1956 - the Suez crisis - A Caravelle bound to Accra via Libya carried my friend George on his first visit to Africa.
My best friend George narrates his first flight to Ghana in 1956, as the plane he traveled on went into a fierce lightning storm, got struck by lightning, went into an airpocket dropping several hundred feet. Passengers were sick, a woman had to be reanimated. His friend called for the Hostess and asked for 'Aire naturelle' .
In his own words : 'When the lighning bolt struck our plane, it sounded like a powerful hit on an empty Kerosine gallon'. One can only imagine the chaos, passengers praying ...
Listen to his own words when he tells about the incident
