Town Fountain FAQ- Barolb Style of Replies:
Q: How do you get the town Fountain?
A: To get the town fountain in your town, simply donate 400,000 Bells to town hall by speaking to pelly or Phyllis. But before donating that amount make sure that you donate 200,000 Bells for the 3rd bridge in your town, or 4th if you have an island in your town. After donating the correct amount please wait for a couple of days till the bridge is constructed, then after you speak with tortimer then go and donate for the town fountain.

Q: Can I add 200,000 Bells extra and get the town fountain right after?
A: No you cant do that.
As tortimer said, they used up all of the town funds that were donated at town hall to build the project. So, because of this donating extra bells will not speed up the process. You should also donate the exact amount to avoid loosing any extra bells.

Q: Can I donate for the town fountain first?
A: you cannot do that either. Unfortunately it follows the order of the town extras.
1) 3rd Bridge- 200,000 Bells
2) Town Fountain- 400,000 Bells
3) Windmill or Lighthouse- 1,000,000 Bells

Q: How do you throw the axe into the fountain?
A: When standing in front of the town fountain, press A or swing the wiimote to toss the axe into the fountain.

Q: Can I use just a plain old axe and not only a new 1?
A: You can use any old axe, no matter what the condition of it is, it will not affect the questions/replies she gives you.

Q: Who is Serena?
A: Serena is the goddess of your town fountain. She will be the one you speak to when attempting at getting a gold or silver axe.
There is also a statue of her in the fountain at the city.

Q: How many questions are there?
A: There are 4 questions she can ask you upon throwing you axe into the fountain. But one of the questions has no continue-able dialog so at the end of the conversation she will take away your axe.

Q: Are there any right or wrong answers to her questions?
A: No there are not.
Serenas replies to you are all random but it still doesnt mean that the answer she gives you can turn out to be the path to getting a gold or silver axe.

Q: What does the silver and Gold axes do and what are the differences in them?
A: The silver axe is unbreakable compared to the regular axe and is also a little bit faster than the regular axe.
The gold axe, just like the silver axe is also unbreakable but the gold axe swings at a godly speed for cutting down trees.

Q: What else can happen when I am attempting at getting a gold or silver axe?
A: Serena could give you back your axe, or take it away a part from giving you a gold or silver axe.

Q: How many times can I try to get a gold or silver axe from serena?
A: Once a day only but you can try every day of the year to try and get one.

Q: Ive been trying to get a silver/gold axe from serena now for a very long time and I still have no luck, she always ends up taking my axe away from me. How come I havent gotten a gold/silver axe yet?
A: Because serenas replies are random you could end up on your way of getting a gold or silver axe and then you choose an option that changes the situation for the better/worse, anything could then happen. So if you dont receive a gold or silver axe after much trying it is normal, but things such as time traveling could have some sort of effect on the situation.

Q: can I throw in other items into the fountain?
A: Only axes out of the tools section can be thrown into the fountain, but there still is the possibility that other items could be thrown into the town fountain, btu at this moment it is unknown.

Q: What else can axes be used for besides cutting down trees?
A: The axes can also be used on the money rock. All axes work using it but no extras are given for using them on the money rock, you will still receive 8,100 Bells.

Q: Ive heard that the fountain is 500,000 bells, not 400,000 bells. Your faq is wrong!
A: at first I thought the fountain was 500,000 bells as well but with a little bit of asking, and a little bit of digging in, it is in fact 400,000 bells, and not 500,000 bells. The prima guide, which states that it is 500,000 bells, is incorrect.
Q: How Long do i have to wait to get the fountain?
A: The waiting period for the town fountain is about 7 days.
