Nature can be cruel, but at the same time it can be downright fascinating. You don't have to be a fan of creepy crawlers to at least be curious about whether a tarantula would survive against a scorpion, or a rattlesnake. If you find yourself drawn to nature shows in which you watch aggressive critters with six or more legs wrestle to the bitter end, then Deadly Creatures should have plenty of fights for you to feast your eyes on. Like a nature documentary, the game follows a nimble tarantula and a deadly scorpion as they travel through dangerous subterranean channels beneath the desert to a man-made wasteland. But on top of the day in the life of two arachnids, there is also an overarching story about two men (voiced by Dennis Hopper and Billy Bob Thornton) told in a film noir Coen Brothers style, who are searching for something--or someone--in the arid desert. In our previous experiences early last year and at, we were able to get a quick feel for the combat. This time, lead designer Jordan Itkowitz came by to show us multiple levels of the near-final build, and we are impressed and intrigued by this arthropod-filled action thriller.

http://games-down... Although some of that trademark Bethesda brittleness hangs in the air, the mature dialogue (it's a bit unnerving but wholly authentic the first time you hear 8-year-olds muttering expletives) and pockets of backstory make for a compelling trek. There are more tidbits than you could possibly discover on a single play-through. For example, a skill perk (more on these later) will enable you to extract information from a lady of the evening, information that in turn sheds new light on a few characters--and lets you complete a story quest in an unexpected way. A mission to find a self-realized android may initiate a fascinating look at a futuristic Underground Railroad, but a little side gossiping might let you lie your way to quest completion. There aren't as many quests as you may expect, but their complexity can be astonishing. Just be sure to explore them fully before pushing the story forward: Once it ends, the game is over, which means that you'll need to revert to an earlier saved game if you intend to explore once you finishe the main quest.

http://games-down... Niki is a courageous ball trying to protect his village from invading monsters. He looks like a Pokeball with hair, and the bland aesthetics will be of little help in drawing you into this world. Levels are completed by destroying all of the enemies and collecting every pearl. Though your foes come in a number of different forms, they can be broken down into two simple categories: those with spikes and those without. To vanquish the unprotected enemies, you can simply roll into them or, if you prefer, bounce on top of their heads. However, the majority of your opponents are more challenging than that, forcing you to transform into a rock before you can defeat them. Other than rolling and hopping, transformation is the only other move that you'll be able to pull off at will, and you'll choose to hide in your rocky shell often, given that it makes you virtually indestructible.

Jonny Ebbert: Dawn of War II's multiplayer takes everything that was great about the original and combines it with the best that Company of Heroes had to offer: brutal melee combat, cover-based ranged combat that lets you use the terrain to protect your troops, and fully destructible environments. On top of that we're adding some new innovations, like unique tech trees that are focused around a particular commander type, and a new co-op mode that lets players focus less on the pressure of winning and more on playing the role you want to play on the battlefield. We're hoping that this new co-op mode will draw a lot of new players to play online. GS: The original Dawn of War was designed from day one with a very strong focus on competitive multiplayer, not just for hardcore fans, but even for professional competition. Has the same degree of focus gone into Dawn of War II's development? How will the sequel stack up as a hardcore multiplayer experience?

The version of Blood Bowl being shown inside the Focus Home Interactive booth was very early. So early, in fact, that it wasn't playable, and featured only two of the game's eight races: beastmen of chaos, and goblins. The remaining six races will be elves, skaven, humans, orcs, lizardmen, and dwarves. The player models that we saw competing against one another were nicely detailed and definitely in keeping with the Warhammer look, although all players of the same species looked identical, which we're assured will not be the case in the finished game. Star players like ogres and trolls will also figure in the finished game, but we didn't get to see any of the big guys on this occasion.
