Its no secret that pre2000 pumpkins are like a different band than the pumpkins of now . What a great 90s band though.... Should have retired after mcatis.
I dont see why theres all this hate for new Pumpkins. Its not like they ever really had a set sound in the first place. If anyone has actually listened to Gish, it hardly sounds like Siamese Dream at all, same with Mellon Collie. Each album is an experiment, some are great, some arent as much. Personally though I LOVED machina and Zeitgeist had some great hard rock. And I have to admit, G.L.O.W. is probably one of my favorite SP songs to date.

@pocketquacks i agree the Billy drove the band into the paradigm; however, they were much better back in the original formation. that is undeniable. Jimmy Chamberlain was a great drummer and had a huge impact on their unique sound too. Also i think the Billy works best with James when writing guitar parts. @MephProduction I think you misinterperated some of my post. But yeah, i am and always will be a Billy Corgan fan. I agree, no one wants to end up like Collective Soul lol
I love how Billy Corgan criticizes his fans for 'living in the past', yet in the end of this video he is shown wearing the same 'zero' shirt he wore in a video in 1995. Of course we're living in the past, because your present music sucks dick and this song proves it.
@deengew - He invented that shirt man, he has the right to wear it whenever he pleases. He devised his music and has the right to play it or not play it when he wants. He's not living in the past, he's continually progressing forward. You're the one tying his wearing of the shirt TO the past, not him. He's moving that image along, he's progressing the SP story. He's the "zero," the jokes on you.
Yeah if 'moving on' is desperately trying to reinvigorate your youth by 'reuniting' your old band with none of the original members . The funny thing is now he doesn't even have Chamberlain anymore, probably the only force that would have made zeitgeist good if Corgan didn't choose the WORST vocal melodies I have ever heard. I believe the jokes on YOU, my good man. This isn't Smashing Pumpkins, it's a cash in. Enjoy the new 3,067,487 shitty ep's
@grafiene and besides in pretty much all recorded music you hear its Billy playing all the instruments. Its just live that there we others. Basically as long as William is in the band it can be SP but imagine he dropped out.... even James, D'Arcy and Jimmy couldnt have done anything with it!
@SootStars yeah some of their new stuff is ok, but Bullet w/ Butterfly Wings and 1979 were my themes growing up, even now they are what I listen to and go "Man the old Pumpkins were so bad ass". It makes me wish i'd been a teen in the 90's.
@MusikSkull live, yeah, but since Billy wrote all the music and recorded all the guitar AND bass parts for all the albums himself, even if D'arcy and James were in the band today it would still sound exactly like this.
@federerules yep it was made for guitar hero world tour i believe, and they performed it during the 20th anniversary tour. and they released the video on myspace
Much too repetitive to be a really good pumpkins song. Not that it doesn't sound good, its just that its not really anything to write home about either.
I like this song, and the video is really good too. For some reason, I keep thinking that the chorus from "The Everlasting Gaze" should be in this, right after the "one last trip to Hell" part.
@soramic that's exactly what he did! Billy wanted to bring the pumpkins back, but James and D'Arcy didn't want to, then Jimmy did for a while but he left. So now that's what this is... just Billy, and everyone else is new. Everyone else is just there because Billy doesn't have eight arms.
when he shaved his head, it all went to hell. this is not "going back to their roots." this an attempt to capitalize on the name. "come on baby. drive me crazy"? really?
To RONJON 9, yeah its not the same without James and Darcy because they are ones who wrote songs like Bullet, Today, 1979, Disarm, Jellybelly, Cherub Rock, Quiet, and oh wait a minute no they fuckin didn't, do some pumpkins history if you decide to post Pumpkins videos online ya jackass....anyways thanx for postin the vid I was lookin all over for it!! : )
@damn26serj i don't necessariy disagree with you. ya the old pumpkins was awesome, better in many ways even. I've been a pumpkins fan for 16 yrs and as much as i like and relate to the old stuff, we can't turn back the clock. Instead of trying too, i choose to support BC in his endeavors now. it doesn't matter as much "which" pumpkins is better, only matters that great music is still being made. i'm a billy corgan fan regardless of the name of the band
Jesus! Everyone complained about the experimental electronica stuff, and now that its back to it's roots, people still complain, maybe more than ever. This song kicks ass and is one of my faves....
@TheJaezus thats all you can call it "the new SP" because its really not at all the smashing pumpkins you can only understand if you grew up listening to the pumpkins and if you did you obviously didn't perceive shit from their original stuff
@larryoduncan Couldn't agree more. Jimmy is a fantastic drummer and the Pumpkin's sound just isn't there without him. But Jimmy needs Billy just as much; one might say that the Pumpkins are defined by their collaboration.
Eh. The new stuff isn't near as good as it was back when Siamese Dream came out. But when you think about it, is ANY music as good as it used to be? No. The magic music had from the 60's to the 90's is gone. I'm 17, and I openly admit that my generation's music sucks balls xD
Anyone see the very very last second where Billy is wearing like a white zero shirt with black lettering? Was this intentional or just what was recorded after didn't get cut off?
Great song! And this has been around for years, if you listen closely to "Pastichio Medley", you'll find there what feels to be a raw version of this theme. I am a huge Pumpkins fan, and i have to say i too prefer the "older" SP, but one thing i have to say: Mr Corgan, i am overwhelmed by you. Definitely, light-years ahead from anything i've ever heard. SP Forever!!
His singing voice is the most original and unorthodox sound music has ever heard, as far as I'm concerned.

Who are we to tell what is right and what is wrong? Billy Corgan is the definition of The Smashing Pumpkins.
grafiene 1 year ago 49
@grafiene you disgust me
Smashing Pumpkins after 2000 literally makes me gag
They were so good, and then they ruined eachother.
No blame to Billy, but the band's not the same without the original members
FarLeftRevolution 9 months ago
@grafiene
Like I would give a fuck if my opinion disgusts you or not. Hah.
grafiene 9 months ago
@grafiene yeah, pretty much. Theyre still good, but you gotta admit the original Smashing Punpkins were better
dombaglivo 7 months ago
@dombaglivo
Yeah, I have no problem admitting it, it's obvious.
grafiene 7 months ago
@grafiene
Agreed. Watch "If All Goes Wrong", I bought the DVD a while back, but Billy talks a lot about his new band and his definition of Smashing Pumpkins.
WhatYouWantInSpadez 4 months ago
@grafiene and besides in pretty much all recorded music you hear its Billy playing all the instruments. Its just live that there we others. Basically as long as William is in the band it can be SP but imagine he dropped out.... even James, D'Arcy and Jimmy couldnt have done anything with it!
.

those were the 90´s SMASHING PUMPKINS... now we have the 10´ (is this right?) SMASHING PUMPKINS.. it´s all the same cuz Billy does all the job
HYPERJOHNBASS 11 months ago 3
@SootStars More Like Billy and Jimmy are the real Smashing Pumpkins Billy did most of James and Darcy's parts on Siamese Dream
a7xbigfan9 10 months ago
@SootStars AHAHAHAHAH then i bet your dumbass would enjoy finding out that this song was written during mellon chollie and the infinite sadness
LookatDatMasterWeezy 10 months ago
@LookatDatMasterWeezy No fucking way! this song was actually written that long ago?
LoveyoulessJess 10 months ago
@SootStars smashing pumpkins was jimmy and billy.james and d'arcy just held instruments.
TheIsgod 10 months ago
@SootStars yeah totally because james wrote all the songs oh wait no he didn't
NosferatuNite 9 months ago
@SootStars yeah some of their new stuff is ok, but Bullet w/ Butterfly Wings and 1979 were my themes growing up, even now they are what I listen to and go "Man the old Pumpkins were so bad ass". It makes me wish i'd been a teen in the 90's.
Nekochan456 7 months ago
@SootStars a zillion of thumbs up for you my friend!

@SootStars :Yeah its "Billy and Friends!" now .

@SootStars they have always been amazing no matter who has been in the band.

@SootStars Except for the fact that Billy played 98% of everything that wasnt drums on the albums! :D

@SootStars yeah because darcy and james wrote the all the great songs...wait no they didn't

freakboy1992 1 year ago 3
yeah but smashing punpkins with billy, james and d'arcy were awesome!!
MusikSkull 1 year ago 2
@MusikSkull live, yeah, but since Billy wrote all the music and recorded all the guitar AND bass parts for all the albums himself, even if D'arcy and James were in the band today it would still sound exactly like this.

@federerules yep it was made for guitar hero world tour i believe, and they performed it during the 20th anniversary tour. and they released the video on myspace

@813loonatic but this was performed when the mellon colie album came out
federerules 1 year ago
Much too repetitive to be a really good pumpkins song. Not that it doesn't sound good, its just that its not really anything to write home about either.

I like this song, and the video is really good too. For some reason, I keep thinking that the chorus from "The Everlasting Gaze" should be in this, right after the "one last trip to Hell" part.
Smiley28064212 1 year ago
@soramic that's exactly what he did! Billy wanted to bring the pumpkins back, but James and D'Arcy didn't want to, then Jimmy did for a while but he left. So now that's what this is... just Billy, and everyone else is new. Everyone else is just there because Billy doesn't have eight arms.
LMMorbid 1 year ago
when he shaved his head, it all went to hell. this is not "going back to their roots." this an attempt to capitalize on the name. "come on baby. drive me crazy"? really?
that's not Pumpkins.

NosferatuNite 1 year ago
@damn26serj i don't necessariy disagree with you. ya the old pumpkins was awesome, better in many ways even. I've been a pumpkins fan for 16 yrs and as much as i like and relate to the old stuff, we can't turn back the clock. Instead of trying too, i choose to support BC in his endeavors now. it doesn't matter as much "which" pumpkins is better, only matters that great music is still being made. i'm a billy corgan fan regardless of the name of the band
TheJaezus 1 year ago
Jesus! Everyone complained about the experimental electronica stuff, and now that its back to it's roots, people still complain, maybe more than ever. This song kicks ass and is one of my faves....
mechapakmei 1 year ago
@mechapakmei this song is great ill admit but its really not the pumpkins

Thats good :)
darkxslaye 1 year ago
Billy never needed James and D'arcy. Go NEW SP!!!!!!!!!!
TheJaezus 1 year ago 3
@TheJaezus thats all you can call it "the new SP" because its really not at all the smashing pumpkins you can only understand if you grew up listening to the pumpkins and if you did you obviously didn't perceive shit from their original stuff
dman26serj 1 year ago
@TheJaezus
But he DID and DOES need Jimmy... Nobody but maybe Danny Carey of Tool can bang like Mr. Chamberlin....
larryoduncan 1 year ago
@larryoduncan Couldn't agree more. Jimmy is a fantastic drummer and the Pumpkin's sound just isn't there without him. But Jimmy needs Billy just as much; one might say that the Pumpkins are defined by their collaboration.

trifect123 1 year ago
Eh. The new stuff isn't near as good as it was back when Siamese Dream came out. But when you think about it, is ANY music as good as it used to be? No. The magic music had from the 60's to the 90's is gone. I'm 17, and I openly admit that my generation's music sucks balls xD
SlappyMcLovenuts 1 year ago
I actually liked the song..... Hehe. Not like their old stuff, but not bad..... I liked Billy's "Zero" shirt at the end. :)
butterflygottafly 1 year ago
The smashing pumpkins kick ass!
theants80 1 year ago
Anyone see the very very last second where Billy is wearing like a white zero shirt with black lettering? Was this intentional or just what was recorded after didn't get cut off?
xlSQUIZZlx 1 year ago
why is this disappointing?
redgrrrl27 1 year ago
James and Darcy did NOTHING and are nothing. watch the 666 tapes, James contributed on like 4 songs out of a catalog of how many?
SweetStumbleine 1 year ago 2
