Everyone is aware that the music industry is at a point of transition - major record labels are falling, indie labels fare no better, record stores are closing, Pay-for-Play scams abound - in many ways it's a rough time to be a musician.

At the same time there are now more opportunities for musicians and artists to create in ways that have never been possible before. Cheap technology has turned the tide back in favor of a modern version of "parlor musicians" - now "everyone is in a band." Multimedia art has exploded: video didn't kill music - video has BECOME music.

Instead of mourning the death of he physical album, Alarana Records contributes to the resources available and creates opportunities. We are an artist run cooperative. Since 2005, Alarana.net has enabled collaborative efforts of artists across continents and introducing the world to new music and visual art.

We are not a traditional record label. We release albums as interactive websites, allowing a multimedia experience that can be reached across the globe. We like to think we are the future.
