the jp-8000 sounds more dirty and analog. The SH is pretty clean.
3 octave keyboard, 3 osc and multiple effects...if that's what you want you should get the SH-101.
The JP-8000 still is one of the more analog sounding digital emulators from roland. The JP-8000 never fails.
