"Rights for the wrong" should be your slogan.

whoo689: if you knew anything at all you'd be aware that the ACLU has in fact gone to court to defend the 2nd amendment and the rights of gun owners.

There is a reason that the freedom of speech is the 1st amendment. I am a proud member of the ACLU and the NRA. Keep up the good work.

It seems you guys would sooner defend the "constitutional rights" of an illegal alien (who has NONE) than a gun owner. It's pretty sad.

The 10th Amendment is part of the Constitution, is it not? And what about the 2nd Amendment? That IS a civil liberty, you know. Right to bear arms. Hell, even in Heller the SC said it is. The silly liberal interpretation of the 2nd Amendment does not hold up to scrutiny. Just admit it: the 2nd amendment gives law-abiding citizens the right to own guns. Hell, there's plenty of quotes from the founders on the importance of gun rights. Even one of them said that EVERY citizen is part of the "militia."
That being said, I respect much of your work, but I think you guys go a little too far sometimes in the cases you go after and way you interpret the Constitution. I mean, what was that bullshit about all those silly "separation of church and state" cases, such as the bitching about a new mexico county seal? Seriously? |

What about the 10th Amendment, ACLU? Where do you guys stand on that? Does states' rights not matter? You guys have yet to argue that Roe v. Wade was the wrong decision. As much as I am prochoice, I think it should've stayed a state issue, and Roe should not have been decided the way it was. Federalizing it just opened the gates of hell. It has become 10x more contentious. And why does the federal gov't need to impose some one-size-fits-all approach to the entire country on these issues? Let each state figure out the best approach.

Great job! Obama has extremely disappointed me. I totally agree that the Biotech Industry exaggerates with its intention to patent the nature, altohough I love Biotech. We have to stop these companies now!

The ACLU is teaming up with the Mexican Human Rights Commission for the sole purpose of initiating lawsuits against the American government for the deaths of those who choose to cross the border illegally. Please read that again! The American Civil Liberties Union wishes to hold the United States accountable for the actions of individuals who knowingly attempt to break the law.
It is the ACLUs position that entry into the United States is a human right, and by enforcing our borders we are somehow violating the civil rights of migrant workers, as they like to call them. The truth is, the ACLU is attempting to use the courts to violate the United States most basic right and that is to operate as a sovereign nation. |
