Sorry guys, but with all this technology surely we can do better than a 70 something stratocaster twanging away with cheesy distortion!!?? Check out the sonic excellence Pat Methany is coming up with nowadays. Playing excellence is only one part of the deal.
That said, Scott and Kirk really are really awesome players. I just think they could do so much more with the sound. Long Live TT
While I always felt that Joe Zawinul didn't need (or should have ever had) a guitar player spot in the Syndicate...Scott Henderson is the lone exception. He's the only one who actually complemented the music.
@Cambodia69 look what i found in Scott's website message board: "I was a million miles out of my league on that gig. I'm not my own biggest fan now - back then I couldn't play shit. I have no idea why Joe hired me. I think he asked Scofield first but couldn't afford him. Anyway, it was amazing to get the opportunity to work with such a genius, but it was also difficult to know that Joe was used to hearing Wayne play every night and nothing I played could even come close to being that good."
@Cambodia69 True. However, here is the other side of the coin: I read somewhere, Scott talking about how he likes it better to play in bands without a keyboard. He believes it lets him explore the full potential of the guitar.

@ZakiAnssari - When you have a smaller group, I think it's pretty obvious that you're going to have more space to explore. Just imagine if a 75 piece orchestra were given the same kinds of improvisational freedoms as a trio... I don't think it would work out too well do you? I don't know what Joe would have said about what you mentioned but I do know that Scott was very happy to play with him. I could just as well say, "Now what would Kinsey have said to that?"

@thrunobulax1 He's not playing a "70 something Stratocaster" he's playing a Suhr. Way to try and insult the guy on his own youtube page.
