The stories are quite dramatic. If I're younger and healthier, I'd go as a volunteer myself. I love them. I don't want them to suffer like that. I'm worried about their future. I'd pray to all people of good will to offer them more effective assistance for their brighter future, that will reflect to us as well. Good deeds endure forever. What we give them today, we'll get it back tomorrow. We help them is equal to we help ourselves. I pray for them to Heaven above, that It'll not forget them.
Every summer for the last about 6 years or so, christian people from Faroe Islands have been in Ukraine, to give the homeless children a summer of fun and hope. :) And they teach them about Jesus christ, how he died for our sins. :) It isn´t easy to give everyone a roof over their heads, but they can give them hope and try to help them, to find a place to stay. It´s so sad to see, what they are going thrue. :(

In Ukrainian Kyiv (or Kiev) is Київ. In English I think it used to be Kiev but is now Kyiv. I speak Ukrainian and I think Kyiv sounds more like Київ, but not perfect. Anyways, have a good one :)
Sorry to disturb, but since 6 years it is Kyiv. This is due to pronunciation of the city name in Ukrainian language. People who live not in one of ex-soviet republics will not understand this, cos it is not understandable :). Example-I was born as Andrej, but when Ukraine became "independent" country I became Andrii without any one asking me, they just changed my name in passport ;).
Everywhere in the world are street children not only in Ukraine. They are in Russia of course but in orher countries too. Whats about Germany, France, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Canada, England and thats not all. They are everywhere, in every country and etc.

I live with my family in a neighborhood that many people reffer to as "ghetto" and there aren't any little kids sleeping in sewers and beggin for money. It's illegal in the US for a child or anyone under the age 18 to be homeless. There are services that help children who lost their parents and they also help children who have abusive parents those kids end up with foster parents.

I'm from Ukraine and I want to tell you what impressed me the most in our country.
I was raised in a full family(not rich) but in my yard (yard of the 5-stock building, "khruschovka") are many young people from not full families,some of them are my friends. They can't understand WHY I've got a higher education(I've got free of charge,on state's order). They think about higher education as about whim and obviously useless thing. That's depressed.
Raising children was not the job of the state in the USSR, parents had responsibilities like anywhere else. The USSR had orphanages ect where parentless children were raised, like anywhere else and children were not allowed to live on the streets if it could be prevented.

Personaly i live in Stockholm and i wont deny that we got some homless kids over here aswell. But our "homeless" children lives with fosterfamilies and not on the streets like in eastern europe! We got something called social welfare service! Most of the ppl who lives on the streets in my country are illegal immegrants! or ppl who has chosen the drugs instead of getting help from the socialservice! But those ppl doesnt sleep on the streets most of them usauly sleep at some hostel for bums!

I looked into adoption in Eastern Europe. As a single male, I was told I might as well just quit looking because they don't want me. I find it so hard to believe that it's worse to have me (a stable, wealthy single guy) than living on the street.
There ARE a few men who have been successful, but they get the bottom of the barrel and almost always are forced to take kids with serious health, drug and violence issues.
In sweden none children is living on the streets like this. Same in Norway, also Denmark and Finland. Here the socialservice take care of that. So not every major city in Europe looks like this.

I grew up in Kiev 1981-1995...then U.S. We struggled financially, but my parents always managed to provide us(i have 4 more siblings) with a living space (3 bedroom apartment)and food, and I always wished that I could have more-better clothes, any food, go out/restaurants, etc...but I never realised how bad it was for homeless children. We need system which could benefit the children directly all parts of the world...they are innocent, for a better world we must start with children!
You'll never understand street life, you have to live it. I was about the same age doing same thing when I moved here. Streets of Ukraine is no joke, even toughest streets of America still can't be compared. I don't think the better will come any time soon. If you reading this and want to help the best way to help is to take those children out of Ukraine.

THIS NARRATOR IS AN ASSHOLE. They should've kept to the non-narrator style, as in Children Underground, so as to properly show what the kids actually feel, not what this guy with the most irritating voice and slow pace i've ever heard thinks about it. Seriously, he takes a minute to deliver a sentence..

In Ukrainian Kyiv (or Kiev) is Київ. In English I think it used to be Kiev but is now Kyiv. I speak Ukrainian and I think Kyiv sounds more like Київ, but not perfect. Anyways, have a good one :)

Sorry to disturb, but since 6 years it is Kyiv. This is due to pronunciation of the city name in Ukrainian language. People who live not in one of ex-soviet republics will not understand this, cos it is not understandable :). Example-I was born as Andrej, but when Ukraine became "independent" country I became Andrii without any one asking me, they just changed my name in passport ;).

Everywhere in the world are street children not only in Ukraine. They are in Russia of course but in orher countries too. Whats about Germany, France, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Canada, England and thats not all. They are everywhere, in every country and etc.

@truecrime80 Yes there are maybe not so much in Canada but in France yes, also in Italy, you may not think so because these countries are supposed to be so sophisticated but they really are not. Italy is full of drug abusers, and france is full of alchoholics. So there you go every country has street children even France, Italy, and Canada!

Homeless children do not exists in the UK because it is illegal for them to be.Any children who claim to be homeless are just fascinated with the bohemian squatter lifestyle,
I know as i work in the industry.
I suggest other countries take example and stop spending so much money on weapons and invest in programs that deal with the problem like the UK has in the past ten years.

@michekk Stockholm does have street kids. I used to live up there. The problem is Sweden's effed up liberal govt allows in Muslims from the Middle East. Majority live off the welfare system and their kids go selling up and down the street.

You are absolutly right, but unlike USA, Germany, France, and also Brazil where the most people live with a bank account above the 100million, Ukraine is one of the most pore country in Europe, maybe in the world. Dont get me wrong, every child needs a warm home and save inviroment. But these one's needs special care. And for every people in the world: OPEN YOUR EYES!!!

The services are there to get them into a home, shelter or social care

@michalkovach No there are no street children in the US. I have lived here for most of my life. I live with my family in a neighborhood that many people reffer to as "ghetto" and there aren't any little kids sleeping in sewers and beggin for money. It's illegal in the US for a child or anyone under the age 18 to be homeless. There are services that help children who lost their parents and they also help children who have abusive parents those kids end up with foster parents.

@PrincessYeimiNohemi It may be illegal for children to live on the street in the U.S. But that does not stop it from happening. In my home area there are over 800 documented homeless teens. I volunteer at a shelter for homeless teens and know this to be a fact. They are out there. In the U.S. also. We are a nonprofit agency and have only 13 beds for more than 800 homeless teens. You may not know they are homeless because they blend in well with other teens. But they are in the U.S. too!

I'm just saying that there are no little kids who are about 5 or seven years old in the US begging for money in the streets or having sex for money. I know that in Hollywood and Venice Beach there are tons of young homeless people most of them are 18 and older but some are about 17 because I see them there but there are no little children!

You are wrong!! I was in Ternopil last summer and it DEFINITELY is still like that!! Through an interpreter I spoke with a young girl staying at the missions base that had been on the street most of her life.

MY SON WAS BORN IN UKRAINE, MY WIFE IS FROM UKRAINE, I HAVE LIVED 14 TIMES IN UKRAINE...
The fact is this is 100% true, what is sad, is very few Ukraine people do anything to help their own street children, so American's, and some Europeans must pick up the slack, thank God someone is!
While the RICH "Banditio's" burn money at their parties for fun (yes actualy money), their own future generation is dying all around them. God help Ukraine, they don't seem to care, except for themselves!

LOL no this video is made by people who care. It was in Ukraine where I met the first street children I work with. They were living in sewers. The problem is wealthy people lack altruism and do not want to acknowledge problems of the poor. This can be said for the rich of ANY nation.

I'm from Ukraine and I want to tell you what impressed me the most in our country.
I was raised in a full family(not rich) but in my yard (yard of the 5-stock building, "khruschovka") are many young people from not full families,some of them are my friends. They can't understand WHY I've got a higher education(I've got free of charge,on state's order). They think about higher education as about whim and obviously useless thing. That's depressed.

Raising children was not the job of the state in the USSR, parents had responsibilities like anywhere else. The USSR had orphanages ect where parentless children were raised, like anywhere else and children were not allowed to live on the streets if it could be prevented.

Man this is really sad. My brother in-law is from Ukraine. He told me about the situation there but I thought he was just exagerating. He is the only son and furtunate to have parents that are sucessful. I wanna go visit there someday and make some donation.

Personaly i live in Stockholm and i wont deny that we got some homless kids over here aswell. But our "homeless" children lives with fosterfamilies and not on the streets like in eastern europe! We got something called social welfare service! Most of the ppl who lives on the streets in my country are illegal immegrants! or ppl who has chosen the drugs instead of getting help from the socialservice! But those ppl doesnt sleep on the streets most of them usauly sleep at some hostel for bums!

After seeing some things like this... it's heartbreaking.
I looked into adoption in Eastern Europe. As a single male, I was told I might as well just quit looking because they don't want me. I find it so hard to believe that it's worse to have me (a stable, wealthy single guy) than living on the street.
There ARE a few men who have been successful, but they get the bottom of the barrel and almost always are forced to take kids with serious health, drug and violence issues.

In sweden none children is living on the streets like this. Same in Norway, also Denmark and Finland. Here the socialservice take care of that. So not every major city in Europe looks like this.

I grew up in Kiev 1981-1995...then U.S. We struggled financially, but my parents always managed to provide us(i have 4 more siblings) with a living space (3 bedroom apartment)and food, and I always wished that I could have more-better clothes, any food, go out/restaurants, etc...but I never realised how bad it was for homeless children. We need system which could benefit the children directly all parts of the world...they are innocent, for a better world we must start with children!

You'll never understand street life, you have to live it. I was about the same age doing same thing when I moved here. Streets of Ukraine is no joke, even toughest streets of America still can't be compared. I don't think the better will come any time soon. If you reading this and want to help the best way to help is to take those children out of Ukraine.
