  • @KelliLovesYou21

Nope.... oldest operating rollercoaster is Scenic Railway in Luna Park, Melbourne Australia. TPR have a ride video of it.

  • @colliric This coaster opened in 1902 & Scenic Railway at Luna Park in Melbourne, Australia opened in 1912. Do the math... ;D

  • Happy Birthday LTD!

  • this f*cking sucks

  • OMG!!! I don't think I could handle the intensity... :/

  • Umm...what was that? Guess back in the day, this was a thrill (and probably is for those ove r 90 years old). Nowadays, we could probably outrun the coaster.

  • @nobodybutme1000 When this one came out it was considered one of the big coasters at the time.

  • haha, ive lived in altoona for 19 years and never once rode that piece of shit,, fuck altoonas parks

  • This think looks as raggedy as the rest of the park. I think I'll stick with your thrill coaster vids. lol

  • I was raised in that town and even worked as a ride operator at that park when I was 14 & 15 (1994/5)! We used to always joke that if that ride was ever operational, none of us wanted to be the controller because we knew it was going to fall apart! But I'm glad to see funds were raised to restore yet another piece of history in Altoona, PA.

  • Coaster companies should start making side-friction coasters again. Of course, not all side -friction coasters were as tame as this one; the Giant Coaster at Crystal Beach had large drops, as did the Runaway Coaster at Folkestone.

  • just watching it hit each dip hurts my testicles

  • How cool.! It's

The oldest not the best but the oldest

  • this thing sucks

  • the thrill of riding on an old roller coaster like that is wondering if you will make it back

  • looks like a death trap lol

  • I'm still surprised that thing can stay together.

  • Hey Coasterforce. Have you done a POV of Invertigo, or The Crypt at Kings Island? If you haven't you should! And how old do you have to be to work for coasterforce?

  • @anostrichkilledyou Just go to our website & register. It's simple & it's free.

  • i dont like this coaster but its cool that its still running

  • kiddie ride much???

  • this is around altoona Pennslyvania

  • las montañas rusas no eran nada emocionante -.-

  • Didnt this open at Cedar Point?

  • @MrCheezyWeezy No. You're probably think of Blue Streak, which is a totally different type of coaster but has the same cupola at the top of the lift hill.

  • Comment removed

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom nevermind the one im thinking of opened in 1908 as dip the dips then changed to leap the dips in 1912 my bad XD

  • Lakemont is like a mile away from my house. I've rode this a million times! :D

  • Ghetttttttttttttooooooooooooooo! LMAO

  • It's so wierd to look at an all-wooden TRACK! I don't think I'd get a huge thrill, but I wouldn't mind riding this one to feel it's leaping first-hand. It's ability to leap is somewhat unusual these days, as all coasters have added an additional set of rollers UNDER the track starting with the Jack Rabbit in 1920, though these second set of rollers enable those sudden drops that we all love!

  • @ItsNoelMulkey Well, where would it go if the breaks failed? It only goes peaks at 10MPH thus the lift hill would be more than sufficient to stop it. And even if it came to a screeching halt, I'm sure my body could withstand the impact. The danger would be if something happened while you were higher up. It's wimpy 41' seems so tame by today's standards that it's so easy to forget that it's still high enough for serious injury or fatality by fall.

  • Boring :D

  • Awh! It's so cute(:

  • This is considered on RCT3 as a Side Friction Coaster.

  • Wow! For 109 years old, that thing looks pretty sweet :)

  • My mom gets motion sickness on rides, she's affected by the wind for some reason. :/

She can't even ride a Carosel, BUT for some unknown reason, she LOVES this roller coaster. It's the only one I've ever seen her on...

So, no matter how "lame" it is, I'm thankful for it, because of it I got to share an amazing experience with my mother. <3

  • thats an ancient anti rollback system

  • That doesn't look to safe to be honest. I think that's the thrill of it.. "Will this thing collapse on me?"

  • @ThreatofDoom My mom almost had a heart attack when my dad and I rode this. The whole ride shakes like mad when you watch it from the ground and it jumps off the track at parts (it literally leaps the dips)

  • @ThreatofDoom lol

You said it perfectly pretty much.

It does not look safe at all, thats the scariest part of it I think too.

  • seems to be lame for us, but for people in those times it might have been the most exciting experience in their life ^^

  • baby coaster

  • the most intense just has to be the teacups

  • 12 immigrant Chinese laborers died during its construction.

  • Mr. or Mrs. Coasterforce, what is the most intense coaster you have ever ridden?

  • @alteregoash There's no Mr. or Mrs. Coasterforce, but the most intense coaster we like is Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce in Bristol, Connecticut.

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom I'm really surprised it's not the Voyage at Holiday World!

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom im from Connecticut and i go to Lake Compounce everyyear and Bouilder dash is my favorite ride. keep up the good work CF ur videos are great!

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom I Live there And thats mine too

  • this park is so sad we went and we got on the skyliner we stayed on the ride we couldve stayed on theta ride all day if we wanted 2

  • i road this and it needs seatbelts lol

  • people say to watch in HQ but im onyl finding 480P whioch still kinda sucks

  • It doesn't look safe even though it might be lols

  • People who speak badly about Dips have obviously never rode it. Not only is it one of the most interactive pieces of history still around, it's also a hell of a lot of fun. (:

  • Wow! Built in 1902 and it's still faster than the download time on my computer.

  • Looks better then togo coasters!

  • How rough is this ride?

  • @GodzillaKillFTW Not rough at all.

  • FACT: There are no wheels at the bottom of the car to keep it from being airborne.

  • @LOLOKAYDUDE Notice it doesn't need them, since it doesn't go airborne. :D

  • @IhaveSonar True, but still I'd be scared as heck to ride that xD

  • that looks really boring

  • @MISTERSORENTH It's fun

  • what was the guy in the green shirt doing at the end of the vid?

  • @julixjt He was engaging the brake to stop the coaster.

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom ooh, thanks!

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom its a manual brake system!? sounds dangerous...

  • i guess back in the day this ride was super scary

  • Pefect for falling asleep.

  • I thought the oldest operating coaster was the big dipper at luna park in melbourne Australia

  • @AllegroCrab The Big Dipper opened in 1923 & closed in 1989. The Scenic Railway at Luna Park in Melbourne, Australia opened in 1912 & is still operating, but this one opened in 1902 & is still operating so it's the oldest.

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom It's 110 years old!

  • awww... that's so cute.

  • Wow. The perfect starter roller coaster ride for kiddies :] You must have a lot of fun being able to ride so many roller coasters :D I envy youu

  • i hate that bleeep of a bleeeep ride i never bleeeep went on it

  • This looks quite rough haha

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom were you the only one on? The whole video seemed quiet during the ride.

  • @Zyther17 Yes

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom this rolercaoster is aful bizaro at six hills magic adventure is so mcuh beter nd millenem forest at cider point, Sandusky, Kentuky is the bast coster in the world, leep the dips is shit

  • @Imsokoole LOL!

  • This coaster hurts SO BAD, I went on it over the summer, imagine the pain of a regular wooden coaster but x10

  • this doesnt look scary

  • wwwCOASTERFORCEcom is this ever scary

  • do the cars even have seatbelts? cuz in all the pics i saw they didnt have any

  • @QuentrixMovies No, they don't.

  • does this ride only run 1 vehicle at a time????

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom omg wow. im guessing this ride is really bumpy too?

  • Yeaa this is a coaster I would get my mom to go on with me because she's TERRIFIED!!!!!! She wouldn't even go on Boulder Dash when I showed her CF's version of it lol. I'll get her to go on those two for sure, they're both harmless!!

  • Its a very fun coaster, not very thrilling, but its a trip back in time, so dont bash on how boring it is. The coaster was built in 1902 so what would you expect? Loops or inversions??? Leap The Dips started the coaster craze, faster and faster contraptions later came. Leap The Dips is the oldest operating coaster. Last remaining side friction coaster in the US. Used to be over 400 of such coasters in the US...

  • when does the fun start?

  • was that ride for juss little kids

  • Looking foward to riding this in June

  • Wow that makes it 10 times better! No banked turns

  • What is wwwCOASTERFORCEcom's first video?

  • @MultiCoasters That would probably be the American Adventure Mini-CF-Live video or perhaps videos of Space Shot, TraumaTizer & Wildcat at Pleasureland Southport or maybe the Apocalypse at Drayton Manor POV. They were all taken in 2005, but I'm not really sure which one was the first.

  • Does anyboy like Leap the Dips?

  • @agentM1991 We love Leap the Dips!

  • Hate all you want, without early coasters like this, there would be no coasters at all.

This is a piece of history, Leap the Dips is the last remaining coaster of this type left in the US, and the oldest running coaster in the world.

  • Nice little piece of Americana with some of the most unusual sounds I've ever heard on a coaster.

  • very cool. i want to ride it just because of its age!

  • @CoolioJoe100 I rode it, no restraints, wooden brakes, destroyed back, extra cost, and operator has to push you to the chain

  • @bayday5 well, it is the oldest operating roller coaster in North America!

  • @bayday5 excuse me, oldest in the world!

  • It jumps off the tracks

  • this is the kind of coaster where final destination events can actually happen^_^

  • @Trancilian except it wouldn't kill you because it doesn't go that fast.

  • @Trancilian i know, i thought my head was gonna fly off after one of the dips

  • Where is Lakemount Park???

  • @07dogsrock Lakemont Park is in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom I live 1 1/2 hours from Altoona. I live in Emeigh near Northern Cambria. My uncle took me and his daughter to here and it was funnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

  • looks like a good ride for its age

  • not to be rude but theres like no drops!!!

  • @monkeyluv60 This coaster is 109 years old. What were you expecting?

  • I want to ride this SOOOOO BAD!!!

  • @CharlesStudios why? it has no big thrills on this coaster! if u want thrills go to six flags!

  • @HomerunSlugger5 I just want to ride it because its old and nostalgic.

  • awe, ain't it cute?

  • The noise sounds like rattling cans over a bumpy road :]

  • What is the point of a side friction coaster? :o

  • darkm00nitalian1 the cars aren't acctuly attached to the track

  • @MrMachinegun21 oh ok thats pretty cool thank you.

  • that ride looks boring no real big drops

  • @xSuperFilms what can you expect from a coaster built in 1902

  • This roller coaster is super not scary at all

  • Have fuuun! -.-!

  • Sketchy

  • it looks a bit boring

  • look at .49 i almost died at that part!

  • I'd hate to see 1900 people ride kingda ka!

  • lamest roller couster ever

  • @MrFunnyFishy it might be lame but it was the beggining. personally id love to get a ride on it but i guess its not open all the time

  • I grew up going to this park, and finally got the ride this coaster when they opened it again. Thanks for the video!!

  • Coasterforce, you guys have great videos and a great youtube channel. However, your website could use some updating. The Dorney Park page still has Possessed named as Voodoo, and the Kings Dominion page doesn't have I-305 yet.

  • Personally, I think that'd be fun! All wooden rollercoasters rock! And I love cedar creek mine ride at cedar point, so I'd love this! I love all rollercoasters!

  • I would ride this for the historic significance alone. Sometimes things are more important than the scare factor. To all the haters: Where would we be without the technology of the 80's? Certainly not hatin' on a 108 year old roller coaster from our mobile devices.

  • This ride looks fun! How could you think it stinks!? You people just don't know what a real roller coaster even is. Gee Whiz.

  • Not really much of a scary or fun ride if you ask me! I expected a little more action! Kinda boring! What do you folks think?

  • For the idiots who mock this historic attraction and call it stupid or says that it sucks, you must be the same type of idiots who would walk into the Air and Space Museum and take a look at the Wright Bros' Plane and say...."Hmm, what a dumb and stupid plane". I promise you, every coaster designer or true lover of coasters in general worth his weight in salt has nothing but admiration for such a ride. If people hadn't liked this in the past, there would be no King Da Ka today.

  • what a stupid ride

  • side friction coaster?

  • @snowboardingmoose That's right.

  • By far the scariest rollercoaster I've ever seen in my life!

  • I know it's really old, but it really sucks.

  • the operator has to push you to the chain and there are no restraints and the brakes are made of wood

  • loks kind of boring lol

  • is it true that there is a brakeman who brakes the ride when is necessary?

  • that was disapointing

  • the biggest drop was when it dodged the wooden beam lol

  • what does POV stand for

  • @puffhi Point Of View

  • @CoolPeoplz100 Lakemont Park in Altoona, PA.

  • this is the oldest rollercoaster in the world, noobs. its about an hour from where i live.

  • scary coaster LoL its made out of like toothpicks.... oldest roller coaster in the world!

  • I live 5 blocks from this park and I am never dissapointed with this ride, it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes it jumps the track a bit, but not like flying off! When you come out of a few of the dips the front goes up a little bit. It's actually pretty scary hearing creaking wood...and by the way it brakes by some guy pulling a lever causing some wood runners to raise and stopping the car... Amazing ride

  • To me this ride is much scarier than Kingda Ka, because i'd be afraid it could break down any second

  • i rode this i love it but my grandma didnt lol

  • it seems like its gonna fall apart alhough it is pretty old

  • Beautiful old ride. Amazing how tame it is comparatively, to today's monsters. -How did those old trains brake exactly?

  • This is in my hometown I road it a couple of times and once your done your back in hurting from all the bumps. But I think it is cool I road the worlds oldest roller coaster

  • Does anybody know why they do not oil the track? You would think they would oil the track to help keep the rust from forming.

  • is it safe

  • fuck no! if it was safe, it wouldn't be such an attraction. that bitch jumps the track all the time!

  • @mrbubetube I can tell you first hand that this ride is safe, yes it does leave the tracks, but i work at lakemont, and i know the people who inspect the ride from time to time, and it is safe.

  • This roller coaster is in my home towm of Altoona,Pa. What you cant see from the video is that they use the original cars and they are NOT secured to the track. They ride free on top the track making for a few small jumps after the dips. About 10 years ago they were going to tear it down, but roller coaster clubs from as far away as Germany showed up to prevent it. It was refurbished and operates to this day.
