@Kinburst - Yes, I love the bass playing on all the Danse Society's tracks. Tim Wright is an excellent bassist. Even the drummer, Paul Gilmartin is awesome. I think their main strength was in the way the rhythm section sounded and how the keyboardist, Lyndon Scarfe played some gorgeously melodic parts .
I think they were musically on a far more interesting plane than Southern Death Cult and even Bauhaus.
Shame that the Danse Society never got the support from their record company that they needed. I am related to Paul and saw them play in a club in Keighley. I wish I had Seduction on CD instead of just vinyl - records are just too much trouble these days.
@tractordave- Yeah, I know what you mean. You should get the Seduction album on CD. I got it recently via Amazon. It's a masterpiece! Brilliant tracks and definitely up there amongst the greatest songs ever made.
Glad to know you are related to Paul (Paul Nash, the guitarist or Paul Gilmartin, the drummer?).
could someone please tell me what are the lyrics to this song Danse Society - Falling Apart... it's a fantastic song...but I just cannot find any lyrics.. Thanks in advance.
Although I heard about this band quite a few years ago, I just listened to their song for the very first time. Interesting song. Thanks for uploading.
This was for sure their best era. Then they began to change the sound, and I've never loved their posterior works as much as the early releases, particularly their debut album, "Seduction: The Society Collection".
kennt noch jemand das memphis in dortmund...? beste disco die es je gab für wave, goth etc....laufpogo as well....wurde dort oft gespielt mit viel trockeneis auf der fahrbaren tanzfläche...memphis for ever
@Problem17 They have reformed now with a new singer! New album out this year. Look for THE DANSE SOCIETY REFORMATION PLOT on Facebook to follow all new updates.
Oh my word...I can't believe this footage exists. Thank god for Youtube! seduction is still one of my fave albums... pure genius. These guys were such a powerful team... unbelievable.
The Cure meets Southern Death Cult... i'm loving this & everything on Seduction at the moment. just when i thought i had heard all the good 80s goth-rock bands... sounds like a tiring song for the drummer though ;-)
love this song , tried to play this on my drum kit couldn't keep it up

The lead singer,Steve Rawlings sounds of Danse Society sounds a bit like Phil Oakey from The Human League.
ajittffcure 3 years ago
Haha. Yes, I think equally. They sound alike a bit. Maybe more in other songs that in this one.
boomerang85 3 years ago
Both The Human League and Danse Society are from South Yorkshire in England. So, there is one more connection!

Oh! One more: Both are cute to me :D
