The World Sports Festival is a unique sports event for young people. In 2010 more than 2,500 participants from 26 nations took part in the competitions under the patronage of UNESCO. This is amongst others a guarantee for interesting and exciting competitions in 2011. For four days the athletes will prove their sports skills. They will create an unforgettable atmosphere in Vienna and Lower Austria and celebrate together a great sports festival.
What makes the WSF a unique event is not only the abundance of nations and young athletes but also the diversity of sports. Next year participants will match each other in TEN different disciplines. Amongst them again the popular sports such as FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL and SWIMMING as well as TENNIS, VOLLEYBALL, BOWLING, WRESTLING, RACKETLON, TABLE TENNIS and AMERICAN FOOTBALL.
An important aspect of the World Sports Festival is also that it is not just concerned with striving for seconds, points and goals. What makes this sports event special, is that here there is a unique opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Previous years have shown that during the evening events in the Players Town the heart of the sports festival life-long friendships have been made.
The World Sports Festival is a place where color of skin, religion or heritage play no role.
We hope in the future to be able to greet participants from growing markets like India, China or the Arabian countries. Our vision is to extend the duration of the World Sports Festival to one week and have competitions not only in Austria but also in other European countries.
Also the organization of a winter event in the near future is already being planned.
