  • People probably didn't care that you could clearly see him doing the talking for her because the puppet is so over the top and gesticulates so much that you don't pay attention to him.

  • @Sneezedoodle Well, Wayland wasn't a ventriloquist. He was a performer and (I guess) a puppeteer.

  • @ 3:00 "if he dies, he dies" -- so did Sylvester Stallone get that line for Ivan Drago from this movie?!?

    XD

  • Madame and Redd Foxx. Priceless.

  • where did she end up? i have a feeling she is packed in a trunk somewhere in someones closet.

  • @luv6pup I believe she's displayed in a museum about puppets. Saw the website months ago (google it, should be able to find it).

  • @brian1969a It's in atlanta and I've seen her there:)

  • the actor with Redd Foxx has Justin Bieber hair.

  • Does anyone have the film of Madam's x-rated HBO special?

    It was hilarious.

She told a story about her fiance Jacque, then gave the definition of "fiance" "it's french for who you are fucking now"

  • Madame was great.

  • Madame always made my dad laugh. He used to know Wayland Flowers. I miss them both.

  • Controlling the body and head and mouth with one hand, and controlling the puppets two hands with rods held in his other hand..... plus telling the jokes, good jokes.......man that is talent.

  • where can i get this from. thx

  • wayland made it clear a few times in a few acts he would tell the crowd...well as you can see the kid to my left is no ventriloquist but it doesn't matter because i am no fucking dummy....so he did move his lips cause he was more a puppeteer then a ventriloquist...but he was good at what he did there are alot of times the camera was on madame and not on wayland and there was times you forgot madame was a puppet cause wayland was just that good ..the new guy will never be as good as wayland

  • Wayland did it his way. He was ALWAYS seen doing the talking....that was his thing....He didn't care if you saw the gag!

  • It's strange for Wayland Flowers to be up there talking next to her. It gives away the illusion. (Ok, not that we really believe a puppet is talking.) But if he couldn't do ventriloquism, he should've hid under the table. I mean... I enjoy this, but it makes no sense. Ya know what I mean? weird.

  • @tygersflowerz , ya i get your drift,...other ventriloquist don't move their lips and this dude, he's goin' ninety miles an hour with his smackers!!!

  • Some ventriquists HARDLY do move thier lips, the trick is to watch BOTH THROAT & LIPS to catch the act

  • @tygersflowerz actually the point there isnt NOT to move the lips, because, can you see them having a conversation beteen madame and Wayland? And beside, That doll, madame is so huge and makes a lot of gestures to catch the eyes of the audience. And one more thing, it was early 60's, that was the hottest thing that time

  • This WAS the only guy I know where U saw WHO did the dummy's voice-Anybody who did puppets like HOWDY DOODY,U NEVER SAW THE ACTOR-Or if like in JEFF DUNHAM's case,Ventriqiusts mouths arnt supposed to be seen moving as much as WAYLAND FLOWERS had done-Although He WAS pretty damn funny,Its Too bad he passed away MANY YEARS AGO...=(... R_I_P Wayland

  • he was trying to get more famous. I'm sure this was the first major motion picture he was in & at that time, Redd Foxx was the shit. lol so i cant say i blame him for wanting some fame to go with that fortune. Perks & all you know? lol

  • One just doesn't know, this is a glimpse into a time capsule.

  • Take a look. Madame's on the comeback.

  • How is MADAME on a comeback?-**WAYLAND FLOWERS DIED** many years ago after MADAME's PLACE was cancaled =( That was my favorite show too-NITECOURT was first,Madames Place was second(JUDY LANDERS whoo-hoo!! ((@y@))....) Is who really made the show!

  • @OLDSCHOOLHHSEX Madame will appear in Vegas in just a day or two with her new handler. (His name escapes me.)

  • There is a site dedicated to MADAME =),But that site does tell of wayland dying in 1988 OF AIDS =( How sad that many people in show buisiness in those 1980s would die from the same cause....As U say,The new guys name is hard to remember-

  • Funny !!!

  • The piano player at 3:13 is Amazing.

" I fall in love too easily"

  • GOD! "I WENT AS A POPPER!" This guy is KING/QUENN CAMP!" I miss him!

  • Oh wow!!! This is so goodand sad at the same time! Waylon, Madame & Redd. Thanks for posting. I loved watching this, brought back a lot of memories!

  • i love me some Wayland Flowers@@!!! poppers!!!

  • can you tell me what video clip madame sings

    "Then came you" in...?

  • Nope - I don't know. Maybe someone else might find it.

  • Goodbye Fred,Madame and Wayland.

  • I have posted the movie and a wayland flowers and madame show in Manhattan

  • Wow!! Do you own the rights to the movie, "Norman, Is That You?"

  • She looks exactly and sounds like Judge Judy.

  • Is that judge Judy?

  • Lady Elaine Fairchilde's long lost sister. I wonder if Mr Rogers "knew" Wayland rather well?

  • why whould they know each other

  • That was one tight set. What a brilliant performer. Never appreciated Flowers before.

Looked like Foxx liked it too. He was no slouch.

    Great clip!

  • i'm like you madame used to scare the everliving crap out of me. I used to have dreams where i would wake up and there madame would be laying beside me, and she would turn to look at me then roll under the bed and there would be an underground world of madame's living there under the bed...MESSED UP

  • LOL, well I guess Madame is kinda scary with that eyeliner and she did kind of look like a witch... ;) I always thought she was funny and wow it is amazing how a gay artist could be a mainstream hit on TV back in the 70s and 80s.

  • That was a brilliant puppeteer.

  • THat puppet used to scare the ever loving shit out of me when i was a kid. It still gives me chills.

  • I may be flogged for saying so, but I agree! I had chilling images, just barely flashes of memory, of bits of that show from when I was a very very very young child which terrified me so badly. I didn't know what these memories were from and 20+ years later I'm coming across this and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as what i saw brought those deep feelings back. "This is it" I repeated to myself tremulously. It's silly, I know, but I'm a little shaken but also relieved... Terrifying.

  • The new voice for madam is a cheap imitation.

Sorry, but will always miss Wayland Flowers.

  • @marlis44 the new voice of madame is freakin amazing sista gurrl and betty dayvus are fuckin funny as hell

  • "...I tripped on the pattern in the rug, that's how stoned I was!"

    Classic!

  • I frequently use that phrase in my normal conversation. It "sometimes" gets a chuckle.

  • I just thought that this movie was soo funny. I want it on DVD now I'd almost forgotten about it. Luckily I'd video taped most of the Madame's Place sitcom back in the 80's.

  • I got such a kick out of them and I didn't even know what they were talking about...I was too young. Now I GET IT. My face hurts from cracking up.

  • Is "Madame" supposed to be a guy in drag puppet?

  • That's an interesting concept... I never thought of THAT, but in some weird way, it makes sense!!

  • Madame is a very naughty old woman!

  • i need more

  • I didnt he did a movie??? Wasn't a great show.

One thing to add to memory land.

After watching this. All I can is No wonder they hid wayland on solid Gold lol

  • Fred Sanford at a gay bar...no way!

  • Ho ho ho hee hee tee hee . . . . Wow, you should write for Leno!!

    JUST KIDDING!!! ;-}

  • Didn't realize Madamme was such a dirty old "broad". Can't wait to see clips of her t.v. show here on You Tube. Long live Redd Foxx.

  • Great Material.

  • Madame was so freakin' funny! I was a kid and didn't understand any of the adult themes that were there. She was hilarious! I'll never forget when the owner of the dog that pooped in her yard knocked on the door. "Oh it's the owner of the generous St. Bernard.Well, what can I doodoo for you?"

  • This was a great movie, it needs to be on DVD, I love Tamara Dobson, she died too young!

  • This is a fun film, and feels like a stage production (which I think it was originally). My love of Wayland Flowers and Madame as a child probably explains the fact that the only male friends I keep in touch with from high school are gay.

  • It's scary how much Flowers sounded like a woman.....I must say that his comedy was funny. He made Madame come alive as if she was real.

  • this is so funny. i didn't know wayland was dead. isn't someone else doing madame now? i used to love her on solid gold. she looked a lot like dionne warwick.

  • Jesus I feel gay even watching this! Madame was like a scary ass wooden Paul Lynde!

  • Madame has a new sidekick, Joe Kovacs. I am going to see their show in San Francisco June 30th, YES!!!

  • SO many people only know Wayland Flowers & Madame from Hollywood Squares. I saw him every time he performed at the Grand Finale in NYC. I've never seen NORMAN, IS THAT YOU?, but I will, because it was even funnier when foul mouth Madame used a profanity instead of "doing it with" as in this clip.

  • pure gold.

  • FUCK MADAME!

Ive never been more afraid of anything in this world, and im one of those crazy laugh in the face of death types.

Madame is alive and the only reason that goon is moving her arm with the stick is to prevent her from killing the audiance.

If I see another Madame video, i'm moving to tibet.

  • You comment is hilarious! I've copied-n-pasted it to some friends' emails. GREAT!.. THANKS for the laugh.

  • Knew Wayland Flowers in Las Vegas before his death. This is GREAT STUFF!.. lga4all ...George...

  • Thanks for posting this! It's a pleasure to see Waylan and Madame again.

  • Redd Foxx is the same cantankerous character he did on "Sanford & Son".

  • OMG..Madame scared the shit out of me and still do. She makes me sick..Oh Lord :(

  • There, there... No need to be a-scared anymore. She's DEAD... and so's Madame!

  • I had no idea Madame was so randy! She certainly toned things down for tv.

  • That's exactly why I posted the clip!!

  • hilarious!

  • dear god... wayland flowers and madame... I was not even born until 1988, but still, I have heard of them... wow..

  • Oh thats great! was a bit young, but I remember Wayland and Madame from the 80's.. forgot all about that.
