TVO is mixing the best of old and new media to stimulate a higher level of citizen engagement.

TVO.org and The Agenda with Steve Paikin will foster active citizenship by engaging citizen exploration of different problems/opportunities in Ontario's economy. The idea is to pair an un-conference, styled after the open participatory Barcamp model, with each Agenda on the Road broadcast. The un-conferences take place both on-line at tvo.org, and on location, the day before the broadcast.

User generated video, pictures and all manner of writing generated from the conference will be hosted on tvo.org and available to Agenda producers for use on the broadcast. Camp participants could also make up the live studio audience. It is expected the discussion online will continue at tvo.org well after the events are over.

The Agenda with Steve Paikin is TVO's flagship current affairs program. It is devoted to the issues that are changing our world, at home and abroad. We believe that fostering a clearer understanding of these transformative social, political, cultural, and economic forces --- through first-rate analysis, discussion and debate --- are core needs of citizens in a democratic society.
