously even if I wanted to. Besides like I said belief is not a matter of choice. You can prove me wrong if you can do one of the following for a day.
1.) make yourself believe that there is a diamond the size of a basketball burried in your backyard.
2.) make yourself believe that Islam is the true religion.

You don't choose to believe in god. You believe in god because you think it exists. You perceive it to be the truth. I don't perceive christianity to be the truth. If I perceived it to be the truth I would accept it. Belief comes after recognizing something as true. Nobody believes in something that s/he recognizes to be false. And nobody gets to choose what to perceive as true.
Belief is not a matter of choice. It is a reaction to perception. And perception certainly isn't a matter of choice.

You came to be a christian because of the following chain of events.
1.)Perceive Christianity to represent the truth
2.)Believe in Christianity
3.)Choose to follow christianity
Here is my chain of events.
1.)Perceive Christianity to be false.
2.)Disbelieve in Christianity.
3.)Choose not to follow Christianity.
Number three is a choice. But no sane person who believes in christianity chooses not to follow it. And no idiot who doesn't believe in christianity decide to follow Jesus.

Many people don't believe in things they perceive to be true...magic for example-its a trick of the eye that cannot be proved false...its perceived as true but we don't believe in it.
Belief isn't just a reaction to a perception, although I agree that in some cases it is. Belief in Christianity is choosing to follow in the things you cannot perceive. You perceive the actions and guidelines set down before you and perceive those to be true, and CHOOSE to believe in where they came from.

People who see magic tricks and believe the magician's words that his trick is real magic perceive the trick as true magic.
People who see the same trick but believe that the trick is an illusion don't perceive that the trick is real.
Here we have a clear cut case. People who perceive that the trick is REAL, BELIEVE it's magic. People who perceive that it's fake, believe it's an illusion.

Just substitute the word REAL for TRUE in that statement. They mean the same thing in this case.
Nobody who sees a magician cut a person in half PERCEIVES that that it is REAL(TRUE). To assert that people in general see magic tricks as real is dishonest.
People who see magic tricks invariably think that it's an illusion. Not real. Therefore they don't believe.

First of all though, REAL and TRUE can never be interchanged. What is true is not always real. id est, I have faith in christianity, but is my faith real?

you said belief comes from recognizing something as true. My point is that many things people see as being true and still don't believe it. Believing is a choice-as you can choose not to believe in something even if it appears true to you. How? You choose to perceive it as false. You can control how you view things, or at least after you've seen/heard it can dismiss it as false if you so choose (quod erat demonstrandum, magic is an illusion)
